The LBP PSP Sackies 2010 - Nominees

Only a few months ago MediaMolecule gave Sackies to the very best and awesomest creators in LBP PS3. Now it’s time to honour the achievements of the PSP community. Here is a list of those nominated for a Sacky. [Extract 'borrowed' from LittleBigLand ]

Here at LittleBigPlanet Headquarters, we’ve been playing as many of the amazing levels that have been created by the community as possible, and have decided that we needed to give some recognition to those creators who’ve really impressed us, and reeled us in with juicy gameplay, art and dialogue. We hereby announce the PSP Sackies! There are six PSP Sackademy Awards:

Best Use of Story
Telling a story with LittleBigPlanet is often the last thing on a creator’s mind. However, some of you have taken the time to craft funny, interesting dialogue. And the Nominees are:

Best Vehicle
The rocket camel is a popular choice, and we’ve all made simple cars with a simple ‘grab switch and wheels’ set-up, but some creators have raised the bar. And the Nominees are:

Most Promising Creator
We look at a lot of levels, and want to recognise the achievements of those creators who aren’t at the elite stage yet. With these levels, we really like what you’re doing; keep doing it! And the Nominees are:

LittleBigPlanet is all about creativity, and when a creator does something innovative, we sometimes slap our foreheads (or someone else’s) and say “Why didn’t we think of that?” These creators thought outside the box. They also broke conventions, pushed envelopes and generally blew us away. Hats off to you. And the Nominees are:

Wow, that was totally unexpected.

Congratulations to all nominees, well deserved! They will have a hard time picking the winners, because there are many, many excellent levels & creators on the nominees list. There are some noticeable absences, though, and also some curious choices (IMO, some creators have better levels for the category where they've been nominated). And I really think they should have included a Best Puzzle Design category, because there are many great puzzles in LBP PBP (more than vehicles, that's for sure).

Anyway, I'm very happy to see that my Harp of Seasons has been nominated for the Best Gameplay award. It's funny how the level that was the most frustrating to create (and also the one that I was dissatisfied with because I had to cut out entire sections), in the long run has become the most popular, and now is a nominee for an Award!		2010-05-01 00:02:00

Woo-hoo! This is awesome! I was REALLY hoping for something like this, but I would have never expected it this soon (I guess that we have had the game for half a year though, haven't we ).

I had one huge accomplishment that no one else gets though! I am the only one who gets to compete against them self

And I really think they should have included a Best Puzzle Design category, because there are many great puzzles in LBP PBP

I agree with you 100% on this Lleonard! I would have loved to have seen a "Best Puzzle" category. I'm also surprised that there is no "Best Level" and Best Creator" category, but maybe that is for the better. Things may have gotten a bit rocky with those categories on the PS3 Sackies. Perhaps Most Promising (or whatever it is called) is the replacement for that category.		2010-05-01 05:15:00

Well, if it's anything like the PS3 Sackies, then all the nominees will win one, regardless of who is picked as the winner. From the PS3 Sackies post (http://www.littlebigplanet.com/en-us/news/article/the_sackies_the_first_annual_sackademy_awards/) on the official LBP site:-


Because picking a winner from these sets of nominees was so hard, each nominee for each category will automatically be awarded with a Crown for making it that far, and the winner of each award will be immortalised in LittleBigPlanet history as the winner of a Sackie, get a pat on the back, and if they are really lucky, a good-night kiss on the forehead and a cup of warm milk. There may be other rewards too. Intriguing!

As most know, I have a deep hatred of the game developers getting involved with rewarding creators, but at least you all are deserving. Hopefully, I'll make it next year, if I manage to finish the nightmare of a level I have now. Maybe we can all win some for the Labyrinth?

Yes, they spoiled the cake before handing it out. Luckily the ice cream on the side was fresh out of the store.

Hi fellow Creators,

Some of you may have seen the 'Superstar! Gold Rare Sticker' appear briefly on the PSN Store. Here's the lowdown on this particular item:

•It was put on the European Store by mistake. Precisely 105 were downloaded.
•Even though its rarity has been compromised, we will be giving this sticker as a prize in community held competitions over the next few months.
•However, we have five new Gold Rare Sticker awards for more specific achievements (such as artistic and technical ability) making an appearance in a couple of months' time, at which point we will stop giving out the 'Superstar! Gold Rare Sticker' and proceed with the new truly exclusive stickers instead.

We hope that clears everything up.

Cool! This is really great. Say what you want about Cambridge but they seem to be constantly upping their game with keeping the community interesting.

People have already mentioned this but I have to reiterate: all of the levels listed are absolutely awesome and totally deserve nominations, but in some cases it looks like they've taken a bunch of really awesome levels and dropped them into categories at random.

Interesting. Personally I would have put Scorching Scamper above Calamity Construction for both Artistic Achievement and Gameplay!
