Secrets of the SkyAwesomemans
A straight-forward level inspired by levels like Zephyr Valley. Everything's floating! It's pretty short, though I think it's my best level yet. I seriously recommend you play it as a one player experience, more players could cause some problems, though I don't think anything that would break the level.
Yes, this is inspired by Zephyr Valley and other sky-themed levels, but I am in no way comparing this level to Zephyr Valley. I'm nowhere near as good as Mrsupercomputer

Thanks to POD-Crew (Xrooven) for Lazor!

This is definitely the quickest I've come out with a level, too. This is an entry in Woflgod's Floating Contest.

Yes, it should be. It has plays, so I'd assume it's unlocked. I did publish it before, and it was locked then, it should be unlocked right now, though.

Ok I probably looked for it earlier when it was Locked, because It just said at the top that you published it....

I'll play this a little later.... hopefully tonight maybe tomorrow...

Was a really good level, don't mind the rating, these are just ranting kids...
I do think it was your best level so far
Pros:
-You pushed your visuals a bit higher
-simple but fun gameplay
-nice lightning

Cons:
-maybe looking a bit too plain(White and Brown)
-I think I broke it like 5 times :S

:star::star::star::star: an awesome level by the Awesomemans!

Darn it, Awesomemans;

Every time I read your level's name, I get Norman Greenbaum's 1969 Spirit in the Sky stuck in my head.

Awesome level .
Loved the last section, Shoop Da Woop FTW!
Great visuals, great gameplay and great general vibe.
Loved the way the music progressively got more and more instruments building throughout the level, and the cutesy cloud styles were well done. I think my only real criticism is at the very start, on the first jump, after the intro text, it's kind of hard to notice that there's a platform you're supposed to jump to.

5*s and a heart from me, because it definately doesn't deserve the 3*s it has :U

Thanks for the feedback. I'll have to put a camera at that ledge.

About those 3 stars, I think it's because the level was broken for its first few plays. The scoreboard would sometimes disappear or break. I fixed it, though.

I just tried out your level, because I love sky levels too Really good! It was a very fun level, and I really liked all the custom clouds you bade in the background. they looked awesome! I noticed that there were a few pistons that were visible, and some rods that were also visible that were holding up some of the score bubbles. If I were you I'd make them invisible, so that it makes everything look like it's floating. Anyhow, great level!2010-04-28 05:00:00

I played this a couple of days ago, it was really cool. I'm a fan of floating islands. The gameplay was a lot of fun, the islands that would light up and move were cool, and I love the glass sliding platforms. The boss at the end was funny. The visuals were good too, such as the secrets of the sky logo you used, I like the font. Overall, this was a fun, interesting level. Keep up the great work.

I rated it :star::star::star::star::star:. :arg:

Thanks for playing my level, heres my feedback in return whilst I play

+ Loved the title sequence, and the lighting
+ Good choice of music
+ Loved the slightly crooked wood, gives the level loads of character
+ I loved the little details like the ladder hanging, and the supports on everything.
+ Explosions
+ Lol at the lazor teeth
+ The crystal decorations in the cave look excellent

- Its possible to get under the platforming after the first lift, and also get into the swirls in the clouds and squish yourself. I was in there looking for hidden point bubbles Its not a major issue though
- There should be hidden point bubbles in places, I didnt feel there was any reward for exploring, although you seem to add some in later in the level
- Bit of a bad camera angle after the teeth, you don't die or anything, but I was a little wary of what to do because the way isnt visible.

Excellent level, I really enjoyed it, some nice platforming and visuals you got there.

5* and hearted

Playing this as I type.

REALLY nice intro. The music fits this level very well. A smile went across my face when I saw the title.
Really like how this is a floating level. The moving cloud platforms are nice.
I like the concept of how there are things hidden in the sky. The lighting is very nice.
Loved the sliding bit. Made me feel like I was gliding in the clouds.
The music keeps changing at really fitting parts. I love it.
The teeth in the clouds was a bit random, but it gave me a laugh.

5 stars and a heart. Loved the level.

Would you mind giving feedback on my level?

Could you elaborate a little bit? It's hard to fix something that's broken when I don't know how it broke.

