The Sky Islands of Oneiros Ch. 2SeekingTruth86
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v326/SeekingTruth86/LBP%20PSP/224823.jpgJoin Sackboy and Grandpa Sack as they explore the mysterious islands in the sky! What strange wonders await the on the surface of Oneiros? Part 2 in the Oneiros trilogy.
This picks up RIGHT where Chapter 1 ends, so I recommend giving The Sky Islands of Oneiros Ch. 1 (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=24957-The-Sky-Islands-of-Oneiros-Ch-1) a play before you hop into this one! By the end I want the player to be able to play each level one after the other to create one giant mega level of sorts ^_^

A couple screenshots, provided by the generous and kind Domik12!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v326/SeekingTruth86/9.jpg

And you'll have to play to see the rest!

Any comments or feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for playing

EDIT: And don't forget to stay tuned for Chapter 3! Construction will begin after a brief break

Hi again, SeekingTruth86!

I played you level and must say, that you created great new part of very interesting adventure! It has good story and outstanding environments! You did fantastic job with corner tool, materials and stickers! Everything looks perfect and very beautiful! I have a lot fun not only with gameplay but also with visual part. Also I loved how you used sound for different environment objects. It is very cool idea! And big Boss was wonderful! When I saw it first time I just open mouth and stood sometime to watch it carefully. Battle with it was interesting and not very difficult - you made all thing very smart! I liked this part very much! My only comment for this level is that it is a little bit short, but I know how fast many details and complicated objects eat termo. So it not really comment, I just wish that such interesting adventure continues more and more. So I will look for next level with big impatience!

And thank you for feedback to both my Treasure Hunter levels!

Thanks ali and memorex! There's a lot of score-bubbly secrets, and good luck finding the most efficient bubble-chains! Can't wait to hear what you think!

Sharing is always the most exciting part of making a level ^_^

Edit: Whoa, just saw your post Domik! Those screenshots are GREAT, thanks a lot! I'll update my promotional posts with those tomorrow, after sleep XD

And thanks so much for playing and for the feedback! I'm really glad you liked it! I've always thought musical plants would be cool And with LBP, they can exist! Yay!

Yeah several parts were originally going to be much longer (the boss too), but once I reached 3/4 on the thermo I had to cut it down a bit to be sure I could fit all the pieces and tech for the boss. The truth is, when I first envisioned Oneiros it was going to be one level, but I realized early on there was no way I could fit it all, so I split it into three. I'm hoping that the shorter length on this one will be forgiven and the level be seen as the middle chapter of one big level.

Thank you again for your feedback and support Domik, you're great

Edit: BTW Domik I sent you a PM

Wow, I almost completely missed that you published a sequel! I'm sure that you are aware that I love your levels, so I was super excited to give the a play the second that I realized that it was part 2!

So, being as this is the sequel to one of the best looking levels on LBP PSP, I had my expectations pretty darn high for it visually, and you blew those expectations away. There were parts of this level that looked so good that it made the first one look bad, and the first one looked AMAZING :-D Even if the gameplay had been terrible, I would have still enjoyed this level immensely due to the absolutely astounding visuals.

But not to fear, the gameplay is great as well. The level has excellent platforming that I think that every single LBPer should be extremely happy with. All of the platforming goes so well with the visuals that it forms a perfect blend that just had me smiling the whole time.

I really enjoyed the boss, and it was a unique idea which is always a plus. On top of that, it looked outstanding and had a bit of humor to go with it. And who doesn't love a boss that cried when you beat it

This is another excellent level, SeekingTruth, and I am already looking forward to part 3!

Great work

Hey seekingtruth!!
Wow!! impressive visuals!! It was entertaining just stay quiet and look at your impressive work, the details on all sides are spectacular!, I had much fun trying to find the hidden bubbles and trying to make the chains but some are very difficult to achieve, but okay gives replayability to the level, the boss was very ingenious I really enjoyed defeating him, impressive trilogy! I can't wait for the third part! Easily I gave you 5 stars a heart and a heart as creator, keep up with the great work!!

@himoks: Awesome, always good to hear from you himoks! Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for taking the time to play and comment!

@amazingflyingpoo: I'm glad you enjoyed the gameplay as well as the visuals, AFP! I was concerned that maybe there wasn't enough to do, but hoped that the boss would add a decent chunk of gametime and something a little unique to the level to make up for it. This is the first level I had to trim some of my ideas down for due to the thermo, but I learned more about optimization in the process and the wacky behavior of the thermo, so part 3 should be quite a bit longer.

