S.I.A. Mission 1: 'Take' (V 1.1)Captain-Rule
Description:The Sack Intelligence Agency (S.I.A) has a job for you and it should be easy... Should.
Woohoo! I finally published my level!

The level is basically just a platformer and is my very first level. When I started on this level I was just trying to get a grasp of how things work, I wanted to try basically all of the different gadgets in the editor and somehow got a level out of it. The level is pretty different from a lot of what i have played before. I had a blast making it and hope you guys enjoy playing it.

pictures: http://picasaweb.google.com/captainrule/DropBox?authkey=Gv1sRgCKb7nMDrk4rgigE#

Update: I put out a new version of my level, that has some fixes in it. Basically, I fixed all of my speech bubbles. Plenty of them had the speech cut off and it took some trial and error (including rewrites of my text) and now it seems that it's all fixed. Also used a replacement word for fart, censoring ftl.

I fixed the boss, for some reason the sound objects connected to it weren't working. They work now, but not as they originally did (still can't figure out why).

Hope everyone is happy with the update/level.

Hey CR-

I'll have to leave you proper feedback later, but for now I'll just say that this level is pretty amazing. It's certainly a heck of a lot different than anything else I've played in a long time. I'm really impressed with all the tiny details that you only see for a moment, like the detailing on the skull and the little drips of stuff falling here and there. Very good use of humor as well.

As for feedback, I'm not sure if you're familiar with the F4F (feedback for feedback) system (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=22700-Feedback-for-Feedback) here but it's a great way to get lots of plays and reviews on your level. You can always edit your original post and switch it to F4F at any time.

@ Taffey, Thank you very much for playing! I'm glad that a creator of your caliber enjoyed my level. I worked really hard on it, and for way too long. Quite honestly, I just started making things that i thought would be cool, like a psp, a skull and a brain... Somehow that just evolved into a level (and apparently a pretty good one.) As for F4F, I personally don't have internet. I use my mobile phone to get online, but lbpcentral isn't too mobile friendly and i have a lot of trouble signing in. My girlfriend is nice enough to let me use hers, but I really come to her house to spend time with her. So i could do it but it would probably take me too long to do the feedback and make it seem like I'm not fulfilling my end of the bargain. I'd also like to say that you make some of the best levels I have played. Again, Thank you very much for playing.

Hey Captain Rule! This is a great level, the visuals were detailed and fun! The way you switched from outside the Creator to inside his brain and the rest of his body was done well. I love the droplets! The skeleton you see for just a second was awesome too- lots of great details everywhere in this level

I loved the intro and the "story" behind the level, using the PSP like that was very creative

Unique, lovely, and entertaining level, :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart!

Hi, Captain-Rule!

I already gave you my feedback on this level on workshop forum, so I want only say that it is really great level with very interesting and innovative gameplay. I saw some similar levels on PS3, but you create you own great adventure. So I think all players must try this level - there are a lot of interesting details and ideas.

BTW, Captain-Rule, yesterday, after playing your level I wrote post about this level here in The Recommendations Thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=19509-The-Recommendations-Thread&p=452024&viewfull=1#post452024), because at that time there was no any your posts about this level.

@Velcro Jonze: Hope you enjoy the level.

@Seeking Truth86: Thank you very much. I Tried very hard to make an actual Environment, it was challenging and fun. And I am glad you liked my visuals, your levels have some of the best visuals that i have seen, so that means a lot to me.

@Domik12: Thank you for the kind recommendation, and for the feedback. I saw that you posted my level in the recommendation thread and forgot to thank you. It is quite flattering to hear when people enjoy your hard work and i would like to thank everyone for post and/or playing.

Hey captain rule!
Very nice level! Your environment was awesome and i noticed it had moving parts that make it seem organic. so good job there! One improvement i could suggest though would be to use the front layer more. Maybe you could have added in bones or something?
anyways great gameplay! loved your objects, esp the handburger w/ sesame seed bullets XD!!

btw if you want to you can take a look at my environment tutorial (http://lbpsp.xpmob.com/tutorials/environment.php) (mobile friendly)

Hidy Ho Captian!

This level was a huge surprise for me. The name completely threw me off. I expected it to be some covert ops level where I infiltrate a base or something, and instead it was some really unique level about going through the body. AWESOME!

