PSN "comments"

Archive: 35 posts

Does anybody really read what other people written in their "comments" section in their PSN profiles? (You know, the little comment in a white text bubble above the username in your friends list)

I mean i do, most people in my PSN friends list know that as i usually writte little jokes, make a comment or ask about it.

but i was wondering if people really pay attention to these?
I've placed several random comments as an experiment to see if i get ANY response, but so far none whatsoever, i might get one every once in a while, but its rare, and that got me thinking that people don't really pay attention to these, sometimes they don't even know they put a certain comment...

So do you guy pay attention to these or simply don't care?

I do pay attention to these, I often ask my friends about their comments (i.e someone comments about a football score, well, I'll ask for the teams and stuff)2010-04-25 21:39:00

That's one of the first things I do when I turn my PS3 on. I check who's online, then read everyone's comments. And sometimes send them a message about it (For example, once someone said in their comment that their head was on fire, I PM'ed them saying, "Lol, I hope your comment is a joke" Thankfully it was...)

I usually change my comment everyday....

And, General Gaming would have been a better place for this...

I notice it when I go through my PSN friends list (which I only do if I am looking to play with someone), but I don't think I'd ever make a comment about it.2010-04-25 21:57:00

LOOOL @ Shhabbazz!

I read them but I don't think people want me bothering them with a comment about it
So I usually just leave them be, have a chuckle or just make a wtf face

Lol, no.. Mine has said the same thing for quite a while. Hence, I got a little laugh about your message, Yaru. I guess it's still true, though!2010-04-25 22:56:00

I usually read them right away! If I have a lot of friends online, I won't bother with them all, but I always read them before I send that particular person a message. I send messages about comments, too.2010-04-25 23:24:00

It's funny that people notice what my comments are but somehow miss that my "unavailable" light is on. 2010-04-25 23:34:00

I dislike how comment character space is so short when there is still space left. 2010-04-26 01:24:00

I have ideas but I can't write anything good! I agree with warlord.

I think what's funnier is the "about me" section of your psn profile, near "languages" and "trophies". It has somewhere near a 10-20 character limit. I have no idea who pays attention to those.

My friend likes to jump on my PS3 when I'm not there and change my comment to something like "I smell like poo", just to make me seem like some immature and rather smelly ten year old. And those types of comments rarely cause any of my friends to respond, so maybe no-one cares what I write in my comment anyway ... 2010-04-26 23:03:00

Funny how that works isn't it.

Yea I read them, but then again I usually am looking to see if someone is available to join/invite by how many people they have over and where they are in game.... you know - rather than just spamming join requests for 10 minutes. That's right, I said it.

If I don't have anything new to promote level wise, mine usually just says "LBPC Rocks!"

I read them when on the XMB. My friends tend to have the same message most of the time.
I don't even know how to edit mine.

Oh hey, i got responses!

Well, anywho, Chuck, Joey, Comphermic, Coxy/ IceMaiden (whoever you are...) you know first han how i like to make little comments or jokes on those comments.

Burnvictim...well you don't really have a comment, so i don't have much to work with, now do i?
But do be aware of a name related joke i'll send ya later.

Morganna, i'd make a joke, but i can't think of any...
You usually comment on level progress, oh but be asure i will come up with something, there is no comment i can't make a joke about! >

Anywho, too bad many people keep the same thing many days as i can't keep coming up with jokes if its the same thing

Oh and Coxy/ IceMaidennd i don't see what's wrong with sending people messages about their comments, they're the ones that want to display them to others, so amking commnets about them shouldn't bother them. :0
(speaking of which, you haven't answered my last couple of messages >_>)

Yeah, it kinda sucks when people don't answer to my jokes of their comments.

It's ironic how you send me those PM's on PSN, and then the first thread I stumble upon when I get on LBPC is this. 2010-04-27 00:27:00

I do always read them, and I usually gets responses on my PSN comments

Once I had "meow" in my comment, and someone replied "woof"

I usually read the comments. Sometimes I go in a little deeper and read the info in the profile... but that's only when I compare trophies (yep, I'm a trophy-addict).

I've also found it helpful to have comments when you just need someone to talk to. For example, I left a comment saying "EARTHQUAKE!!!" when San Diego was hit by a 7.2 not too long ago. I got some comments back and felt much better that people were aware.

I always check my friends' comments. Most of them don't make much sense or aren't worth writing a message to them about. I usually only send one if they write that they're sad/upset/sick/etc to see if I can cheer 'em up.

Most don't seem to check mine though. People will still try to join me or send messages even though it clearly says "Do not disturb" or "Brb". And then when I don't respond, they think I hate 'em.

When Skeggers and I (yes, we know each other) go to this persons house, whenever they leave the room we change their comment and about me to "I am homosexual" or "I am ***" or something along those lines... Good times....

Also, has anyone noticed how it doesn't let you write some words in your about me (like swear words), but you can write anything in your comment (with no censoring at all) even though the comment is more likely to be seen?

Yeah, But that's a good thing. Freedom Of Speech FTW!

Also, on Text chat, the name "Mick" is filtererd. I now refer to one of my friends as ****, Not Mick.

I like reading my friend's comments, and I know that some of my friends have read mine because I've got responses to them before. I wish the amount you would write in the comment box was larger, though!2010-04-28 02:53:00

I have fun with my comment box. A while back I wrote in "catnip XD" and me and my friend had a very long back and forth psn mesages about how my cats were like on catnip. Ahhh... good time...good times.. I also like to write something funny whenever I can, you never know who needs their day perked with some funnism! I used to put "feelin nawesome" and that was a statement that told the truth. And yes, nawesome is my made up word which will become a legal word once I discover how to do that.2010-04-28 21:49:00

To get a reply from somebody when they read your comment, write: 'Rice Krispies or Corn Flakes?'

You're bound to get an answer. Mostly Corn Flakes.

I quite often argue with one of my friends in the comment box. One of our conversations went something like this, all in the comment:

Me:
MAG Didn't Last Long

Him:
Neither Did UC:2AT (Uncharted 2)

Me:
I still play it

Him:
I still play MAG

Me:
When was last? (Ran out of room xD)

Him:
Wha-?

Easier than sending PSN messages, although not so easy to notice

I often get responses to my comments if they're relevant to anything, and not something like "X!@!$#@%#$#$)voodeedoo#$)%*#)$*%#)" or "in my danky corner of doom i weep in sadness over loss of my true love".

Often they regard Youtube vids I put out, or songs or levels.
