Give me one movie based on a game that actually rocks. Dont give me tombraider, they suck. Give me any game based on a movie that rocks. (Besides Warriors for ps2, that one almost blends with the movie and making it better). | 2010-05-05 16:13:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
Well I liked silent hill the movie, not sure I'd go as far as saying it rocked but compared to all the other rubbish movie adaptations of games I've seen it was refreshing. Can't name a game based on a movie though, I don't think movies fare too well coming over to this medium. I'm sure it can be done but yeah, a lot of garbage out there looking for a quick buck. I don't think games going the way of movies are looking for a quick buck but often they are just plain cheap. Not enough effort and money goes into them to do the games justice. Likewise with games of movies, really effortless. I haven't played it but Arkham Asylum seems to be the way for that, not going by a movie so to speak but making a game using that universe. As for Prince of Persia, hmm no I don't think I will. Never really got the games so the movie does nothing for me. | 2010-05-05 16:36:00 Author: OneEyedBanshee Posts: 1370 |
I think I will watch it as I love action movies. Being a movie adapted from a game, getting it to feel like it is a totally different thing because there is no great way to move a videogame into a movie and still keep true to the esscence of it. Movies that are based off anything will usually take their own direction as a director sees fit, as opposed to keeping true to the esscence of it. | 2010-05-05 16:37:00 Author: damaz10 Posts: 771 |
Eh, I just wanted to watch this movie, because some gaming sites (ex. GamePro) have been keeping a close eye on it... that and there's nothing else to watch. | 2010-05-05 21:50:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
Maybe, I probably will, but on DVD/Bluray, I don't think going to the movie theater to see it is worth it:/ | 2010-05-06 01:23:00 Author: ExplosiveCheddar Posts: 978 |

(Besides Warriors for ps2, that one almost blends with the movie and making it better). I can't think of any great movies based on games. Hitman was okay, and Silent Hill was actually quite decent too, but I wouldn't say that either of these "rock". Great games based on movies? Well...Scarface, The Thing, Star Wars: KOTOR, the lego series (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc.), a handful of 007 games (Goldeneye, Everything Or Nothing, etc.), and Disney's Skate Adventure spring to mind. | 2010-05-06 03:57:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
Yeah honestly, they've never cracked the videogame adaptation. And every single time it's the same thing. The filmmakers say "oh, nobody's made a really good videogame movie, so that's what we're going to do." Whoops! Another crappy videogame movie. From what I've seen of Prince of Persia, there's nothing there to convince me they've done a better job than the other guys. Maybe more money was thrown at this one? Please Nintendo, never, ever, ever, to anybody, ever sell the movie rights for Zelda. Keep it safe! | 2010-05-06 06:20:00 Author: Teebonesy Posts: 1937 |
To add to my previous post, I must say that I quite enjoyed the Resident Evil series of films too. Although they didn't exactly "rock", they were entertaining enough and far better than the average adaptation movie. | 2010-05-06 06:45:00 Author: Ungreth Posts: 2130 |
hmm... never played them, but i might see it! word is they are making a GAME for it... so... a game, based on a movie, based on a game? gah, my brain hurts! | 2010-05-06 15:08:00 Author: theswweet Posts: 2468 |
