My newest and in also my most time-killed level. I worked very hard on this level and I hope you can appreciate it!
''You are trapped in The Cellar. Find your way out''
The cellar took about 8 weeks to finish and it's maybe my best level. There are a lot of puzzles in this level and some of them really challenging to your brains. Even if you think that you are stuck and you can't move up don't worry. There is always a way to move up. Just keep your eyes open even for smallest changes. Level has been tested so many times that I can't even count so far, but there still might be little places you get stuck in or something. Comments are very appreciated!
Special thanks to: Valmet802 , Yunie0 , Oba98 , Kaasu , Jumaja and every other who tested this before publishing! Also big thanks to AbstractSam who put in some screenshots!
I do F4F! Go to the AbstractSams second letter for screenshots please!

Sounds cool. I'll check it out. By any chance, did you play my level The Basement? It has a similar premises to this level.2010-04-25 19:52:00

Just played it. I think it's your best level yet.

Pro:
-The puzzle gameplay is simple yet satisfying. Arrows and signs are pointing you in the right direction.
-The level looks very good. The Incredibles-materials work rather well here, even the black leather sofa cushions. Creepy kinda cellar... come to think of it.
I like the rust stickers on the tiled walls, and the lighting on the hanging-on-the-ceiling-part.

Improvement:
-Perhaps you could add another save point just behind the hanging-on-the-ceiling-part. In case you die swimming under the spiked blocks you have to redo the hang-and-grab, and that gets tedious after a while. (And yeah... I got killed by the spikey blocks three times in a row...:blush

Very good level; I'll be sure to return to check out the 2 player challenges.

It would be great if you could take a look at my newest level: The Strange Denizens of Interzone.

Ok. Thank you for feedback. I'll add checkpoint there and play your level. BTW it would be nice to hear how many stars you give to level. And I mean everyone who plays this one.

Weird.. Hmm, I'll play your level and PM you some screenshots.

EDIT: Finished playing your level. The visuals were actually kind of surprised, because I guess I kind of expected a darker look for a title with "The Cellar". They weren't bad though, I actually liked them.

The gameplay was rather simple, moving sponges, pressing buttons, etc. Still fun though. The level really did justice to the Canyon levels. Hmm, I really don't have any complaints besides it was a little too simple. Great visuals, average gameplay, and good length.

I gave it :star::star::star::star:.
I'll look forward to what your new levels.

Can you leave feedback on Cemetery Drive (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=25672-Cemetery-Drive)? Thanks.

Oh btw, I took screenshots of your levels, I think it'll get you more plays.

Oh thank you very much! I try your levels now. About that it is a little simple... Well I actually used logic and specially one-shot-switches very much. I just didn't want it to look too complicated so I tried to hide them into the gameplay. I think I did it too good then. And special thanks for screenshots man!2010-04-29 05:51:00

Hey FreeAim! I'm playing this now. I like the feel of this level. It's quite nice. I like the little details you make.. like the rust on the edges of the wall and the little leaf decorations accompanying the leaf sticker. Is the wall part of the Incredibles DLC? It's quite nice. If it is then I might grab that soon . There are holes in the wall in the underwater part. I don't know if this is intentional because as I've said I don't know if the wall was made by you or from the Incredibles DLC. If it's made by you though, I know bits of the wall can break leaving a hole if not glued. Nice simple gameplay. I like the underwater transitions. I think this is the first community level I've played that has more than 1 x2 player bits. Nice logic behind the grab sponge part (I dunno what to call it.. the one where you drop the red ball into the socket). Problem here though. It's kinda difficult to drop the red ball into the socket.. I shook the platform a bit and the red ball dropped NEXT to the socket into the white gas and the door OPENED. You should make the red magnetic key switch radius smaller by a tiny bit and test it out by dropping more of those balls by the socket. The magnetic key switch is also visible. I don't think it should be visible though, as this puzzle is simple enough without. Just don't remove those red circle (ball) stickers. Ooh, I noticed something else at this part. The camera shifts down for the red ball puzzle and I'm able to see 2 visible magnetic key switches in the bottom left corner. One green and one blue. I have no idea how to get those score bubbles down in the pit but that's okay, I think they're for decoration anyway. Is the thermo maxed out? It felt like the level was a bit short.. but I dunno maybe it's just me wanting more . Great level. I agree your level hasn't had a lot of plays.. neither has my newest ones. I need more fans :'(. Lol, I digress. I give the level a 5 star, fun tag. Keep making more!2010-05-01 06:47:00

I like your style to leave comments! Ty Mr.Tran. Holes in the wall at the underwater part were ment to be there and prize bubbles down in the pit are not ment to be reached. If you somehow get those bubbles you have succesfully broke the whole level! :S Okay I deal with the last puzzles magnetic key switches. Thank you for playing my level. BTW I noticed you playing my level. I tried to play that in online while I saw two players playing online. Might it has been you? Hey and in red ball to socket part you are not supposed to shake platform. Platform is ment to take to the hole in left. Then the ball automaticly falls into socket.

