Thought I'd just talk about different genres I and people listen too Since all of my friends are emo-scene-metal head people that don't give a **** about techno.. WHAT I began music liking punk/alternative rock, which is stuff like Green Day, Ramones, Linkin Park, Flogging Molly and others. I've grown to some of these bands as overrated, but I still like to listen to Old Green day, LP, nd Flogging Molly. I got into the TERRIBLE PARTS of techno afterwards. God, I shiver at how I eeeeeeeeever liked Caramelldansen remixes, and listened to them 24/7... It kind of went from band to band after that. First it was back to Green Day, then Linkin Park, then it was Kerli and Megan McCauley, Incubus, Les Savy Fav <3, teenagersintokyo, Mercy arms and **** Arms, blink-182, Angelspit, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Placebo, Red Riders and yadadada... Only awhile ago have I been REALLY into like, trip-rock and alternative techno...? Don't know the exact genres, just that they have synths and electronic effects. I'm really into gorillaz, The Valentinos, Midnight Juggernauts + their remixes, Mercy Arms, Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Theives Like us, and Punks Jump up. I know some of those bands aren't technoy, so I guess I can include Alt-Rock into that. So, what genres do you like? Do you like any specific bands? Do you hate my music and want to insult my face about it on this thread? D< BRING IT ON | 2010-04-25 00:08:00 Author: DulledDoll Posts: 36 |
I like hip hop, pop, classic rock, some electronic stuff (mostly not 'techno', but I loooooooooooooooove Justice) I would say pretty much everything that's not metal or hard techno. That's not to say I like all music. | 2010-04-25 04:46:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |
You can' really bind anything to a specific genre, they spread over several. My favorite bands have got to be iForward Russia! (a bunch of british guys screaming nonsensical poetry), You Say Party! We Say Die (canadian biker gang), and Minus the Bear. (think Foals) | 2010-04-25 04:58:00 Author: Arkei Posts: 1432 |

Drum and Bass is the only genre that matters. It's the best genre of music in the history of the world. Oh, other than that, I listen to a lot of music. I used to be into mostly metal, though I wouldn't even call the majority of music I listen to now metal. Are Coheed and Cambria, Tool, or AES really metal? Now looking back at it, I think a lot of metal is really corny. Recently, I've really gotten into electronica. So far my favorite stuff is DnB and ambient, though I haven't listened to Dubstep yet. I'm not a big techno fan, I can listen to Trance occasionally, though. | 2010-05-07 02:20:00 Author: qrtda235566 Posts: 3664 |
If you like Electronica, you should check out 'We Are Terrorists'. French electro-trash awesomeness. And Justice. More french electric whatever. Amazing. Both do ridiculous remixes too. i.e. the Terrorist remix of Revolte's "Ironical Sexism", and the Justice remix of MGMT's "Electric Feel". It's not like ambient and stuff, I can't really get into that. But it's soooo awesome. And electronicicica the terrorists have an EP floating around on a blog somewhere, i think. and Justice has 1 album I believe, Cross, which is IMO a must-have. | 2010-05-07 03:50:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |
Techno is ****. Warp Material/Ninja Tune/Trip Hop/Planet Mu/Braindance... edm. That's where ****'s at 'yo. DISCLAIMER: Techno gives all music involving machinery and technology a bad name. Kind of like the self righteous atheist gives the rest of them a bad name, or soulja boy giving rap a bad name. | 2010-05-14 23:16:00 Author: Voodeedoo Posts: 724 |

I find it very hard to place a lot of my favourite bands in different genres. It differs from song to song, and there's often a very thin line between this genre and that genre you know. But I'll try to give you some of the genres! Post Hardcore/Hardcore, like At the Drive-In, The Receiving End of Sirens, Circa Survive, Refused. Every corner of the Metal genre (except maybe the really really brutal and noisy stuff), like Devin Townsend, The Faceless, Arch Enemy, Fear Factory, Cynic, Opeth, Kamelot, Meshuggah, Stam1na, and so on. A lot of pop, rock and electronica of different kinds (basically everything that I'm unsure of what genre it belongs to, like Florence + the Machine, Emanuel and the Fear, Imogen Heap, Coheed & Cambria, Paramore, Daft Punk, The Prodigy, Exit Ten, Jean Michel Jarre, Kate Bush, The Knife, Moby, t.A.T.u., Porcupine Tree. There isn't any particular genre I'm not a fan of (except, as I wrote above, the really noisy stuff.). I usually find something to like in every genre I come across. | 2010-05-26 18:26:00 Author: Unknown User |