You did a wonderful job keeping it interesting the whole way through. As soon as I got used to a section of the level, you would toss me into a different part of the body. It all started off great too because I tried to jump over the opening head and got a trophy for it! Great stuff!

So let's see, the look of the level was incredible, it was a lot of fun to play, and it was unique... Yeah, I'd say this level is exactly what I like to see in a LBP level

I did have a few minor problems, but nothing that really bothered me.

First of all, one piece of dialog was really beaten up badly by the bugs with the Speech Bubbles. Not only was one of the words censored, but also the sentence was cut short It was the guy that says he is the soul or something like that.

Secondly, the fruit part was a bit tricky because that brain is in the way the whole time. I'm not exactly sure how the ground is shaped behind the brain, but I kept having a hard time getting out from behind the brain on the left or the right. It became especially hard once I had fruit back there. I have no idea if I was stacking fruit on my head, or getting stuck under part of the ground that sticks out, but I was seriously struggling, and it happened 2 or 3 times as I crossed behind the brain to get fruit from each side. It certainly didn't ruin the level for me, but it did confuse me a lot (what is the terrain like back there?)

Anyway, those are just tiny quibbles in an amazing level that I am so happy that you made! Keep up the awesome work!

This is a gret level! I think the mechanics worked best and that you definetly have the potential to become a great creator. The only thing that didn't work was when you were meant to grab the sponge then it breaks. I had to restart the level on my first go because nothing happened. I think some of the areas looked amazing but there were a few bits that you could do up.there were a bit too many cicular things that you grab onto, I personally hate them because they normally don't fit in with the scenery and look like the author hasn't put enough effort into it.
Ok, I've had my little rant, so back to the level.
It is definetly a must play, as it shows how much detail you can put into things.

Anyway, those are just tiny quibbles in an amazing level that I am so happy that you made! Keep up the awesome work! Thank you very much AmazingFlyingPoo! I KNEW this would happen sooner or later, The brain area was one of my favorite parts but was kind of unfinished to me. I had toyed with the notion of making the front of the brain clear glass, but it didn't look right to me. The inside of the brain is just a thin layer of dissolve that breaks when you fall in with the end of the 'rope'. I checked the height multiple times, and found that the jump is simple but for some reason it becomes difficult. I figure the problem is with the fruits and the checkpoint in there, I recommend doing your best not to fall into the brain. I had a lot of troubles with the 'brain cavity' for some reason or other it freezes every time I go near it in create mode. Luckily for me it was broken in any way and still works. The problems started with a little object drift, and then a 'mysterious wire' popped up out of nowhere and connected itself to the floor of the level. Shortly after that the whole area just would freeze. I even posted a video about it after things started getting buggy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_gbSk31uXM. About the speech bubble, I found that the word 'fart' is censored, which doesn't make any sense to me because the in-game audio object is called 'fart'. I understand that some people may find the word offensive, but cambridge or mm need to be consistent with their censoring. To censor the word online, but not in the game's tools section is kind of sloppy to me (not trying to nitpick, but that doesn't make very much sense to me). I haven't the slightest idea why the game cuts off some of the dialogue, I guess I'll have to break it down a little to accommodate the entirety of my story. Though I won't have a new version up for a little while, my Girlfriend is going camping in about a half hour and won't be back for a couple of days. :-( There will be no internets for me, until Monday.

@theforgotten, Thanks for giving your feedback on my level. I agree with the idea of round objects, but by the time I had my boss finished and built everything else I had the thermo maxed. Every time that I wanted to make something new I had to erase precious scenery. I eventually had to go through and erase a lot of my stickers and other random objects, including a lot of my sound objects. I eliminated most of my prize bubbles and had to get rid of most of my enemies. I felt discouraged when it finally came down to that. I settled for circular objects because using the corner editor made enormous jumps in what little thermo i had left. This is also whey the last parts of the stomach are very square. I even had to eliminate half of the throats moving parts. :'( But I am still proud of what I accomplished, especially when it got to a point where I had to make most of my pieces in a separate level and import them (especially larger objects

@memorex, Thank you very much... and I find it surprising to see that you are pretty much the first person to comment on the boss I made. I felt particularly proud when i got it to work and was happy that it was on my first try. Though, it seems to have broken a little in the upload, because none of its sounds can be heard (might try to figure out why tonight). /way too long post.

