| I believe it all has to do with the global lighting, first of all, different backgrounds give off different lighting, which means different "shininess," Also reducing brifgtness will sometimes help on decreasing the shine they give off, and increasing "darkness" might help, but not that much as its just increasind darkness, w.out decreasing lighting.