I'm super glad you enjoyed the boss! Through a combination of my mistakes and create bugs I had to rebuild him a couple times, which almost got frustrating, but each time he worked a little bit better. And moving checkpoints once you do something else was something I'd never done before, and I can't tell you how relieved I was when I finally got it all working! The boss may look relatively simple but there's a helluva lotta wires going to the encounter brain offscreen ^_^ The tears were a last minute addition, but I think it added a necessary bit of visible pain to the defeated guardian! Anyways, thank you so much for playing and commenting AFP, it's always great to hear from you!

@memorex: Hey, thanks for playing memorex! I'm super glad you enjoyed it, I wanted bubble-hunters to have a bit more to do in this one, and it sounds like it worked! I'm glad the visuals were satisfying too! And to hear that people like the boss is simply wonderful, probably about half the time I spent on this level was spent putting him together and tweaking him ^_^ Thank you so much for taking the time to play and comment, and for the nice rating as well! I have some big plans for part 3

Hello Truth,

I have to tell you this level was well created. The visuals were very outstanding. The way you corner edit was phenomenal. Your use of stickers is very artistic. The way you use every layer was nice. Your boss battle was equally fun and challenging. The story seems to go along quite smoothly. No problems what so ever.

5 stars and a heart.
A heart for you as a creator as well.

@X_FROGBOY-X: Yeah, I was expecting it to take me a little bit longer, but the boss was quicker to put together than I was expecting. I'd love to hear what you think of Chapter 2 if you get the chance!

@TheNerd: Thank you for the kind words! I really think there's unlimited artistic potential in this game, I'm very glad you like what I've done with it

Hey SeekingTruth,

Another excellent level, this is shaping up to be one hell of a series. As before your visuals are stunning, possibly more so here. Everything looks so fresh and bright and natural. I like the musical plants and mushrooms, and the ralatively straightforward but very effective platforming in these early areas.

The fish were an amazing idea and really well executed. Not just because the provided an interesting gameplay challenge, but also because you incorporated them so nicely into the mythos of your world.

The zip-line is cool, but it did break on my first attempt and dumped me into the poison gas cloud.

The boss is beautiful and very well designed, like everything else, to incorporate visual impact and gameplay. I almost shed a tear myself when I defeated him.

Generally then, I really can't say enough how impressed I am with your detailed and immersive world of Oneiros. The dialogue, design, and everything else come together so nicely. I am really looking forward to the next installment.

@salieri: Oooh, paragraphs! I respond in kind!

I like the musical plants and mushrooms, and the ralatively straightforward but very effective platforming in these early areas.

If you play with the timing of your grabs and go back and forth on the hanging leaves, you can make spiffy little tunes I was worried that I had perhaps spent too much thermo on an area that could, if you don't care about bubbles, take less than 10-15 seconds to pass through with simple hopping and swinging. But I hoped that the player might play around with the musical plants for a bit and explore to take in the scenery to make the level last a bit longer. So, I'm glad you liked the early area!

The fish were an amazing idea and really well executed. Not just because the provided an interesting gameplay challenge, but also because you incorporated them so nicely into the mythos of your world.

The fish are actually a descendant of some fishies I made back when I was learning create mode. I really liked them, so I threw some wings on 'em and bam! They even have a good excuse for being electric

The zip-line is cool, but it did break on my first attempt and dumped me into the poison gas cloud.

Ah, THAT'S what I forgot! Ehe ^_^;; If you don't grab onto it within a certain time of hitting the checkpoint it can disappear prematurely XD I actually noticed this when a friend was testing the level, but forgot to fix it in the slew of other things T_T Sorry about that!

Thanks for the kind words on the boss, I'm really glad he came together and worked like I envisioned!

I look forward to exploring more of Oneiros with you!

Played it just now, here's a review.

GAMEPLAY

The gameplay was very cool in this level. My favorite part would have to be the boss at the end of the level, it was cool to actually climb onto the boss and defeat it. The getting around the level was good too, it wasn't just walking to the right throughought the entire level. The leaves and the tree branches at the beginning was cool too.

VISUALS

Ahhh, the visuals in the level. They were the best I've seen on LBP PSP yet, and that's saying something. You had visuals on top of your visuals. The boss looked really awesome too. I also liked the butterflies, and how you used the glass material so you couldn't tell it was a cutout. The last thing that I'd like to add is the material choice, you picke very well.

STORY

The story was also cool, it kept me interested at all times, I also liked how you started this level right were you left off on the first part.

Overall, I'd say that this is the best level visually on all of LBP PSP. Keep up the amazing work, and I look forward to the third part.

