Race Track Ideas

Hello LBC'ers,

My latest Garage level has been in 'development hell' so to speak, since I can't come up with an exciting and interesting enough track. I've completely scraped two tracks (well, one actually, and the other was corrupted ) because it simply isn't exciting enough.

I've tried looking at some PS3 levels, youtube videos and all that trying to find something interesting to make but alas, nothing turns up. Now, some of the reason that my track might not be exciting is because my cars hate ramps and jumps. No joke, as soon as they touch a ramp they decide it's time to nose dive and flip themselves over.

So, I'm wondering if you guys have some ideas. The setting is city based, and the track length is almost the whole level, so there's lot's to work with.

There are some really excellent city scene race type levels on the PS3, but it's been ages since I've played them and I can't for the life of me remember who made them. Generally the whole level lasts about 1 minute, and the race itself is a whirlwind type race through detailed cityscapes.

I'll see if I can find some videos of the levels I'm talking about - I'd think they would provide some inspiration.

Since your cars seem to oppose the use of ramps, you could try making drops, like maybe a broken bridge?2010-05-01 17:16:00

Aha, wow, that does look nice. I wasn't planning on using that upside down method, but maybe I should.

Yeah, tried doing some falls. Although if the falls were too big they would flip still

Out of curiosity, how are your cars built? If they're flipping over as soon as they leave the ground it probably has something to do with how the vehicle is built.

EDIT: I just noticed that you were making a Garage level. I thought it was just a generic driving game when I asked that. :blush: Anyway, considering the number of combinations you're dealing with, you can ignore my question. Just try other chassis and propulsion methods and see what works.
