I don't know much about it, but I think it comes down to the equipment you use. Pointing a camera at a tv will never result in an awesome quality, though a better camera ought to give better results. The sure-fire way is with a capture card that records the video output of the ps3 before it goes to the tv. Of course, both of those options mean buying new equipment which may not be an option.

Other than that, you can try experimenting with the tv's brightness and contrast settings or there may be settings on the camera or recording software that can help. You may also get different results by pointing the camera toward the tv at a slight angle or straight at it. I've only filmed one video with a pretty cheap webcam. You could see what was going on, but the quality wasn't especially good.

In this post I refer to prices using Canadian Dollars.

I use a $70-100 DVD Recorder. (I'm not sure about the price nowadays...)

It records in perfect standard detail. With that, you can rip the DVD to an MP4 or some other kind of format, and edit it or put it on YouTube.

Or you can use a capture card-thingie... I dunno much about 'em.

Also, you could get an HD PVR. It records HD videos and you can put them on your computer and stuff... They're the real expensive ones... A few hundred dollars I believe.

I'm pretty sure all, (If not, at least the DVD Recorder and the HD PVR) can also record TV shows, so it's all the more worthwhile.