:star::star::star::star::star: and a big red heart.

@Frogboy: Wow! Thank you so much for the detailed review!

I'm really glad you enjoyed the gameplay, I know there's not as much "level" in part 2 before you reach the boss as there was in part 1, so I'm relieved that you still found it enjoyable! And I'm happy you liked climbing around on the boss- let's just say Shadow of the Colossus is easily one of my favorite games ever

The glass trick I saw in another level so I can't claim credit for that! But thanks for the comments on the visuals, I put a lot of work into them so I'm glad they're being noticed! I love how more and more materials and stickers keep getting released, the stone in this level was a nice textured concrete material from the metropolis pack

Yay! You like the story too! To be honest I think three chapters might not be quite enough to satisfy my own desire to explore Oneiros (and beyond!) more... but alas! I won't get too far ahead of myself just yet

Thank you SO MUCH for the in-depth feedback, Frogboy! If you ever make a level on PSP I'll be all over it

@spark151: While I've never played any Monster Hunter games, I hear they're actually quite addicting! Hope you're having fun with it, and I look forward to hearing what you think of Oneiros Chapter 2! Thanks for dropping by, spark!

So i played the level and found it just as fantastic as the first one except for one big issue. Now everything I liked in your previous level is just as good in this one so I will spare you the details. The one thing that I found wrong was that the final end boos bird broke on me. It actually flipped out of control and I had to restart the level. This seems to happen if you take more than 5 minutes on that part. I gave it 4 stars and will give it a heart once this issue is fixed.2010-04-28 02:01:00

Okay, I just gave this level a go, and WOW!!!! I'm impressed.
I enjoyed your work into the 1st chapter, and I wasn't really into the whole sky theme type.
Although, you changed this whole matter into a different situation. You made the first chapter amusing.
Now I thought it would be the same thing again, but different terrain and stuff, but you made a whole new world in the sky.
Such as the music leaves and mushrooms. Who would have thought of that at all? Besides you.

Anyways, I love your corner editing so much and your mechanics too.
I loved how you made the gameplay feel like. It really seems so much like a sky city with the sound effects and the terrain.
You made this so..... so..... SPECTACULAR! Nice work and it makes me jealous.
If I made something look like that, then I would have ran out of thermometer, but you seemed to fit it all in there.
This level was not as long as I expected, but still good enough length for the level.

The storyline is humorous and straight-forward. I enjoyed your boss so much!
Not really much of mechanics into it, but it was very amusing to fight.
Your creations are tight! You make the little things important, which pleases the mind.
I even enjoyed the ending of the level where the gate opens to show the scoreboard.
Very original.

Anyways, I have nothing else to say but you received 5 stars :star::star::star::star::star: and a heart.

Until we meet again,
-Spark

You're quickly progressing as one of the best LBP PSP creators! Your first level was amazing, so the expectations were really high, but to my surprise this new level is even better.

I specially loved how the level starts right at the point where the other one ended, creating the illusion of seamless gameplay. Nice detail. The forest is beautiful and helps the level to have its own personality, despite being a sequel. But the real gem of this Chapter 2 is the boss battle. It's funny, because I thought that the boss of Chapter 1 was the worst part, and this time you worked hard on it and it shows: excellent both on the mechanic and visual side. Challenging but intuitive and never frustrating. Well done!

As negative point, I think some parts of the level needed better camera angles (the beginning and the boss battle), but these are minor flaws.

Congratulations once again! Looking forward to Chapter 3.

Phew! Alright, lots to reply to!

@tominator: I'm sorry the boss broke on you! You're not the first person that has happened to, either, unfortunately. At the moment the best solution is to go fast I thought I had fixed that issue, as it happened while I was making it, but it seems I miscalculated the cause XD Thanks for pointing it out, I'll be sure to test Part 3 very extensively.

@spark151: Wow, thanks for the in depth feedback spark!

It really means a lot to me that you like it, I'm a big fan of your levels! When I first played your metroid levels long ago, I was in awe- your work has really shown me what is possible with the corner editor!

The thermometer definitely became a concern and I had to shorten some parts from what I had planned to make sure I'd be able to fit the boss in the last few therm bubs. It's really a huge encouragement that such a talented level-maker is enjoying mine!

Thank you again for all the amazing comments Spark!

@Lleonard: Thanks Lleonard! When I first imagined all this it was going to be one level, but while making it I quickly realizied I would have to split it up, so I'm trying to create the illusion of one big level overall when it's done I'm really glad you commented on that!

I remember when you mentioned the boss of the first level (which I will quickly admit is not my favorite part ;p), and I really took it to heart I'm glad you liked my second attempt at a boss!

