Card-BoredPixelParagon, additional help from Inanimacy You are an explorer, and your first task is to explore the ancient city of Card-Bored. According to rumors, this city is made entirely out of paper and plastic. Could the legends be true? That's for you to find out. Finally, after about a month of tweaking, Card-Bored is finally ready for release. I've made many changes since the beta, but none to length, unfortunately. Enjoy! Enough feedback and there will be a sequel. http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/6505/aphoton.jpg http://img186.imageshack.us/img186/511/aphoto1.jpg http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/5924/aphoto3m.jpg http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/5787/aphoto4p.jpg http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/6103/aphoto2.jpg Due to the terrible screenshot system, it looks way less exciting than it actually is. | 2010-05-02 22:40:00 Author: Arkei Posts: 1432 |
This level has a very unique style. You used cardboard in very good ways, and thats the best part about this level. I really liked the floating platform bit. My only complaint is that the level is a bit too short, but its still very fun and looks very good visually. Overall, great level, and if you make a sequel, try to make it a bit longer. | 2010-05-03 02:59:00 Author: DreJ1212 Posts: 240 |
this was a good level, TOO short but very fun...i love how everything was in cardboard as well....maybe this ancient city will have more buildings and houses in the sequel? hope so as id love to see a sequel...with more flying machines and those weird water boosters all in all it got a heart from me and 5 stars for what its showing....wish there was more in the level tho oh and on a totally unrelated note....pixelparagon...so i guess you like pixels? like 8-bit and such? | 2010-05-03 03:44:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |
The sequel will be longer, and it will have an actual story. In fact, it'll have a connection to the Hidden Cave levels I'm remaking. Thanks for the feedback, but I won't be able to do any F4F for another week. | 2010-05-03 04:14:00 Author: Arkei Posts: 1432 |
I'm going to go check this out right now, looks interesting. So, I've just finished playing it. I really like the concept, it's a refreshing change and I can see you've put effort into the visuals, nice work. The rain, even though quite basic, looked really good, simple but effective. I aslo liked the lightning that destroys your airship thing. Here's what I think could be improved. In the description you say "Are the legends true" this made me go in expecting some type of story, so I was disappointed when I found there was none. If you die at the start then when you come out of the first checkpoint again you can see a strip of dark matter at the top, I just found that it kind of ruined the novelty of Card-Bored when you can see visible dark matter. There was another small strip of visible dark matter you can see to the left when you get into that weird flying boat thing. The lethal gas just stops and starts abruptly, I find it just looks messy and amateurish. The cardboard that the scoreboard sits on also ends abruptly, again this makes the level look messy which is a shame since the begining looked so good. I agree with Shadowcrazy, I did find the level to be too short, surely it would be too difficult to move th scoreboard down futher and a few morelplatforming sections or something. Lastly I liked the boxes that fell down on you at the end but the missiles that came after I didn't like so much. Overall I did enjoy the level, nice work Arkei, i'll be waiting for the sequel | 2010-05-03 04:16:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
Hey, thanks for playing me level and leaving feedback. I'm a couple of days late doing yours in return, but its the first time I've been on the PS3 I'm typing feedback as I play + Liked the intro, nice lettering + The visuals are nice and clean, I liked the fact everything was in cardboard. + Loved the mail chute + Liked the billboard you zoomed past, it was a nice feature, you should add a few more in here and there. + Nice platforming, those bits on strings really catch you out if you don't have your wits about you + Liked the lightning that destroys the craft + The ending made me laugh, it suprising me and made me laugh - I've gotten stuck on the slide after the mail chute a couple of times, the first time I got through OK but i noticed i didnt get the point bubbles closest to the top, so I restart, when I collected them I got stuck. Then when I replayed the level to type the feedback I just got randomly stuck. You should use a little sliver of glass on top of the slide to make people slip down there. - You should hide the gas a little better, use a thin layer to cover it front and back, it looks a little ugly the way it is. - There wasnt much to do when you first hit the water, a few points, or some hazards would spruce the area up a little - I thought it was a little short I enjoyed the level, it had good gameplay and a nice visual style, the stuff I mentioned above are easy little fixes (perhaps maybe the length), let me know when you release the next level,I enjoyed this one I gave i 5* | 2010-05-04 16:27:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
Thanks for the feedback, I'll be sure to fix those issues once I can get on the PS3. | 2010-05-05 22:11:00 Author: Arkei Posts: 1432 |
Believe it or not, I haven't completely forgotten about this level! :O Changes since 1.0: Put gas below the player at the main spawn to prevent falling down and breaking the level. Many, many, many slight tweaks. Removed "Jump" sign, tweaked billboard to say "X!" Lighting adjustments Messed with springs on bouncy pads Changed floating platforms to be less pointy Added more decorations to floating platform area Added more rain Added many "shaky cameras" throughout the level Made all gas invisible Removed swimming section after lightning strike, instead, it fades out to black and you respawn in a new section. Made grab-boats faster. Tweaked the end to prevent not being able to finish with more than 1 player Entire level is covered in camera zones More point bubbles Added "Time Trial" mode for extra points So, what do you think? | 2010-06-08 20:15:00 Author: Arkei Posts: 1432 |

Hi I played your level today. Idea of everything cardboard is good and worked. At the start I needed to redo few times that slide and jump part after that it was going pretty good. I like the part where thunder hits the boat and then you find yourself laying on cardboard and the boat is wrecked. You could add more stuff in it here and there and also maybe make a little story. gave it :star::star::star::star: F4F: Give me some feedback on my level Lighthouse (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=28187-Lighthouse&p=489499) thanks! | 2010-06-09 11:18:00 Author: Unknown User |
LOL! Very unique! Reminds me of the newbie players who make their levels entirely out of dark matter xD! But this is actually good :]! Make more, please! | 2010-06-10 00:07:00 Author: EvasiveSpoon Posts: 119 |
Cool, I've been waiting to see the new and improved version. I'll check it out this weekend and be back with my thoughts. Btw I have a the level "LBW5 Working Overtime" out. It'd be nice if you could leave some feedback, I'm not too fussed though EDIT: I just replayed the level and can I say that this is a HUGE improvement. The only faults I could find now were, -The air ship ride that you get electrocuted in looks odd. What I mean is that since there's no scenery it just looks like you're going no where and looks a little strange. -The moving platforms near the end are fun, untill you fall off. Swimming along in the water untill you reach the platform is pretty boring. You could fix this is a number of ways. | 2010-06-10 11:15:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
I thought I put gas throughout the entire thing, I guess it broke. I'll be sure to check out your level as soon as I can. | 2010-06-12 20:06:00 Author: Arkei Posts: 1432 |
