New UK anti-fileshare law could be problematic

Archive: 1 post

I'm not much of a legal person. I tend to think of myself as rational and logical, but understanding legal issues and legislation seems to require equal parts super-genius I.Q. and batshtuff insanity. That said, I've just read about a new law in the UK, which is meant to combat illegal file-sharing (piracy). There seems to be some problems with the bill. I won't attempt to recap them here 'cuz I wouldn't be able to do it justice (and I'm still not completely sure whether the bill is actually bad or not).

Here's a link to a site that takes issue with the bill and is seeking help in protesting it. http://www.dontdisconnect.us/the-proposals/

Again, I don't fully understand it all, and it may actually turn out that it's a good thing, but if you live in the UK, you may want to take a look at it and, if you find it objectionable, write to your.... um.... I dunno' what they call 'em in the UK. Legislator? MP?