Hah, I love sky themed levels, which is why i'm in love with all of jump_buttons levels, but I digress, this is a thread about YOUR sky level, so lets get to it then.

I really liked the use of music in that you were using the wilderness interactive music but then only using the harpsichord or whatever it was for the begining, gave the level a surreal feel, which I suppose is apt considering your running and jumping on clouds.

The platforming is pretty solid all round but I would suggest a few aesthetic changes;

-Change the basic rock material into something else. I can't stand it, for me, it's too associated with rubbishy no effort levels that get spammed so very much. Obviously your level doesn't fit into that description even a little bit but I really dislike that basic rock material. It didn't affect the star rating I gave you, because its still a quality level.

When you come out on top of the basic rock section and there are some points on the cliff edge on the left, the camera lets you see some dark matter.

The little lazor guy made me chuckle quite a lot, so keep him definatly lol, but I would suggest sorting out those LBPC stickers at the end, you only need the one on that pointy block, get rid of the rest of them from the clouds, it looks a bit sloppy

As a judge for the Floating Castle, Village, Farm etc Contest, I honestly, is an awesome level

Now for the pros. The level is very creative(of course )and when it comes to being challenging, it does show some promise! And the design of the level is just awesome.Very cool that you added some, I would say "unique" challenges. As for example, the balloon platforms of which you have to jump to the other side. Brilliant. But now for the cons. I did indeed spot some bugs that I may to explain of what's going on with it. Like, when you are on that balloon floating craft, sometimes I jump below the platform, and I found like a "passageway" on the clouds below the platform. Also another bug I spotted was that when near the end, I walked to the platform where the goal point is, until I slipped between the edge of the goal point and the other platform. But that was my mistake. So anyway, I wasn't trying to be mean or of that such, but I needed to state the bugs inside and out.Overall, it was a very cool level.Good job! I hope you win!

I gave it :star::star::star::star:

Okay, I've made some big updates in the form of secrets. There are now 6 secret flower-prize bubbles scattered through-out the level, some are obvious and some I think are pretty deviously hidden. I also changed the material at that last temple-type part.2010-05-11 00:44:00

Thanks for the feedback on my level!

I liked your level a lot! It was fun with quick gameplay and pretty visuals. Definitely a happy-go-lucky level. For some reason the part with Lazor was really funny, probably due to the fact there was nothing along the lines of story, then you meet and defeat Lazor, and all these things happen out of nowhere

Somethings you may want to change;

-The elevators were a bit annoying, as if you didn't jump quick enough it would move back to it's original spot, which made it hard to do some jumps.
- There were visible key switches on some of the secret flowers.
- At one point I fell down from a spot, back down to an earlier part of the level. Maybe add some gas so we don't.

Overall, a great, fun, level I gave it 5 :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3

I replayed your level after you added the secrets and I think they add a great extra dimension to the gameplay. I've always really enjoyed the visuals - wonderful curly clouds - and the jumping and sliding was fun but the new secrets definitely give the gameplay a bit more interest and variety.

Great level - pretty to look at, fun to play and with a nice flow to it.

Pretty nice level. I liked the cleanness to it. Sometimes it was a bit too clean though, lack of detail in some areas. The boss, if you could even call it a boss was very... lazy. But I assume your goal was to have a super easy-wimpy boss. There wasn't too much behind the story, so at the end when the wall was talking to me it was unimportant. xD
Nice, fresh gameplay, I noticed some visible stuff like lights and switches while I was playing.

I gave it :star::star::star::star:

The level could use more sky scenery but it's a fun level and floating islands are cool. The search for the secret flowers is good and the platforming worked out nicely done. Also enjoyed a really short boss battle, don't know why though. Keep it up Awesomemans.

I have reviewed your level and I felt very good, I liked the story development and to be finding every secret, I find it interesting that you've raised that way, is perfectly recreated an environment that is relaxing and pleasant at a level I felt a little short but I understand that a lot has to do the thermometer in it. The only point which I think is worth it to have made Napoleon at the end of the game, that's something I do not like but all I've given level :star::star::star::star:

Great level! Really liked the design of your clouds
The platforming is pretty basic, but presented in a good way here.
The secrets are well hidden around the level, with the exeption of one that is a bit too obvious.
And yet they're not that hard to find if the player puts a little effort in it. I always like to hunt secrets in levels.
Loved the little Lazor guy, funny litte bugger
Only criticism I can give is that at a few points the background looks a bit empty to me. Especially on the 3rd (I think?) elevator. Just a few clouds in the background on this part wouldn't be a bad idea I think.
Oh, and on the 5th or 6th secret (I forgot which one) you still got a magnetic key showing, just to let you know.

