Thermometer Randomly Overheating
Archive: 6 posts
Me and my friend have been hard at work on a level. So far our level takes just over half the thermo. But we have a problem. Sometimes, when I edit ONE corner, on a shape that only has 4 or so sides, the thermo fills to the top. If we can't fix this, we can't continue. Please help! (if you need a video, tell me, I've got one ready to upload.) EDIT: we may have found a solution. It seems if each piece has dark matter in it, it doesn't bring up the thermo. Hopefully this works, but if you know any other reason why this would happen, I'd love to know why. | 2010-04-27 04:15:00 Author: Kog Posts: 2358 |
LOL, good luck with that. My level's also been really weird lately. :kz: | 2010-04-27 05:09:00 Author: Jazve Posts: 341 |
Well then it seems you might have just discoverd V3! V1 - Thermometer autofilling on its own over time. (Patched/ fixed) V2 - Thermometer slowly crawling up every time you rewind, fast forward, or unpause. (Patch/ fixed) V3 - Thermometer fills up while editing an object aparently. Well m8, as far as i know, the "V" glitch is caused by adding many emiters, or a specific "corrupted" oersay, object that once placed into the level will affect the thermometer with either V1 or V2. But this is the first time i've heard of V3, so i don't know if that really helps much... I'll look into that one and tell ya if i find anything. | 2010-04-27 05:45:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
Is it only when editing existing shapes Cog, and it's USUALLY fine with new ones? It's happened to me a few times in various levels for a long time now. Leave it for a few seconds and open your popit and it drops back to normal. Or at least it has for me, and rtm I believe. It sounds like the same bug. I tried to work out what was causing it but never managed it. | 2010-04-27 07:40:00 Author: GruntosUK Posts: 1754 |
Yep, same thing as grantos, this is nothing new. I can't remember whether you need to deselect the object you are editing to bring the thermo back down again, or if it will do it on it's own. Assuming that your level does not fully overheat, you should be able to do multiple edits in one go and then let the thermo drop. With regards to the embedded DM fix, remember that while that is less scary and easier to use, it will cost you long term, so you may wish to keep those pieces of DM visible so that you can remove them easily later on in development. | 2010-04-27 09:40:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |
Me and Adi have had it a few times that people joining in the editor saw the thermo as maxxed. Even I had it, while Adi could build.. My thermo was full and I couldnt do squat. I think it had to do with a memory problem as I allready loaded several heavy levels prior to joining Adi. | 2010-04-28 16:51:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
