Disppearing things... during object capture?
Archive: 8 posts
So, I've had some instances with things disappearing during object capture. Like, I made a little plane, disolve, stickered, attached to piston, attached to dark matter. I captured it. I emitted it, and it appears and flies (so I know it's all together), but when I paste the object in an empty level (to edit it) the piston is missing... Anyone ever see this behavior (know what causes it, so I can avoid it in the future)? I've seen the same thing happen to sound attachements. They are there when you emit the object, but you have to re-add and hook all the wires back up if you paste the object to modify it, because the sound object (but not the one next to it hooked to a switch) dissappears during the paste. It shouldn't be the capture radius -- the missing items are not on the outer edge, and I'm very careful to extend beyond the edges of the object I'm capturing. | 2010-04-26 21:14:00 Author: SledKnight Posts: 93 |
i know what you mean. i have grab switches randomly disappear when i capture it. i have no idea how to fix it though. | 2010-04-26 21:16:00 Author: trip090 Posts: 1562 |
Sometimes, you may have to let the object load before you place it. So select it from your pop-it, but don't place it until you think it's done loading (varied on complexity). | 2010-04-26 21:34:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
Well, its actually pretty simple... and I can see the piston and attached wire in the ghost overlay... but when I place it... nada. (if I have time, maybe I'll try to figure out the 'why&apos | 2010-04-26 23:13:00 Author: SledKnight Posts: 93 |
I have decorations disappear on captured objects all the time. Not sure why but yep - your not alone. | 2010-04-26 23:15:00 Author: Morgana25 Posts: 5983 |
To sometimes prevent it, try moving things like grab switches, decorations, sound effects, etc to the front of the material instead of the sides. To fix it directly, you have to remake the material(s) that the switch or decoration is attached to, and replace the switch or decoration. | 2010-04-26 23:23:00 Author: Incinerator22 Posts: 3251 |
ive had this too, a crucial piston won't replicate even if im just copying the object within the level | 2010-04-27 03:32:00 Author: Littlebigdude805 Posts: 1924 |
I think it's a last update's bug. Because I had a problem with disappeared piston too while had been trying to glue to object or cut from it with attached piston... And I couldn't fix this problem. I don't remember such bug befor the last update. | 2010-04-28 16:25:00 Author: Unknown User |
