Remaking Cool Pages

Archive: 7 posts

Hey Gadders! As you all must know, the Cool Pages is currently experiencing technical difficulties? and by that, I mean we technically have some abusers on the Community. So, with the Cool Pages gone down the road to Bad Pages, I decided we ought to pitch in and help a bit.

So, introducing the first ever (trust me, I know... I checked... online....):

Remaking Cool Pages

Ya I know, not creative on naming the project, but it's the thought that counts.

Anyways, I hate to see the spam levels jump on to the first page of the Cool Pages. Quite frankly, the best levels are always in the back of this ?book?, so to speak. So in an effort to help this situation out, I?m hoping we can find a way to resolve this problem and, hopefully, get Mm to use this solution to fix the Cool Pages.

So far, my ideas are:

Make the Cool Pages consist of nothing but Mm Picks.
Levels of certain ?Plays? are the only ones that show up on the Cool Pages.
Make the Cool Pages a randomizer of all the highest played levels (so when you exit, the page automatically selects new levels to display).

It's still a work in progress. I?m just hoping that Mm would consider fixing the system.

So, any contributers?

This is horrible. MM don't keep a great eye on the community (see sackies) and they, just like the rest of us, tend to stick to creators that they know / recommendations from friends etc. This bullet point would basically make it almost impossible for unknown creators to get a break. Not to mention the simple fact that any manually selected level listings is always going to be biassed and based upon a limited selection of what is available.

Levels of certain “Plays” are the only ones that show up on the Cool Pages.

I'm not sure what this means...

Make the Cool Pages a randomizer of all the highest played levels (so when you exit, the page automatically selects new levels to display).
This would simply go further to promote the generic survival challenge levels that are most people's issue with cool pages ATM.

Overall, you can't have a manually selected system, as that would give a very uneven playing field. An automated system cannot actually detect quality either. That's not to say that it can't be improved, but I would suggest that it's never going to be fixable.

I can't really be bothered to make any suggestions here. It has been covered so many times and MM have pretty much demonstrated several times that they have little to no interest in improving the Community aspect of the game (they don't even fix up genuine bugs in the system).

how about instead of showing we like a level with stars, we give positive reviews with a rating....most of those H4H dudes don't like to post comments anyway so it might be sweet....

I dunno, im just saying what comes to me at the moment...

Okay, how about this idea?

We go this YouTube style. "Share" (or recommend in other words) to friends. The Cool Pages are nothing but random levels, and the best levels have their own section (hence Featured Levels).

The problem with this is the fact that some of the "lesser known" creators Good levels wouldn't be featured, it would be like taking away from the poor, and giving to the rich, if you know what I mean.2010-04-28 17:04:00