I really liked this level . The puzzles were nice and simple. The use of the Incredibles materials was really good, it suited the theme of the level well. The water puzzles were also very good. I usually don't like the water parts in levels, but yours were very good.

The use of the Chrome and Velvet material didn't seem to fit into the theme though. It looked quite out of place.

I rated five stars

Hey thanks man! So many people usualy use water in their levels so I tried not to make this all around the water theme. Good you like water. Actually I wonder what you mean with water puzzle. There were not any actual puzzles underwater but I made obstacles there. Nice to hear you actually like it. I try your F4F lvl now.

Hey man - not long played this level. I didn'c complete it though, so going back to try again soon. It was that box you told us not to explode but I kinda exploded ... I think it was a blind jump or something, and I pulled the explosive down and it landed right in front of the box and explodded. Maybe put a permanent block there so people can climb up, or use a camera so people don't pull it in front of the sponge on purpose. Or have the block remit somewhere else. Apart from that, awesome level - the materials work really well, and the lighting in the darker parts was pretty awesome. I can ssee you spent a long time on this level, and it was totally worth it.

Writing this as I play:

First off, nice atmosphere. The level itself looks so simple and clean, yet, it simulates the feeling that you are indeed in a cellar.
The switch under water is kinda hard to see. The part after the jet pack where you have to bring down time bombs to destroy a floor with the warning not to blow up the sponges part.

Really like the puzzle where you have to guide the red cylinder to the hole for the switch on the door.

Just finished it. It's really well done. The puzzles are simple but everything is so relaxing. Really nice job on the cellar feel. The underwater segments are all clean and nice lighting on those parts too. But a few decorations underwater would help greatly in making them look even better.

I'm assuming most of the materials that are unfamiliar to me were from Incredibles dlc? You've used them to great effect. Very nice job!

Yea I could not make this level without The Incredibles materials! I tried to little copy better creators in the red cylinder to hole puzzle and instead of making 3-way switch I decided to use logic from logic pack. Ok I update level and put some decorations underwater (this is excatly why I always leave some free space for stuff). I noticed you were writing something but you suddenly stopped. ''...The part after the jet pack where you have to bring down time bombs to destroy a floor with the warning not to blow up the sponges part'' . What about that part?

I was making this level by using materials that were not from Incredibles pack ( I started making this long time ago ) and when DLC came out I noticed that it had better materials for theme so I switched all basic sponges to these blocks and wall from POTC stone to new material and it really fit in.

Hi, I played your level some days ago (I left a comment in the level) but I haven't had time until now to post my comments. I think this level is really nice, much better the Australia, I have to say .

I specially enjoyed the gameplay, with so many puzzles to be solved. I think the level is really funny. The visual was not bad, little bit plain sometimes. The level reminded me "The bunker", in the visual aspect, in the puzzles, in the story,... everything .

Overall I gave it 4 stars, and labeled it funny.

Hi! I have reviewed your level and we have enjoyed, has a very playable and fun, plus moving objects that going to do a task or a goal we were pleased to meet my wife and me, I've seen some comments that have taken weeks in doing this and I congratulate you because that says you do a good job, and are detailed. I have published a photo on your level

The utility that you put the water level seemed correct, the type of traps, coordinated music and the cameras are very well placed, the only thing that would make it longer corrected, I think is a good level that could extend.
I have made :star::star::star::star:, good work!!

Greetings FreeAim;

Overall, I found the level to be straight-forward puzzles and platforming, with a lighthearted and fun atmosphere. I rated it as Very Good with a Fun tag. I did it on my own and in 2 player mode with my son.

General comments:

-- My personal preference is for a level that has some sort of background and storyline to it -- even something very bare-bones and just enough to introduce the level at the beginning and wrap it up at the end. As such, an introductory 'scene' where you are dropped into the cellar by an evil stepparent/boss/older sibling/ill-tempered neighborhood geezer, etc., and have to work your way out in order to escape would have given some 'purpose' to the mission, a 'reason' for working your way through. Likewise, it would have been nice to have you "emerge into daylight" or something at the end --> something to 'reward' your hard work.

-- Along the same lines as above, there wasn't much of a 'climax' to the level, some "final challenge" or "big finish", which is always nice to have (satisfying to the player).

