Any Penny Arcade fans here? If so, you probably already know about PATV. If you're not a fan, it's worth checking out (http://www.penny-arcade.com). Firstly, it's a videogame themed webcomic that publishes 3 days a week. Secondly, it's at the heart of gamer culture. They have PAX, or Penny Arcade Expo, which brings together gamers for an open, multi-day festival of games, music, panels, etc - like E3 but for gamers instead of press. Thirdly, they have a charity called Child's Play which raises money and collects videogames to give to sick children in the hospital. A brilliant idea, it turns out, and hugely successful. Fourthly, they have their own videogame series (On the Rainslick Precipice of Darkness) - it is available on PSN. I've only played the first one, and found it a fairly decent RPG mainly playable for the setting and humor. Mike Krahulik (artist - comic character Gabe) and Jerry Holkins (writer - comic character Tycho) have just recently breached Time's Top 100 most influential people in the world list, because they are arguably at the very center of a new entertainment culture in an industry that financially rivals movies. This year they started a new feature on their site, Penny Arcade TV, a series that chronicles day-to-day life at the Penny Arcade offices - from hiring new staff (which plays like an intense reality show) to ping pong tournaments, to the excitement of putting on PAX. There's also a sub-series of animated comedy sketches called Blamimations, but I'm not the biggest fan of these. Be sure to check out today's episode (http://www.penny-arcade.com/patv/pa-the-series/118/). It's actually, surprisingly enough, a touching and honest look at mental health and Jerry and Tycho's relationships to drugs. It's not every day you get this interesting and honest an outlook on drug use, I highly recommend it. Anyone else read this comic, watch this series, have any thoughts?
