Considering Selling Old PS2 Games

Archive: 11 posts

I think the time has come for me to sell many of my old PS2 games. Except for a select few (MGS series... that's about it), I'll probably never play any of them again.

So I'm just wondering, where's the best place to sell them? Do GAME or Gamestop still take PS2 games? Are there sites online where you can get better deals? Or is ebay the way to go?

I'm quite reluctant to let some of them go as while they're only discs, when I look at the discs it brings back the memories of playing them... I guess a lot of them have sentimental value. Obviously I'm not looking for loads of cash but perhaps 5-10 euro per game... maybe that's asking too much...

Anyway guess I'm looking for advice about prices and sales methods. Any help would be appreciated. Oh and BTW I definitely want to sell them for cash rather than a game swapping scheme.

Cheers.

DO NOT SELL THEM TO GAMESTORES. I repeat, DO NOT!
They give you like, what, ?5 or less for a game and ebay can get you waay more.

^ Agree, game stores scam you!

Perhaps sell them to a friend with a PS2?

Anyone actually take a look at ebay for the prices Ps2 games are actually selling for?

https://signin.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?SignIn&UsingSSL=1&pUserId=&co_partnerId=2&siteid=3&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fcompleted.shop.ebay.co.uk%2FSony-PS2-%2F15122%2Fi.html%3FMA2ShowItems%26_trksid%3Dp3286 .c0.m283%26_rdc%3D1%26_fln%3D1%26_dmpt%3DUK_PC_Vid eo_Games_Video_Games_JS%26LH_Complete%3D1%26guest% 3D1&pageType=3286&_rdc=2 [Seems you have to sign in to view completed listings]. They are all selling for a couple of quid anyway.

But basically, unless you have something rare / sought after, you're gonna get naff all for them anyway, then there is the hassle of doing listings for each one and then posting them.... Which in my experience is way more hassle than it's worth. You might actually be better off just walking into a store with the lot, rather than wasting your time on ebay.

Of course if you do have anything rare that will sell well, I'd go down the ebay route, some old games sell for rediculous amounts on there.

I guess I'll look them up on ebay 1 by 1 and then decide. I have Shadow of the Colossus in the cardboard sleeve and art cards and it's selling for around 25.2010-05-02 17:30:00

Check ebay, amazon market place and playtrade sell anything of value through those and dump the rest on whatever store will have them.2010-05-03 11:29:00

I have never used this site personally but I have heard great things about it on podcasts.

You can trade your games with people and get games off them.

I hate selling my games. you get such terrible deals and electronic stores buy up your games for like 10% of what they originally cost. It's not really worth it in my opinion, You say you may not play them ever again now, but 10 years from now who knows? PS2 games are also sort of at a stage where they aren't old enough to be collector's items, but aren't new enough to have high resell value. I bet you could probably wait and they would go up, even if it took like 10 more years lol.2010-05-04 08:12:00

You'd be a fool to sell that version.