The camera angles in the beginning did have some pretty rough transitions, and I definitely didn't play with the boss camera as much as I could have... to be honest I was planning on tweaking the angles more before publishing, but I forgot to fix in my "I'm done!" excitement (along with a few other little changes... d'oh!) Thanks for the feedback on the angles, it will help me to remember next time!

Always a pleasure and an honor, Lleonard!

@Ali: Hahaha, oh no, you found the leg! The answer would be yes, I have, but shhhh... do not speak of it... I wouldn't want to spoil anything!

Another fantastic level ST.

Part one was one of the best looking levels ever and I think you topped it this time around. I love your environments. They are so detailed and intricate. I could just get lost in your visuals. Just amazing stuff, really.

The gameplay is just as fresh, your platforming is awesome, and your camera work is magnificent. I loved how you didn't miss a beat in the story, it starts right after chapter one.

An all around total package of a level.

Great work my friend.

Five stars and a heart of course, I hearted you as creator the last level.

Hey there. I just tried your level. It was splendid. Everything looked good, and the platforming was nice too. I had problems with the giant bird boss in the end. I kind of broke, and it acted stupid, with wobble bolts breaking. But it wasn't a big issue, because it just made the level more challenging and fun. 5 stars.2010-04-30 20:07:00

Hey SeekingTruth,

This level was a sublime experience of transcendentalism--I was totally absorbed in the world you created. I loved the attention you gave to the environment, planting endemic foliage and animals to give authenticity. I particularly liked the subtle descriptions like how the skyfishes absorbed the electric energy to shield Oneiros from hostile weathers. Little descriptions like those not only make the world feel holistic, but also immerses the player in the reality of your level. Thank you for sharing this mesmerizing world of yours with us, and congratulations on another Spotlight. I already bought my ticket to return to Oneiros, so you better make the next level soon!

Finally I have a few minutes to do some replies!

@VelcroJonze:
Thanks so much for playing Jonze, I'm really glad you liked it! You make some great platformers so it's an honor that you enjoyed the gameplay in my little ol' level It's also good to hear that I seem to have been a little successful in having one level go right to the next smoothly!

Always good to hear from you!

@ghik16:
Thanks for playing and stopping by ghik16! I'm glad you enjoyed it but bummed about the boss- I'm impressed you managed to beat it! Unfortunately if you take too long to kill the boss the wobble bolts muss up, upset the balance, and make it almost impossible to beat XD I can't wait for LBP PSP to be bug-free! Oh the possibilities...

Anyways, thanks again for the feedback! I've been meaning to check out your levels, but life has been allowing me no time for LBP this past week. I'll be sure to comment on them when I can!

@rOckalOvEer x73:
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! It's stuff like this that helps me break through creator's block- the idea that I can make something that other people can enjoy... it's quite a feeling! So thank you again!

@jeffcu28:
First off, I really appreciate your vocabulary Jeff Language is awesome, and by correlation linguaphiles are too

I'm really thrilled you're enjoying the series, and I thank you (and Taffey! and everyone else XD) for your (and their) part in putting together the Spotlight! It's so amazing to finally be able to put my imagination into something other people can enjoy, and I am forever indebted to you and the rest of LBPC for confirming that buying a second PSP just for this game was so totally worth it!

As for part 3, LIFE (dun dun DUUUUUN) has gotten really busy lately, so it may be a while, but when the time is right it will happen

@Taffey: Thanks Taffey! It's an honor and a pleasure to hear that you're enjoying my work so far! Also, see additional thanks above

And now, SLEEP.

Hi SeekingTruth86,
Your levels are so detailed and intricate they remind me of those ships in a bottle. Im amazed at all you squeeze in there. This level is beautiful with all the platform elements hidden seamlessly into the background. The opening area with the tree is combo heaven. I loved trying different ways to try to max the multiplier. The story was well written and kept me interested throughout. The boss was excellent, both in play and design.

Thanks for a great series. Congrats on the spotlights. Five stars and two hearts.

I don't mean to selfishly bring this thread up after so long, but I really wanted to reply to Xenon and have been away from the boards for almost a month XD Hopefully I can get some more feedback out there and be forgiven

@Xenon: Yay! I was very excited to see your name on the scoreboard for this level I was hoping you would appreciate the effort I put into setting up interesting bubble chains! Sadly some random sackperson has recently usurped your #2 spot :x He probably just got lucky

Anyways, thank you for the kind feedback! I'm really glad that all the time I spent on it seems to have paid off. The corner editor is just the coolest thing ever
