Hey guys, this is the first level I have ever created. I know its not much, but I think its not bad at all for a first level. Please try it out and tell me what I could do to improve my levels in the future.

Just played this, pretty good for a first level. The gameplay was sound in every way. The only beef I had was with the visuals. There were lots of visible components, messy shaping, and the materials you chose didn't really match. Also, in the ice scenario, there were random squares of thin layer, and you could see chunks of the level missing. Still fun, though.

Would you mind checking out my level, Card-Bored? Thanks.

Thank you for your comments. I plan on fine tuning the visuals in the snow part later, its by far the worst looking part of the level, and I plan on fixing it. I will play your level when I get a chance.2010-05-03 02:14:00

Hi Drej
Playing as I type.
Lol at the NO H4H sign, good job!
nice looking teleporter.
Mmmm, I didn't survive the dropping floor with the spikes, yet I trigged the save point to the right, so didn't get a chance to try it a second time....maybe move it further away?
I liked the snow scene, though a stark contrast to the last part, seemed a little, or rather very random?
Nice little puzzle with the blocks and having to move them to make the lights come on.....but a little random.....I can sense a theme here.
The usual rotating maze, seen many times b4, but functions well.
NOW we are getting to origional ideas, VERY nice puzzle with the sponge on elastic!
I enjoyed the raising platforms with the triangles to signify safe areas.....a nice variation on the usual dodge and duck obstacles.
Nice use of the cart to light the lights, again, that felt fresh.
wow, the platforms moving up and sown with the electrified opening/shutting gates was tough, good fun again, but tough.
Nice underwater scene, i liked the way the puzzle was in the back plane so it didn't get in the way when you let go of the colored balls.

Nice effort for your first game, could do with an improvement on some of the visuals, but game play is more important, and I think on the whole, you had some very nice puzzles in there, and the pace was just right.

Well done. I gave you four stars.

If you would like to F4F my level 'Spider mech tank walker' that would be great. Thanks.

Thanks Shade.

The spike part in a way is like a bonus challenge. If you manage to beat it, you will get prize bubbles, if not, you just continue to the next part of the level without getting the prize bubbles. Its just like the part near the end of the 3rd section when you are slowwing dropping to the end. The 3rd section is also my personal favorite part of the level. I love the puzzles there, and i really learned a lot from making them.

I'll probably update some of the visuals as well as play your level when I get home. Thank you for your comments.

Very, very, VERY nice level!
Puzzles were innotave, original, and highly amusing. You are destined for great things if that was your first level
Five stars and a heart for you!
My favorite part was the rolling snowball.

This was a decent first level. The concept was alright, and visually it was decent, if a little plain. The core gameplay was decent, but there was no reward for not dying in any of the sections. Maybe you could make it so that you only get points from that light thing if you don't die?

I was expecting something a bit different out of this level, though. Something more futuristic. Regardless, it was a decent experience. I have a couple complaints, though. The water section looks really plain. Perhaps you could spice it up with some decorations? Also, at the puzzle at the beginning with the falling spikes, there's very little direction. It's a puzzle that makes no sense. I don't understand why hitting that one different colored square (wait a minute....was that a button? If so, I'm stupid...) and then pressing that button stops the spikes. You did show a good understanding of logic with some your puzzles, though, and the majority of them were creative and fun to solve.

Overall this was a good first level, certainly better than my first level. Keep up the good work.

@The Gavfather: Thanks for the 5 stars and the heart!
@Awesomemans: I agree with you on the water part. It does look pretty plain and I plan on making it look better soon. And yes, that was two buttons to stop the spikes. My visuals aren't that great yet, but im working on making them better in future levels.

Adding a video. Check the first post.

I enjoyed this level .The idea of being transported to different locations with unique challenges is cool, but I think it would have been better if there were several more situations as it feels a bit short to me. Also, some of the landscaping doesn't look very good, and could be improved on.

For a first level, it's a supreme effort. Back when LBP first came out making a passable first level was a massive feat, I know I didn't really manage it. You new guys have it so much easier haha, you even got some good logic in there, well done

Good things
- Variety in game play per sections, nicely split mechanics between scenarios.
- Appropriate use of logic.
- Funky Teleporters/VR machines

Things to think about
- You have to react pretty quickly when the simulations start, If thats by design then that's ok but if it's incidental then maybe putting a little bit of lag time before the obstacle begins might be a bit fairer. For the most part, people only will play your level once so it needs to count.
- Repeated scenery is fine so long as you have a couple of repeated bits of scenery. Even simple things like the trees in the ice zone could do with being flipped, resized and maybe stickered slightly differently..or even just having more than one type of tree is good also.
- VR sections inbetween scenarios looked a little bare, in sci fi sections like that the corner edit tool + Small grid really help massively. Thats basically how I created my Aerostation levels, heavy use of the corner edit tool, because I wanted it to look futuristic.
- Think about lighting settinsg maybe.
- You could go back through the level and splash some more decorations around, in some sections it looks a little bare.

Overall a very good first level.

I have reviewed your level and found it very short I think you would have used more to make it longer teleport sometimes is very dark and suddenly it seems that you will not be able to finish. is well used different ways to open the doors.

Need more decorative as it is a bit empty with a little more dedication this would be a good level.

Thanks for your comments guys. In the future I may make a sequel to this level with more areas.

MASSIVE UPDATE:
I just went through fine tuning the level a bit more.
1. The second area has more diverse trees. They are still the same object, but they are decorated differently.
2. The third area has a lot more lighting and looks a lot better. There is also a quick photo shoot.
3. The underwater area does not look as plain as before. It is more spruced up with decorations.

Thanks for your comments on my level.
Played this level a couple of times and was impressed. Certainly one of the best first levels I've played, shows tremendous potential.
Liked the concept of being teleported to different entirely distinct challenges in seperate unique environments. Reminded me of the danger room in the X-men comics!
I loved the immediacy of the first challenge with the descending spikes, having to shoot the two buttons in the right sequence, raised the pulse. The winter scenario provided a nice contrasting relaxing challenge, but my favourite by far was the oriental style race section.
The combination of puzzles set against the race timer and challenges made this section really enjoyable, but what really made it for me was the brilliant use of lighting here.
The water section was fairly straightforward and could probably do with a little more decoration, camera zones etc. to add to the atmosphere.
Overall a great first level, let me know when you release your next because I really enjoyed the gameplay.

Thanks for the comments. I recently updated the lighting in the race section, so its good that you played the level when you did.

Hello DreJ1212-

This is a great first level. It was a very interesting concept too to be teleported to four different challenges. It felt sort of like something that you would see in an action type movie. My favorite of the four would have to be the second one. It was intriguing to me, the giant snowball chasing you felt just right. I don't have much else to say except for maybe spice things up a little bit by adding some decorations, especially in the water area, and the parts with the scientest guy. Overall, this was a really great start for a creator, keep it up.

I rated it :star::star::star::star::star: and <3ed it.