This level was magnificent.
I remember seeing the preview, and I forgot all about it.
Anyways, I just gave this level a go and it was touching.

I liked your creations, such as the brain and skeleton.
It disappoints me that the skeleton is only thee for a second, but it happens to be very well designed.
I liked the brain a lot. I wondered how you made it, but you kind of just stuck to one sticker and started to make the pattern of a brain.
The game play was fun and interesting. I liked the theme of the level.

The level was cool with the designs and the level took place inside the body.
There is nothing bad about the level except the part with the brain.
I had to struggle my way through the brain. In fact, I killed myself to get out, instead it spawned me in the brain.
I managed to get out of coarse, but I did not enjoy that experience as much.

I don't have anything to say about you level.
It's got the basics and it consists of good gameplay.
Length of the level is quite good too. Corner Editing were amazing too.
Out of the five stars, you received 5 out of 5. :star::star::star::star::star:
Anyways, I'm glad to play this level, and will look forward to your future creations.

Until we meet again,

That is one impressive first level Captain. I like your style of level designs, very original, and your story was very intriguing. The art design was top notch. Great first level.

I gave you five stars, heart, and one for creator.

Great job!!

Story

+ An interesting story, and definitely not what you'd expect (especially based on the name of the level)
+ Just when you think you've completed your mission you're thrown into a completely new one, wrapped in danger and deception
- Dialogue issues; ie. word "farts" (context: brainfarts) was censored, and speech bubbles cutting off

Gameplay

+ A platformer, through and through
+ Most gameplay elements are fun
+ Level is very detailed, though it seems to decline slightly towards the end
+ The Take Worm boss fight is interesting and unique
- It's very difficult to get out from behind the brain, seemingly because of elevation issues
- The Take Worm fight gives no indication of what you're supposed to shoot, or if you've hit it, creating a feeling of confusion as you constantly shoot the sesame seed cannon and have no audio or visual signs of progress
- After defeating the Take Worm, it is possible to get stuck between some of his still-moving circular body sections. I had to retry to get out

Final Thoughts
This level contains a high amount of detail and complex design. There isn't much I can say, it's a good level, but could use some touching up here and there.
On less related note, 2427 points? Is that possible? Or is this Creator Curator power abuse I see before me? Considering no one else's score is even above 1000... mine's the highest (other than yours obviously) at 646. Tsk tsk.

Hey Spark and Hi velcro: I thank the both of you, and would like to say that I am very much inspired by the work that you both do. I am very glad that you guys enjoyed my level.

@xero, I love your feedback style. It was very much to the point and I really liked the use of the + and -. I knew that eventually someone would notice the score. I didn't actually play, when I was working on my level my girlfriend was very much a part of it. She fed me ideas and helped me try to balance out everything. She even urged me to make my boss harder, much harder. Well, after I had completed the level and published it, she hadn't seen or played the finished product. She knew where I put just about everything. I have a bit of prize bubbles hidden here and there... I even told her people wouldn't like that afterwords. As for the worm, I should put it somewhere that it is actually the eye that you must shoot. I never really thought about that, and it does seem to be unclear. And it is correct that the details seem to get less detailed at the end. I had to start eliminating stickers and other details by the time I got to about the end, unfortunately.

Thanks everyone for playing! This has been a great learning experience, I am glad people are looking past the flaws in my level and enjoying it so much. I'll publish an updated version as soon as I can get some wifi.

Hey Captain Rule,

I remember watching the video preview of this level a while back, and I was really excited to see the final product. Well, this level was everything I expected, and a whole lot more!

Not only was this level well-constructed, but the story-line and gameplay was amusing and engaging. I found myself laughing one moment, and queasy another. One emotion I didn't feel, however, was bored. Every moment was titillating and provocative, and at the end, it left me wanting more of your spontaneity and spunk. Great job, and congratulations on the Spotlight! Very well deserved.

Grabbing the uvula Great stuff right there. I burst out laughing and got some crazy looks from my family, it was worth it.

Thank you very much. I am rather new to the LBP scene, so I wasn't sure what spotlight goodness was. I mean, I've been into LBP since I was the E3 trailer for the ps3 version (sadly I didn't have a ps3, finally got one about 2 weeks ago.) I'm glad to have given back to this community.

