2p U.F.O. Flying Challenge

So me and McKamey created this very stable good manouverable U.F.O.
Frederique made one, and I thought I could improve the design.
Eventually I made a 2 player one that is very easy to handle and you would be able to land on 3 big grid long platforms.

Would it be cool to make a "challenge" level where you have to land on platforms or collect "Stars" within a certain amounth of time?

I believe I'm wrong, but this reminds me of the old arcade game in which you have to land a lunar lander on 3 platforms.

Good idea though!

Ok here is something me and CM came up with (with a little imput from robocrash)

the UFO:
The UFO (no other name yet) is a 2p controlled vehicle.

The top player:
has more controll over steering and boosting.
Has little room to walk left/right to tilt UFO for horizontal flight.
Just a small tab on the grab will allready move the UFO (if p2 activates hover).
So with a few tab's on the grab you will allready be able to move the UFO where you want it to go, as slow or as fast as you want.
If p1 jumps while UFO is tilted it will reduce tiltedness (unless overabused)

The bottom player (directly under top player)
controlls the hover function of the UFO.
If done well, you can actually hover at any location, need top player to counter tilt/decrease height.
Can lower ufo by tab-releasing Hover-grabswitch.
Can boost up horizontal flight by releasing hover for a small second so UFO gets more speed as its "falling".
If UFO falls upside down, P2 will auto-activate UFO recovery, making ufo rotate into stable flying position.
If p2 Jumps when in flight, it will activate emergency speedbreak that will cancel out upward vertical movement. (more advanced difficulty to master though).

Tractor Beam:
Tractorbeam will probably be activated when near Cattle, does what you expect it to do.

Other UFO related things:
Very manouverable when you get the hang of it, and are playing with a friend (without lag).
You should be able to land on a 3 big grid horizontal platform with some ease after some practicing.
You should be able to fly trough narrow hallways if you put in some good teamwork.
Players are not able to jump out while inflight.
There will be around 10-15 places where your sackboys can savely land and get out of the UFO to explore the enviroment.
Will probably come with a small "UFO drivers licence level" you need to complete before entering the real level.
You will phone home to recieve a new UFO when you die/lose it. (allready near completion, looking very cool!!)


Possible "Challenges"

* Find all landing locations, Bigger bonus after finding each location.
* Use tractorbeam to collect Cattle DNA, increased bonus after each newly collected DNA.
(Cattle will try and run away from you)
* Collect flowers for biological study, Bonus increases after each flower. (completed, need to place it)
* Collect various metal ores for soil study, bonus increases after each ore collected. (completed, need to place it)

Other possible challenges:

* Disable satelites, oh noes they found you quickly disable the satalites! (probably timebased action event)
* Recover alien ufo data from crashed ufo (probably timebased action event)
* gta style flying race, where you have to fly from checkpoint to checkpoint.
* Hovering challenge, Hover within a certain radius for a certain time to gain points.


Enviroment:
Grand-canyon like enviroment that uses the whole level for 2p ufo flying exploration.
Possible funnies: Cacti, tumbleweed, caves, vulcano.

well atm its not much fun, but a little frustrating..
you kinda need to hover above the cow to make it go up..
and its still somewhat hard to make the UFO not wobble.
but im sure we will manage to fix that.

The cows, plants and ores are in.
There will be a ufo crashing
Very very cool check-list-board made by c_Mckamey, involving rtm waterfall on steroids and then sum.
Ufo flying has been improved (again)
Almost 2 weeks of late-night (4 am) work on the ufo alone.

and much much more.
