LBP2 ideas and tools YOU want.

Archive: 32 posts

what tools/ new features would you like to see in the new lbp???
i personally would like to see a lot of new tools which could include:

-glue tool (glues objects without interference of other objects)

-plane viewer (toggle views of selected planes only ex: only see back thick plane)

-improved 3 way switch (see other thread if you don't know what i mean)

-emitters and times less than 0.1

-option to dissolve without smoke

-holdable object editor

-chose the amounts of planes in your level (up to 5 at least {just my opinion} )

-improved physics

-stickers with editable borders (ie. green screen effect if you want to make a custom sticker)

-keep layer glitch in but make it easier access

-closer zoom for tiny objects

-allow movement while in camera zones (useful for controlling objects without being near them)

-increase fasteners strength range (make 1 strength very weak and 10 extremely strong)

-allow for speeds over 60 on wheels

-"shock tool" (like a piston and a spring made into one)

-breakable/chippable materials.

-allow to round/angle edges of tick planes slightly (i don't really know how to explain this well)

-allow for an option so that distance from a sensor (ie sackboy sensor) is directly proportional to length or angle of wobble/pistons.

etc...

there are many many more that i can't think of off the top of my head....
so, what would you like?

- I know someone said this already, but I want them to add the option of changing the shape of the detection radius thing in Sensor switches and Mag switches (To squares, etc.).
- Editable level size. The current one is kinda small.
- The option of making Copyable levels unpublishable.
- More thermo space?
- Invisible Creature brains.
- A new option that lets you lethalize and delethalize objects using a switch.

I can't think of anything else right now .

Oh man, come on!

The thing hasn't even been officially anounced yet and you're already at it?

lol, if you're like this when the game hasn't seen the day of light yet, i can't imagine how its gonna be when it releses

Besides, remember it hasn't even been announced like i already said, which means its still like a year for release at the very least, that is IF they're really releasing it.
(And yes i do know about that other thread with the tweet of that guy and whatever, but i don't believe any thing of the sort unless officially announced)

I agree but there is something I'd like ALOT for them to add to LBP2 which seems like a nobrainer.
Ability to control the camera whilst holding a switch wire >:c

I dont think its a LBP 2 btw, looking back on what MM said once _- That they are not planning on a sequel anytime soon, that said i think this LBP2 rumor is problably some big update, like for example, Super Street Fighter 4, sounds like a new game, but its not,... its just a big update thingy from the original one, or the 2 GTA 4 episodes are another example...so who knows i mean think about it...

How will they make a LBP2 sequel, and still be very similar to LBP1? I mean if they are planning on LBP2 it will be a completely different dynamic's etc...(so imagine you using Sackboy in actual 3rd person instead of 2D-side scrolling) other than that i still dont believe the rumors, but if LBP2 comes out, it will be completely different. Meaning problably different tools etc.

Proper teleportation (for sackboy and items)
Ability to make any item invisible (at least non-material items), like the toggle on emitters.
Better camera controls in create mode (a fixed camera, for example)
More dynamic camera zones -- rotation about z-axis, for example.
Gravity control
Better dealing with of object collision in create mode -- don't have stuff collide if I don't want it to.

I don't necessarily agree, because LBP PSP was pretty much the same exact thing, and personally, I don't want an LBP2, it seems very unhealthy for the community of LBP. Even if they did have backwards compatibility, all the people who just got LBP would have to get ripped off by the second.

To be honest I think these sort of threads are totally pointless. We've seen loads of threads exactly like this since the launch of LBP making suggestions for it and Mm haven't given us anything we asked for, unless they were already planning it. They don't make stuff we want and never will. They make stuff they want or Sony tell them to make so LBP2 will be no different whatsoever.

They haven't even fixed problems with LBP1 that we've had since day one and been asking to have fixed ever since so anyone who thinks they take notice of threads like this is living in cloud cuckoo land I'm afraid.

well someones being a negative nancy. besides even if theres a slim chance the'll take these ideas into consideration, they wont at all if we don't say them.

Audio Settings. You know the option every game on earth has that lets you control the volume of soundeffects and music.2010-04-24 08:12:00

I know it's stupid, if the paintinator returns (which it has to) or the jetpack, I'd like it that if you decorate the paintinator (or jetpack) before you obtain it (walk through it) the decorations will still be there. In all them army levels the creators dress up the paintinator, but when you walk through, it goes back to normal in your hand. I know, stupid idea. It just bothers me.

How about a costume changer. Once you walk through, it changes their costume. This would work well with levels with a story.