On another note, the spotlight review/quotes are oddly poetic. It sounded like an excerpt from a movie review.

Killer level Captain - totally deserving of the Spotlight. Congrats on an excellent creation!

We all had a good laugh after playing this level. It's just so weird how can you not like it? It's funny, detailed, varied, clever, and surprising. Most of all, and my favorite, it's just hands-down bizarre! I'm glad someone had the guts to make a level like this.

Oh! Guts. I made a funny.

Yeah, it is unfortunate that you lose hearts, plays and stars. Though I didn't want to just leave a slightly broken level out there. I still have no idea why the sound objects for the worm didn't work, I just increased the radius by 1 for each of the switches and they work, but the radius doesn't change much, and I still don't know why the text was messing up, but it seems to all be good now. Anyways, I don't care so much for the hearts and junk. I just want everyone to enjoy what I've done.

I have started on my second level, today actually. I made a couple of simple parts and it is already awesome, I just hope it doesn't take me another 3 months.

Finally got a chance to play it all the way through, and I must say I'm very impressed with the level design! Those subtly moving fleshy parts really give the impression of being inside a living thing... I found myself reminded of Devil May Cry 3's 'Belly of the Beast' level. And that's a very good thing!

I too had a little trouble with the brain, but nothing too terrible.

The boss fight was awesome, he didn't seem to pose much threat but killing him was very entertaining I'd love to see something similiar, but tougher, in your next level.

5* for the quality of the artwork alone, everything else is a bonus! Hearted & Creator Heart.

Hey man! It's about time I got to playing this - it's been a hit for quite some time. Well, not much I can say at this point except it's pretty epic - a great idea for a level. I had some trouble with the brain part, then the sliding food, but other than that the level was amazing. Your eye for detail is impressive, and I love the shifting floors in the digestive system. Good luck with your next!2010-05-17 01:52:00

Hey Captain! I have to say that I love this level, it's far too good to be your first one! I had a similar idea to this ages ago, (you know, go through the human body), but I gave up because I didn't think it was possible to do it this well. The PSP at the beginning was well made (my idea, maybe?), and it continued being great right until the end. 5 stas and a heart, keep up the good work!

Hey FamousCustard,
Glad to see you like My Level! This really was my first level, crazy innit? I spent about 3 months in the level creator, and I have the suspicion that most of that time was just trying to figure out how everything works... Still can't figure out those wobble bolts though *head asplode*. Sorry to say though, I played PSP World after I started this level... Though I was kind of ashamed of my psp when I saw yours and I may have borrowed the circle sticker around the buttons.

Hi5 for me getting 2 of them to work... I was originally putting in signs to indicate what parts of the body you were in. I initially was going to make static signs, but they would constantly drift... So I tried to make signs with wobble bolts and couldn't figure them out, I ended up sacrificing them for thermo space. 2010-05-20 07:44:00

As you mentioned your skeletons I had to compare them.
But yours is complete and mine is only a head and vertebra in different sizes so I think I cheated a bit.

I like the organic look of your Level it is truly extraordinary!
The Boss Fight impressed me, and many places in your Level made me smile,
I love the sesame seeds gun.

The intestine has almost cost me a few gray hairs, it took forever until I was through it.
But it was worth it, your level is really great!

So I gave you 5 Stars and a Heart

Thank you very much! I am glad you enjoyed the level! My skeleton took forever to make, I didn't have the option to flip anything because that update hadn't come out yet. It can be a pain to make a whole bunch of the same stuff, without a copy function. The boss was a pain to figure out, I made the boss and it worked nearly perfectly after the very first try, I just wasn't (and am still not) satisfied with its attacks. Wow, I kind of started to think that my level would sink into obscurity, but I'm glad to see it hasn't. I checked a minute ago, and it has gotten nearly 500 plays (492 as of now). That is crazy, I don't know why it jumped so far the last few times I checked it was closer to 200, and I am very happy. I had a huge amount of fun with that one and am hard at work on my 3rd level ( though I've had my share of distractions, CURSE YOU METAL GEAR SOLID PEACE WALKER!), though I am having the same difficulties as the first with thermo space. And Thank you Very Very Much for the love and play time for my level. The community has completely exceeded my expectations and I am glad you and many others have enjoyed my level so much.