-- Style-wise, I found the level to be an interesting mix of themes which worked well together generally. There were a few disjointed bits, such as black (velvet / satin) cushions mixed in amongst old barrels and such. The sticker and decoration work was a little bit on the "busy" side, but not stifling.

-- Atmosphere-wise, I had a little trouble with green plants and vines in a cellar -- it made the level look more like The Back Alley, and even then, it wasn't "dark" enough in lighting or theme to be a cellar or back alley. Cellars are generally dark, with a need for extra lights, with dust, cobwebs, spiders (and spider-webs) in the corners...that sort of thing. The lighting and plants gave an "out in the street" feel.

-- Musically, the piece selections worked well, although that saxophone part in the Savannah music went on for a bit too long. Between the two, I think "Tea by the Sea" worked better for your entire level, fading in and out different tracks as you went, and would contribute to the fun and lighthearted game-play.

-- I appreciate the attention paid to incorporating 2 player portions to the level. That said, the puzzles there were not very creative and only gained you some more score bubbles. That's fine (Mm generally kept them simple and gave additional items with them), but alternate paths or puzzle areas would also have been fun.

Specific comments:

-- There were a couple of places where the camera wasn't set to Track Player and you had to make a blind jump, such as when going for that switch on the very first problem. You've shown the player the switch via cut-scene (I'd lose the plant decoration on it -- it looks funny and hides the switch somewhat), but the last jump to get to it is done blindly.

-- The magnetic key and switch for the "drop the red cylinder in the slot" puzzle doesn't have to be shown -- I'd make them non-visible. It's pretty obvious what you are try to do.

Overall, this was a fun, straight-forward puzzle-run, and relatively short too. We enjoyed it!

Thank you for very detailed comment! I think I can change camera angles and music and maybe create more ''player satisfying'' end to it... I also made a story, even that it might be little alternative. It's:v''You are trapped in The Cellar. Find your way out!'' Simple and kinda funny in a weird way. Maybe I can make magnetic key switches invicible in that ''red ball to socket'' point. 2 player areas... They weren't very important but I think that they worked very well! ?What kinda prices that were in the level would you want to price bubbles? I gave barrel but I can give something else as well... Hmm... maybe those spiked blocs in underwater part? I didn't want level to be too dark so I decided to make it brighter than I planned. Some people's TVs are dark and can't be changed but maybe I could make it a little darker too. Remember, just a little! Did you think it was too short? I can make it longer if it was.2010-05-10 06:38:00

I think I can change camera angles and music and maybe create more ''player satisfying'' end to it... I also made a story, even that it might be little alternative. It's: ''You are trapped in The Cellar. Find your way out!'' Simple and kinda funny in a weird way.

If you've got the Thermo and physical room for it, why not make an "entrance area" above your current entrance (kitchen, storage pantry, hallway -- typical places that contain the entrance to the cellar). The only way out of this entrance area is down the steps into the cellar....which break on the player's way down. *Now* you're trapped! How do you get out? Puzzles and platforming begin....

Then, at the ending, have the player emerge into daylight outside, perhaps some back-way into the cellar which emerges into the garden near the side of the house, or shed, or something...the scoreboard is in the garden / yard. That sort of thing.

2 player areas... They weren't very important but I think that they worked very well! ?What kinda prices that were in the level would you want to price bubbles? I gave barrel but I can give something else as well... Hmm... maybe those spiked blocs in underwater part?

I don't know that you need to have prize bubbles (like Mm) -- I didn't see anything in the level that was particularly difficult to make or unique, which is what I think community prize bubbles should be for. I think it was just that the 2x player puzzles were very easy and Mm in style -- almost not worth calling in an extra person for. I would say, make the 2x puzzles more challenging and longer, then when they solve *that*, give them a load of score-bubbles. Something to keep in mind for your next creation -- I don't know if it's worth changing here.

I didn't want level to be too dark so I decided to make it brighter than I planned. Some people's TVs are dark and can't be changed but maybe I could make it a little darker too. Remember, just a little!

I understand that. There is, however, a difference between making something *actually* darker, and making it *feel* darker. Darker materials, no green plants, extra light sources mounted on the walls or hanging from the ceiling, candles and lamps on the furniture...those will let you turn down the ambient light and yet keep the areas easy to see. Like I said, this just didn't feel like a cellar -- it felt like a wide back alley between the shops (except for the little den area with the posters on the wall).

Also -- do keep in mind that I am still pretty much a level creation noobie here. As such, take my comments with a carton of Morton salt.

I got room in thermo left... I think just enough for me to create those things. It might take a while but I try to do an entrance too... And of course about lighting. Level is in canyon backround so it's impossible to make gardens themed place The Cellar is in. Well thank you for this!2010-05-10 19:47:00

Just played this.

