The Angry Video Game Nerd

I am a huge fan of AVGN so i just have to start a thread about him! I'm surprised there is no thread already because the nerd is just legendary!!! Games combined with comedy has never been that awesome before!
In case you don't know the nerd (in that case you have to live on the moon!) he is a guy who loves the old 80s games and consoles, especially the bad ones! He spends alot of money to buy them so he can make reviews about it and gets very angry while he does it.

This is the newest and longest episode of the nerd and he is playing "Action 52". 52 NES games on one cardridge for 199$!!!

I love the nerd. There are a few abnormally annoying episodes, featuring crap-filled crappy obnoxious bullcrap, like the batman one with the joker, the "wizard of oz" one with the annoying lion guest, and the bugs bunny ones. Some of those are absolutely embarrassingly painful.

But aside from that occasional flop, what a hilarious show. Anyone his age who grew up with these games is almost a guaranteed fan going in. It's so funny reliving those old frustrations without having to actually do them.

For me, the Fester's Quest episode REALLY hit close to home, and was incredibly funny for anyone who played that game.

The recent Ninja Gaiden one was kind of a classic, with perhaps the ONLY guest appearance that's ever actually improved the show - maybe the other one being the Battletoads episode where you discover that during the entire series, the musician that does the opening theme has been living behind the couch the entire time.

Also, I've got to give a special mention to the "nintendo power" episode where our own xkappax makes an appearance - when the nerd is pointing out the Mega Man villains designed by readers, the nerd points out "Balloon Man??"

Is there really only one nerd fan on this forum?

I listen to AVGN. Favorite has definitely got to be his piece on Sega consoles and how they shot themselves in the foot with their bad marketing decisions. I liked the one episode on Swordquest though, that one was really interesting too.2010-05-05 04:34:00

seen all the videos SEVERAL times and i quote him all the time

AVGN fan here, and I gotta say I'm a bit sad he's cutting down the number of vids he's doing to once a month. I particularly liked his Castlevania retrospective; nothing like old-school hellish difficulty in the games to make the videos even more entertaining.2010-05-10 05:15:00

I've loved the Angry Video Game Nerd, ever since back when he was the Angry Nintendo Nerd. I like his videos, but does it seem like to anyone else that hes calmed down somewhat?

Hmm I think it just depends on the game. There are moments which make you almost die with laughter and others where you just smile. I like every episode of the nerd because he always makes me feel good! :-)

About Action 52, I guess they didn't even give a **** if it's working properly because they knew that there are idiots that think exactly like the Nerd said "Oh, there are 52 games for 199$? That is like only 4$ a game! I'll buy that and my kid won't need any other game ever again!".		2010-05-13 03:52:00