I think a closer zoom would be pretty useful ! Even though I'd especially like to be able to zoom out further. I'm getting tired of getting my objects smaller, that messes complex shapes up... 2010-04-24 10:35:00

Yeah, sometimes when that happens to me, the whole object disappears. It's really annoying!!!

I have answers and glitches that could fix or partially fix some of your suggestions, horwitzer.

-glue tool (glues objects without interference of other objects)

You can do this by holding your analogue stick in the direction of where you want to glue while you hold down X. MM never tells you though, and barely anyone knows that trick.

-emitters and times less than 0.1

There's a ".0" emmiter on the MGS bubble vendor that registers at .025.

-allow for speeds over 60 on wheels

There's an "80" motor bolt on the noble steed object that you can strip from the object by dissolving the rest of it.

Also, about your suggestion for:

-improved physics

What do you mean? You should be more specific.

I wish we could edit the parameters of a level.
For example, you could make the ceiling of a level lower and the length of the level longer and it would still have the same area as the original parameters.
I think this would be extremely useful because, come on, who needs to build anything as high up as the current ceiling is and as far as the length is at the same time anyways
The only problem I can really think of is that backgrounds wouldn't come out right, so maybe you could only change the parameters of a level if you don't use a Mm background?

- Improved Corner editor:
-Reduced glow to make it easier to see points
-Less buggy with the grid
-The feature from the PSP version to select multiple corners at once

- Sounds:
-More generic sound effects
-Much higher range for pitch tweaking..an extra octave either end for musical sounds at least
-Tweakable activation radius like the PSP version

- The ability to hide wires from specific switches.
- A 'tweak all option' for similar switches selected through box select.
- More grid options.

Thanks, that glue trick could have saved me millions of times! And all the other tricks are cool.

Here are my ideas:

Climbing. I mean, Sack-boy can already Run, Jump, and Grab. So why can't you jump up against a corner, and grab to either jump backwards (A weaker jump of course) or pull yourself up. People have done their best to simulate this in LBP, and have done a decent job with it. So its obviously an idea that a lot of people want. To make this, I suggest making it an action, but if it must be a Tool then my idea would be to make something almost like the Bubble-maker (for replenishing breath underwater). You stick it on an object or material, and it allows Sackboy to grab onto it for a certain amount of time (which can be toggled) before he drops. Place them above eachother and he will climb up. Place them beside eachother and he will swing over (monkey bar style) to the next. etc. Perhaps make the object look like one of those bright Rock Climbing stones you see on those nice Rock Climbing walls?

(Afterthought) Perhaps it can otherwise be a power up. It would look like Rock Climbing Gear and when you walk up to Stone Material, you an hook yourself onto the surface and climb up.

I had one other idea, but I can't for the life of me remember what that was! I'll remember it sometime later and come back to it I guess :/

climbing would make levels tooo easy... It'd be good if you could enable/disable it when you make a level though.2010-04-27 01:39:00

Well couldn't they just make it so you can only climb certain objects and materials.

You posted a thread about a game that hasn't even been officially announced. It's speculation at this point, pure and simple. Pardon the bluntness of my comment, but I found the thread a bit redundant and unfounded, that's all. If the game's existance hadn't been so non-chalantly mentioned as fact, I probably would have skimmed right past and on to the next topic. It's not a personal affront against you, so please don't take it that way. No offense intended.

AHA! I remember now!

One-Way Materials (Forcefeilds perhaps?) I think it would be a cool idea. I can imagine a number of possibilities for a One-Way Material/Tool such as:

Puzzle levels. Imagine a Maze of one-way forcefeilds, where you have to press a button to reverse certain feilds' polarity to move forward.

Platforming levels. Use them for traps or platforms themselves. Jump onto a One-Way across a gas-filled pit, but stay too long and the polarity shifts and you fall through.

Action levels. Use them for cover from oncoming Plasma Balls! But watch out! If it gets hit too much, it'll disappear and leave you wide open. But if you've got the Paintinator, you can hide behind it for cover, but still be able to fire through, and not get shot.

Retro-Game levels. Like with Metroid! Those cool Bubble Doors. Shoot them a few times and they lower long enough for you to walk through. Or use them to simulate a shield for R-type games.

I think that's a solid enough idea to put in. Don't you?

i mean if i have one layer behind 2 objects, however i only want to glue it to one of them (i know obviously for this example you could simply glue it from the front, however other times you cannot

also thanks for all the awesome replies and cool ideas!