If you got time could you leave feedback on my F4F level in my sig? Thanks (no rush )

Hey, great level i thought the gameplay was very cool and it was pretty good designed too. The length is good too.
But i think there should be more camera angles so you can feel more that you are really on the sky, and it would help to know where to go sometimes. Most of the time the camera is just straight and it doesn't allow you to see the entire obstacles/areas around you that are involved in the gameplay.
Also the fact that you can find secrets is a nice add and it gives a great replay value. The enemy at the end was extremely easy so i was a bit surprised when the guy said that was actually a boss lol

Anyways its a great level i gave it :star::star::star::star: stars, if you have time it would be cool if you would leave feedback in my LBF level (preferably chapter 2)

Hey man I finally played it again and I really enjoyed the addition of the white flowers, I failed to find them all so I may yet return to do so. The only thing that jumped at me was the visuals, at times they seemed a little bland. I think it was the clouds, the shapes are nice but the colouring was just block white. Adding a little shade to their undersides would help I think, try blue or black gradient to give a little more depth and variation to them. You've got some MM clouds in there too which I think look too different, regular clouds are sharp edged but the MM ones are sponge so rounded. How about something grabby but sharp edged? There was a lot of white and brown in there colour wise, maybe try mixing it up some more to make it slightly more colorful. Or maybe a bit more different shades of those colours. It was a fun level though, one I didn't mind trying a few times to look for stuff. A little more colour and maybe animation and I think it would be a really very nice level. Not sure what thermo is like but it was very static at times, maybe stick some clouds on pistons to make them bob up and down giving a bit more life to it. I gave it :star::star::star::star: with some tweaks I'd definitely give it an additional star. 2010-05-23 21:16:00

This was a pretty enjoyable level. I overall had fun in it and specially enjoyed some of the bubble combos. In fact, I got the 6th place at the scoreboard!
However, I couldnt fully like the visuals (not that they were bad, its just that they didnt specially impress me), and it didnt help the fact that you used quite an unfitting -imo- baddie and that at the end you simply did a Napoleon cut out. But still, the visuals were good and it felt like if you really were in the sky, so dont mind me!

I gave it 5 stars in game -I like to bump proper/actual levels whenever I can- but I would have given it 4, in fact. But hey! I'd gave it 4 for basically it has potential, it can be improved and becuase I believe that chances are I'll rate 5 your next one, if you improve a bit!

About the F4F, i'd simply be grateful if you check out the project in my sig

Notes on Secrets of the sky

I had a good time playing this, and nothing wrong really jumped out at me the first time through, so I had to go back for little nit-picky crap:

http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt210/swanbrown/utility/swanbullets.jpg After explosive wall, there's a couple of balloon platforms. To the left of them is a cloud that looks like it is begging to be jumped on. From there, the player can jump on top of the balloons and get a glimpse of exposed dark matter. Maybe you could stick a thin layer cloud on it. Also, it might be fun to put a little something that can only be gotten from the tops of the balloons.

http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt210/swanbrown/utility/swanbullets.jpg At the point where the player is on a cloud lift, and the sky darkens, I think it would be nice if there were something on the back-layer to enforce the feeling of motion. Also maybe angle the camera so the next ledge is better visible.

http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt210/swanbrown/utility/swanbullets.jpg I kind of went "what?" when I came across the "guru" at the end...and yet, for some reason the Laser teeth didn't strike me as strange at all. lol.

http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt210/swanbrown/utility/swanbullets.jpg The end of the level was well decorated with stickers and such. It threw the rest of the level into contrast.

http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/tt210/swanbrown/utility/swanbullets.jpg There are a lot of little accessible spots left where you could hide more score bubbles and such.

Very enjoyable. I had a good time finding all the special prizes. I especially had fun playing around on the spinning wheels with the sponge grab things on the spokes.
