The Mythos ~ Act II ~ Sunshine (Pictures and Video)

The Mythos ~ Act II ~ SunshineCogSpartan
After Climbing the Pathway of Light, our protagonist reaches the Temple of the Sun. Deep inside it's ancient walls, the entrance to the underworld lays, but can he open it?
(If you haven't seen Act I, I'd advise you do so for story and such: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=25315-The-Mythos-~-Act-I-~-Awake-(Pictures-Video) )

Well it hasn't been very long, but I've finished Act II! This level started as a single man project, but quickly after starting my friend (goldenclaw13) joined, and became my co-creator. With 2 people it was much easier to make, (aside from when the thermo started to randomly fill, which scared us)

In this level you have reached the bottom of the tallest structure in Mythos; the temple of the sun. You must make your way to the very top and help Solos (God of the Sun) with his problem,then you can proceed to the entrance to the underworld, locked by 4 locks that can only be opened through 4 challenges.

After some response from the last level, I decided to move away from the more serious tone, and go with a more humorous one, which is more of my style. This level uses some bright, cartoonish stickers, and has some funny dialogue. (Some of you may also recognize a character in this )

And remember to bring a friend! If you want to get all the tablets, you'll need at least 2 people!

The length of this level is around 10-15 minutes (estimate) and is at a medium difficulty.

Yea, guys, this is honestly a really great level, both parts one and two. Even if mythology isn't your thing, I highly suggest you at least check out the first level. The story is very well thought out and there is loads of details.

Oh, and it was a pleasure to work with Cog

@Shadowcrazy Thanks for the feedback

if you wanna PM what you were thinking for Cringe, I'd love to hear it, but it may not work, as I've got the whole story pretty much set in stone.

Also, I wanna know about the green section of the 4 locks, If it was too hard, or too easy. Thanks.

4 locks werent too hard...just the one with the small pillars was a bit of a bother since you had to have very good balance...but other then that it had enough difficulty for me2010-05-01 08:27:00

I went in and played both levels at once - very cool! Great visuals, elaborate and well thought out story, nice gameplay. The only part I wasn't crazy about were the moving glass platforms that push you into fire - seemed the glass was a bit much. But, that was a small thing. Also, in that same part I jumped into the circle with the light in the middle to get the points behind and had trouble getting back out.

I gave both levels 5 stars and a heart.

Wow, this was a really cool level. The gameplay was challenging, but it was still a lot of fun. I like the part where you went into the four sections one at a time before the end, the water one was my favorite. The part with the roatating wheel was tricky, yet ingenious. I liked the storyline, it was interesting. The visuals were really cool too, such as pretty much all of the characters (the one guarding the switch was my favorite), and all of the platforms and scenery. Overall, this was a nice level, you and goldenclaw did a great job.

I rated it :star::star::star::star::star:.

He is checking your level later and found it excellent, the story begins in an entertaining way that is also long in doubt keeps you at all times, has excellent roads and interesting tours, plus there are things that at first glance not and you realize you have to think a little longer to resolve, we really liked your robot to my wife and me, we took some pictures that we have published to your level, the jump from pillar to pillar is well recreated though difficult amuses try again and again. The music is appropriate for the development of history. You did a great job I have given :star::star::star::star:

This was a very satisfying level. It's hard to make a long level that keeps you entertained without it just dragging but this is definatly one that manages it.
I like how the visual style is kept throughout and especially like the details like the brickwork patterns in the walls at the begining, that was nice.

Things to maybe look at:

-The begining of the level doesn't hint at the greatness to come, it might be worth looking at adding a little bit more decoration to the begining.
-The double layer grab wheel was very confusing, that had me stumped for a bit, a less patient player may ragequit before then. The double pink arrows didn't help at all, lol
-When you're doing the coloured locks, when you push the button to unlock some of them and then you can get the points in the hole, when you jump in, it's very annoying to try and get out as the light gets in the way.
-The guard robot has a spelling error in his dialogue.
-The bit where the little dude says "go back the way you came", that's not very clear where you mean, your level is big and I got a little lost at that point, I thought he meant go ALL the way back which didn't help

Tweak those and this will be a pure quality level.

My F4F is the 2099 aerostation mars level in my signature.

@Asbestos101 Thanks!

Ok, for the intro, that's what I was going for. I wanted the temple to seem like nothing important on the outside, then be wonderful and bright on the inside.

The wheel IS a puzzle, so it's supposed to take some thinking

I made it so those don't dissapear anymore, so you can't get stuck.

What error was it exactly? I only found I spelt guarding wrong.

I made Solos say go back to the elevator so you know where to go.

Hope this is good

Really good level. It really has a kind of strange, unique style that I liked. The gameplay is very solid, with tons of unique obstacles, though a couple times I got confused and wasn't quite sure how I was meant to progress. I also liked it better than the last level, which, to me, had way too much disorienting teleportation. So far, the lore of this world is interesting, but I don't think you've utilized it very well so far, you've really just been introducing things and not using them. It was really polished and you used the History pack very well.

I agree with Asbestos above, that wheel thing had me confused, mainly because it's hard to see the sponge that's back a layer. Maybe if you made it a little more visible, that would help. Also, does the God of the Harvest have to be such an *******? If so, give us the option to kill him eventually. I would love to.

All in all, very good level. I gave it 5 stars and a heart.

Could you check out my Secrets of the Sky level? The link is in my sig.

Just played the first level and this one.

I really like the story. Usually I dont like story levels, but the fact that the story actually fits with the gameplay is very cool. The wheel puzzle confused me, just like lots of others, but finally i grabbed the other layer randomly, and thats how I solved it. I really liked the option of being able to open the locks in any order. One of the locks had me stuck for a while. It was the one with the very small platforms. Maybe its just me, but I was stuck there for about 5 minutes. Still, this is an amazing level.

5 stars, hearted, and tagged with brilliant.

@Awesomemans Thanks for the feedback!

I'm gonna add a second camera angle so you can see the other grabbable layer, so hopefully it's more obvious.

What do you mean about about not using the backstory? If you are talking about the tablets, those ARE secrets, and so they are just an addition, some of them will be explained more in the m ain story later.

(how come no one calls him Cringe? ) Well anyways, about Cringe, something does happen to him later, but his attitude will change. I didn't mean for him to be bad in this level ;o Don't know where he was bad.

@DreJ1212 Thank you also for the feedback!

As I said above, I'll make the wheel easier to use.

Also, the green room, (Which is the one I think you are talking about) is supposed to take some time and careful platforming. Its actually MUCH easier than it once was.

I'll get to both your guys' feedback soon!
