Wiki Bias Editing/Reporting

Archive: 6 posts

I've never really felt the need to do this before, but I came across a wikipedia entry that is clearly written from an ideaological standpoint. Does anyone know how you report pages that need review, or whatever the process is?

I'm sure this happens alot, but it's the first time I remember having caught it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raja_Nahar_Singh

I should note I'm not on one side or another ... or even involved ... in any of the politics in this in anyway, but thought I'd share some of the wording to make it clear why I think it needs to be edited.

"name of the Jat Raja Nahar Singh will always be highly regarded among those who martyred themselves"

"These four heroes from Ballabhgarh, guilty of the crime of patriotism and serving their country, stood side by side on the hangman's platform.

The people of Delhi were watching this heart-breaking scene with grief and sadness. On Raja Nahar Singh's countenance there was no dullness, but a glow that troubled the enemy and cast a shadow on their faces."

"In this manner the patriot hero Raja Nahar Singh sacrificed his life for his country and became immortal."

This seems clearly ideaologically worded to me, so I was wondering what one is suppose to do when they catch that on wikipedia.

Yeah, this whole article is suspect.

At least one place in Delhi or at least the Ghanta Ghar or Fuhara where Nahar Singh was hanged should be named after Nahar Singh with his statue over there
That's not even subtle, haha.

I know I used to have an account on a wikia wiki, and you would just "Rollback" the changes to before it was vandalised. This doesn't really seem as vandalised as what I've seen about the Kool Aid Man, but hey.

You could probably just edit the whole article and rewrite it from a neutral point of view, and in the reason for editing, just say that.

I dunno... Just an idea...

This little fort could have fought for years.

These four heroes from Ballabhgarh, guilty of the crime of patriotism and serving their country, stood side by side on the hangman's platform.

In this manner the patriot hero Raja Nahar Singh sacrificed his life for his country and became immortal.

His pure body was not returned to his family.

Wow. You're not kidding.

Unfortunately I really know nothing about the wild trade of wikipedia editing, so I couldn't offer any advice. As Klaww mentioned, there's always the option of diving in the deep end, and editing the page yourself.

I remember rolling over on the Dr Who Wiki. I clicked on the 10th Doctor and what came up? ****!

Now that is bias editing!