Really like the barrels in the level. Normally I dont like to see the same object over and over, but the barrels fit the level very well. All the areas had a different way to get past them, so it didn't seem repetitive. The water bit was really cool. Really liked the spinning spikes that I had to avoid.

I gave this level 5 stars. I may play it again with a friend for the 2 player puzzles I noticed.

Please F4F my level if you get the chance.

I played this level and it looked like it was made by Poms except that the level is much easier. The puzzle part where you drop the circular object is great and there's a bunch of platforming goodness. I think the glued sponge object in the time detonator puzzle section could be changed with Material Changer Tool. Overall nice level but not quite as great as "Spice & Co." and "The Bunker" levels but still good level.2010-05-12 19:57:00

Played The Cellar - nice level design - although perhaps a bit redundant after a while. The puzzles were "just right" - not too difficult, and not annoying - and no glitches that I encountered. Nice decorating (rust on the bricks, etc.).

This was a simple, but fun level - but nothing I would tell a friend they "have to play". I think you have a great level here - but could have been a bit more dynamic.

I did not have a buddy to play the 2 player bits with - so I cannot fully grade the level.

Good job overall.

Sorry, FirstAim. I should have done this review about a month ago, but I was building two restaurants at the same time, and I was a little swamped!

Positives:
Your level looks good and is nicely decorated. I love levels with bombs in them by the way!! Overall, I enjoyed playing this level. There were many aspects of the level that felt like the original Mm story levels.

Suggestions:
I was a little disappointed that the level ended so soon. I would have liked a few more puzzles to solve. Also, there were a few areas that I thought some corner editing would have improved the overall look. This was especially true in the "lower" areas and water areas.

Overall, it is a very nice level. I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Hello! BTW it's FreeAim not FirstAim. I'm surprised that someone still comments on my level. I've been keeping pause from LBP for a while but I'm actually very happy someone remembered me! I noticed myself that in jetpack/bomb challenge was little less corner editing than usually. I must had forgot that area completely while creating. I'm also very happy about the first comment of yours in ''Suggestions'' part. That must have ment that you enjoyed my level. BTW I made an update to this level just 20mins ago. My own PC broke up so I wont be very active for a while... Well anyway the updates I made are mainly here: Bug(s) fixed, the second 2 player challenge made easier to reach and few boring looking places decorated. Please try and tell if any new bugs have appeared!

Thanks for commenting on my level!
This was a brilliant puzzler! The barrels looked good with the rust. In fact the detail on everything fitted in very well.
Instructions were obvious due to some good stickering.
One thing, just before one of the scuba gears (first iirc) the camera angle shows the edge of the room, ruining the illusion of being in an underground cellar as the background is visible.
5:star:, <3 & tagged brilliant.
I would have given 4 but I'm sure you'll sort out the camera

Hey very fun cellar. Visuals looked good, felt underground. Puzzles were simple, so = fun, not frustrating. My only suggestion would to be make your bomb areas work so that one bomb would do the job everytime, running back to get a total of three on one, two the other time slowed the flow of gameplay a bit. Overall, fun, polished, 5/5!2010-07-31 15:18:00

Hi there, I'm returning some feedback here

So, I liked this level, it was well made and had great visuals, you made good use of some of the DLC pack stickers and decorations.
The puzzles were kinda easy for me, and some of them just press this to open that, but they weren't bad in any way, maybe just a little too simple for me.
Nice use of water, it's not overused in any way and it adds a little variety to the gameplay.
The level was a little short though, I'm not sure if it was filled with the thermometer but I'm pretty sure there could have been a little bit more stuff in there.

I gave it :star::star::star::star::star:

Played it this morning and it was quite good.
The platforming was okay, the visuals, too.
I don't have much to say...its good!
What I would change are the speechbubbles. I would write them in direct speech. So your sackboy is speaking..:
"I should activate this switch up there.."
Or where you had to find the switch "There must be a switch to get this sponge down"
That would be better in my opinion! (:

Overall good gameplay, good visuals, but nothing mindblowing.
I gave it :star::star::star::star:

i loved the visuals, great use of stickers and decorations. I agree with Redshadow, I really find it uninteresting and not very good when people aren't direct with their speech bubbles. The puzzles were simple which is exactly what I like to see in a level. The level was a perfect length. But anyways overall i enjoyed it 5 stars2010-08-12 17:51:00

I really dug this level! Fun gameplay and design made it a joy from beginning to end, even if I did swear a bit during the water parts.
Loved the bomb sections!

If you're still doing F4F, I'd love it if you'd check out my level: Invasion of the Sack Men From Space!
