(EDIT) This mech took A LOT of time to make! Probably 15/20 hours to get right, then another massive amount of time designing the scenery that the mech could walk over. I have since found out that if the mech is larger it doesn't break so easily, but due to the level being finished and maxed on the thermo before my descovery, and the map designed for the smaller version, the mech CAN break under stress. The video shows you how the jump button can get you out of trouble, it's there for a reason, so do please use it. It is VERY possible that the legs may get bent underneath itself, or indeed stuck on the bridge on the odd occasion, this is when you use the jump button, and then a quick grab of the forward button to realign the legs.

Hey! this afternoon I played your level and I found very good mechanism of the spider, but you can go with it all the way, and that going further killing the enemy launched web jejeje pleased me. just a suggestion you should put some music because it is a little slow so silently.

May you see my level is called Enchanted Adventure and want to know your opinion.

I played it . The theming at the beginning was cool, especially the lightning effects. I also liked the bit where you crawl through the cave, which was quite unique.

The mech itself is also very good. It didn't break at all. The only bad thing about it was that the gun comes out really slowly, but that's not really a problem. Also, you could put some music in. It can be a bit boring to control the mech in silence.

Writing this as I play your level. First off, very very nice work on the simulation of Thunder and Lightning!

Btw, this may be a stupid question, how and where do you get that gargoyle beast at the beginning? From one of the dlcs I presume?

That first spider is awesome. I love how it could walk without wheels. I've been trying to make creatures that walks on legs and I couldn't quite make them then I realized, I need 4 LEGS! after I saw your spider. Really awesome work on it!

The "crawling like a spider" part was really brilliant.

The spider mech itself was really well done! It moves like a spider, it looks like a spider and it sounds like a mechanical spider.

On the elevator part, I suggest making a camera that zooms out with 0 player tracking so you can see the whole thing while it's going up. I wasn't sure if I was missing something while moving up cause it does a close up on my sackboy when I am activating the lever.

Just finished it. It's a really cool and well done. The huge highlight and hero of the level was the spider mech itself. It's very versatile and moved very fluently.

There are a couple thing that would make your level so much better (Though it looks great as it is!)

First important thing is the music. You're level will feel and look so much better if there's a music that accompanies it. Choose a music that you feel is compatible with your level.

The gun itself is slow to come up and the range of fire was limited. I had to reposition my mech lots of times just so I could properly target the enemies.

This is not so important but a few props here and there would help especially stickers. I understand you can't put props on the 3 layers cause it'll mess up the spider when it's walking.

Overall, it's a really well done and great level. The mech broke a couple times not because of itself but because of the game itself. But that's nothing distracting cause you can get a new one right away and it didn't bother me retracing my steps just because the Spider Mech itself was so much fun to control.

I gave this :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart! Very well done!

Thanks Otune, glad you enjoyed it, and well done for getting through with out the mech breaking!

Hi Whitemon, thanks very much for your extensive review, I really appreciate it!(The Gargoyle is from the history pack btw)

I took on board what you, and Otune and Psyntens said, and changed a fair bit:

The mech now will respawn where ever it sits, even if it is right over the spawn area.
I added some more stickers (leaves/seaweed/ etc.
I made the ramp off the see saw easier to get off.
The paint ball sensor on the tentical monster is now visible.
The mechs weapons raise far more quickly now, and added two more emmitters so the area of paint emitted is far greater.
There is a mushroom after the monster to skip the last walking mech section if desired.
There is a 'hint' of a kind, about where one of the coins might be (to unlock the mech as a prize)
Three types of music are now on there.

ENJOY, and thanks again for the feed back.

wow the spider that you built is just beautiful, I had difficulties to the area where you get the first. I could not finish it because the ranking strangely did not work. I gave :star::star::star::star: stars. 2010-05-03 14:32:00

I really liked this level. The spider was very well put together. I really enjoyed the intro bits, mainly the crawling bit. The mushroom trick was pretty cool too. The only wierd part was the second gold coin. The magic mouth seemed to get in the way, but its no big deal.

5 Stars.

I finally got a chance to test your level. My overall impression is very good. The overall atmosphere is very immersive and fitting.

I'm a bit afraid of spiders in r/l, so it was particularly satisfying being able to kill that first one. It's really impressive how it moves.

One thing I didn't like that much is having to kill yourself for the teleporters to work. It kind of breaks the inversion, reminding you that this is a game. It so much better the teleporter in the lab, which kills you automatically (so you can pretend that you were never killed, just teleported). If you make it so people don't activate them by mistake (specially the one at the beginning of the level), you could add some delayed activation or something.

The mech itself is very impressive. By itself, it makes the level very worth to play. If anything, I still think the guns are very slow to activate, and the range of fire very limited. I found it a bit difficult to aim. I also activated the door too many times by mistake, but I guess that was my fault

One thing that confused me a bit, when trying to get one of the coins (I got 5 of them, but not in the same play through), I got teleported to the cave below the start (at least, that's where I think it was). I thought I was supposed to find something in there, like the last coin or something, but didn't see anything worthwhile.

I might be a bit unlucky, because for me the spider happened to lose a leg quite bit often, usually the one on the forward plane on the right. The last time, it just broke two steps before getting back to the scientist, so he didn't detect it as intact.

Again, overall it's very very impressive and interesting to play. Congratulations!

Thanks for finding that out, and thanks for playing!

5 Stars. Hi Drej, thanks for the comments, though I'm not sure what you meant by the magic mouth getting in the way on the second coin?

Hi Glueball, and thanks for the crytisisms.

A few things that I acted on. Now ALL the 'magic mushrooms' 'teleport' rather than having to pop.
The coin you mentioned (not giving away where it is) has now been moved to the cave under the start, and the gas now moves out of the way allowing you to either go back through the 'tenticle' tunnel (if you missed the second coin) or use the magic mushroom to take you back.
So thanks for mentioning those things, especially the coin!

As for the spider at the begining, all it is is a small copy of the main mech walker, with controls removed, and a bit of floaty stuff inside to make it light weight. Glad you enjoyed killing it lol.

As for the mech breaking, well, I can't do much about that other than make the set very flat and boring. I kinda hoped that people wouldnt mind too much (being concieted?) I wanted people to enjoy the mech. (It took about 6 hours just to get the legs to work, probably 15 hours to make the whole mech walker with all it's logic.) And yeah, the floor is a problem, but couldn't work out a better way with the limited space inside the mech.

I'd love to know how many people have found all 6 mech coins, and whether they thought it was worth a replay to to get them all if they didn't the first play?

Thanks again for all your comments/plays!

Hello.

I just played this level, and it was very cool, what a GREAT spider you built, very cool, didn't break, very consistent. The first time I summoned it, I was very very impressed, I didn't want to see screenshots because I like the surprise
I was kinda stuck at the bridge, one of the legs were stuck between 2 bridge logs, but when I realized that going further could break a leg, I used the thrusters. That was very helpful!

You earned a 5 stars and a heart

I will play all your levels later.

WOW! I am very impressed by our spiders movement! I tried to do that with my Fuchikoma but I failed. Maybe I should try again. That would be at least one reason to still play LBP. Maybe you could give me a hand with that.2010-05-11 04:06:00

I just played your level- wow, that was cool!
I loved the way the spider- but im going to call it a crab because it seems to fit it more - moved. The mechanisms were almost perfect. Perhaps you could put this into a proper story level.

Hi Gav....erm...a 'proper story'???? Would you like me to write a novel? I assumed there was story proper? NO?
Thanks for playing, and jokes aside, I think/hope maybe you mean do a NEW level with the mech right from the begining?
