Bold Users

Archive: 9 posts

This is an idea from another forum i used to be a memner at. (Well technically still am, just not active.)

What it was is that new member's userames are written in regullar typing, and when a user reached 200 posts their username would turn bold.

"Wouldn't that be elitist?" you ask?
Not at all, that forum sued to be one of those forums (no, not what you think) where everyone would take any opportunity to show off any sort of elitist mark to try to shut someone newer up, yet no one ever made a fuss concerning this.
Why?
Simple, because pretty much any active member had it.

To put it simply, the only thing that this does is to really show who's "active" and who isn't.

And it doesn't HAVE to be 200 posts, you can make it something like 100 or 50 so more people have it, like i said, this would only show who's active, since if you're active, 50 - 100 posts should be nothing, and if you were never an inactive member then not really much differnce.

What fo you say, Aye or Nay?

Well, this wouldn't really show activity all too much. Old members who don't visit anymore might have over 200 posts, but they don't visit I have a feeling it would give off more of an elitist vibe for certain users to be bold than anything.2010-04-30 10:52:00

IBy "active" mean people who actually been here and joined the community unlike may who just come, ad their level and leave, or those who join up and leave w/ no posts.
And elitist like explained would be minimal as pretty much all members would have this, no point in bragging on what everyone has, right?

Yeah, but... why? What purpose would bolding their names for having a lot of posts serve? Why not for having packages, which CC already decided against >_> So, yeah... you say it's not elitist, but how is it not? O_o Unless it's supposed to be to show who's active or helpful, but that can't be it <_<2010-04-30 20:40:00

I just wish we had the "Store" back. That way we could get the little features we wanted and it would not make anyone more "elite" than anyone else, but it would give everyone something to work toward and allow each user to be a bit more unique. It's not a matter of making anyone more "elite," just more unique... That's my wish.2010-04-30 20:56:00

Well, i'm just trowing it out there really, i liked this feature in the other sites i've seen it at, just thought it'd be nice in here too.

Don't really mind if you don't add it, i can see where why you wouldn't.

So yeah, just saying, add it if you like it, don't add it if you dislike it.
You probably would do that anyways.

I think it is an idea that has good points but also, some people may use it to say they are better than another person... Which wouldn't be good...2010-04-30 21:56:00

Well I think that such a thing should only apply to active members. Active being the key word. I don't think having x posts indicates activity so to speak. If only there's a way to see if someone has signed in once every x days, after that inactive. I am not sure how you can track this, there is a lot of factors. A bit like and statements, signed in every x days AND has posted at least x AND blah. You get what I mean. It could be handy for someone new to know someone they could ask for help. But other than that not sure I see a huge benefit to having this. And also names look fairly close to being bold to me already 2010-05-01 00:00:00

I want experience to come back. This would solve the problem of seeing who's active and who's not.2010-05-01 04:04:00
