This is a level that me and my brother made last weekend. The reason it took so quick was partly because there were two of us working on it, but mostly because there isn't much theming in it. The tests themselves are not based on what you actually see in the movie. After watching that scene, I realised that they wouldn't translate easily into LBP, so we came up with some new challenges. There was originally going to be a system that made the rooms get faster the longer you survive, but it got scrapped because we couldn't find a way to do it without the movement system breaking or there being large gaps between the rooms.

Ok, played it. I did a :star::star::star::star:

It was good and I really liked it. Perhaps it looking a bit bare or the challenges being limited reframed it from getting a heart.

Overall, fun!

Hi Otune

Nice idea!

Took me four attempts to get them all, I had REAL difficulty with the small platform you have to jump on, all the other puzzles were good, simple, too the point and fun. I Liked the idea of the moving floor, it added a nice sense of urgency, with out having to use anoying start/finish gates.

I didn't really get the sence I was testing new suits though......idea: You could have cut scenes explaining each suit? :Jumping, fire/explosions etc?

Good effort, I gave you four stars.

Changes


In the fire test, you now jump over fire patches, instead of avoiding the fireballs.
The jumping platform test has now been replaced with the hanging test.
The rotating electric X shapes have been replaced with the swinging test
Minor alterations to other tests
For all tests, Edna now describes them to you, explaining why they use the test.
Edna no longer blows up when the explosion test comes round (but she does still get burn marks )
The test gradually get faster the longer you survive, although it's not particularly noticeable.
Various cosmetic changes.


Okay, after completely updating the level, losing all changes (http://twitter.com/iNibbler/status/13322409806), and doing it all again, I've finally updated the level, and I think it's a lot better than it was before.

Just made it through your level - pretty good conveyor challenge you've got there. I like how you took that one scene from the incredibles as inspiration for your theme.

-Played it twice to see the rest of the challenges - the first time I actually got 7 swinging sections in a row.
-Only one real gameplay suggestion - with the swinging and overhead grabbing sections, it seems like it would be nice to be able to get a second shot at those if you mess up. A player may or may not have enough time to successfully do so, but it'd be worth it to try.
-Visually, you've got a nice, clean look. I think you're just on the border of the visuals being kind of empty, but it works well enough.

Nice stuff. Please leave some feedback on my level "Dark Side of the Rainbow" when you get a chance.

played this just now....no offense but i can see why there is only one heart in this level...its EXTREMELY repetitive...and only 3 challenges? it got really boring really fast

i did like the concept of random challenges appearing everytime you play....but it only works if you have a ton of challenges not 3, this got really repetitive and really old really fast...sorry to say....i dont see any hearts in this levels future as i dont think anybody would want to replay this level


sorry to say, not trying to be an a-hole....just want to be honest...this level had a great concept...but it needs a lot of work

There are actually six challenges in the level, but the randomiser can sometimes miss out some for a long time. After yours and Radical's feedback I'm going to get rid of the randomiser. It seems to do more harm than good.

Just played the level.

This was a very interesting concept, and i really liked how the challenges were random each time. However, I have to pretty much say what the others have said. While its a great idea, it just needs a bit of work. It can become very repetitive very quickly, and I dont think others are going to replay the level, which means not many hearts will be gained. Adding more challenges would be a good idea for this, to keep it from being too repetitive. The visuals were a bit bland.

Some improvements have been made:

Two new tests, which adds more variety and you are less likely to get repeats (although it will still happen occasionally)
You now have a second chance if you fall off on the swinging or hanging challenges.


I'm pretty proud of myself for editing the randomiser to have eight outputs. It was actually quite easy, but since it's such a complicated piece of logic the idea of it seemed quite daunting. The new tests aren't too great, and one I think I have a better idea for anyway, and might change it soon.

Thanks for playing! I really don't have much idea on how to actually improve this. Changing the visuals too much would move it away from the movie scene it was based on, and I don't know how to make anything more random than the randomiser in the Logic Pack
