URGENT question regarding LBP rules

Archive: 13 posts

I recently made a clan with a friend and it turned out to be much more popular than we had expected. So popular, in fact, that I'm getting around 40 friend requests per hour. We closed the clan to new members but this is still an issue. So I thought it would be much simpler if I made a clan email for people to send requests to, so I wouldn't have to pick through and reply to so many PSN messages.

However, this seems like it probably goes against some fine print somewhere.

So my question is, is this against the rules of LBP? Am I allowed to prompt players to email an email address? I certainly don't think so, but it's my only hope.

Alternative suggestions to this problem are welcomed!

My alternative is to make everything as organized as it possibly can (if it isn't already).

Set up some rules, lay out some guidelines, create some sort of hierarchy- just make some sort of foundation so that you and your fellow kinsmen can form off of that basis and adjust the system to your (and your members) liking.

I strongly discourage the whole "spreading an e-mail" thing around the public; it's bound to eventually lead to some sort of nasty individual and cause all sorts of trouble for yourself and anyone involved.

.... That didn't answer my question at all. All you told me was how to make my clan more appealing, which it apparently already is. And I'd (obviously) make a new email for it.

Does anyone actually KNOW the answer?

Geez, no need to sound harsh.

Besides, I don't remember a rule regarding people giving other people an e-mail address so that you can get "spammed" and "chain-mailed" and stuff. Do note that once you proceed with your plans (either going with your original or something else), there's no turning back.

So, there really isn't a rule against revealing your e-mail. But you have been warned...

here's a simple solution, make an account called (clan name) and tell people to send messages to it for requests, then you can just ignore them till you orginise and want more members!

i too have a clan, but my co leader is so lazy it's hard to make anything, we have 5 unactive people... i really need a clan HQ too, that might help a ton! but yeah, create a new account if you want to stop the requests from flooding your inbox!

Thanks, I thought about that.
But I'd like to be able to reply to every single one saying we're full. I can copy/paste a letter like that but it still takes ages.

And outlaw, I doubt I'll get a lot of spam. The only place that email would be is on that level.

So? Ever heard of those instances when people go into "Quick Play" and land in a random, locked level?

Yeah, but anywho; just saying proceed at your own risk.

Mmmkay, and the level wouldn't be locked.

And it's an email I created especially FOR the clan, so I'm not sure what "risk" you speak of.

Jack is just saying when someone gets an email address they can send junk, they can send all of their junk to you. They can send viruses etc. You never know what your going to get in your email.

Mmkay. I was just wondering more about the legality of it.

What i see alot in clan levels and they ask to "comment" that they want to join. If you do want to do that, no need for any email, or tons of messages in your inbox.
(just like what robotiod said)If i where you (and im not, LOL) i would never give out an email because thats saying "viruses come and infect me!" i dont remeber any fine print that says you cant do that.

I resolved this by directing them to a website where they fill out a form, which gets sent to an email I have set up.
