Super Mario Galaxy 2 Surprises
Archive: 12 posts
Just came back from GT with brand new information on this latest entry in the Mario series. If anyone of you have heard, SMG2 is going to be much harder. "For veteran Mario players" was actually said. As well, if any of you have New Super Mario Bros. Wii then you have probably seen the Super Guide. Will guess what? Its back in the form of the Cosmic Guide. Here's how it works. Die a certain number of times and Rosaline appears in a form familiar to Cosmic Mario and asks you if you need help. If you say yes, then you can watch a video on how to get threw the level properly and probably start playing at anytime you want too. As well, a new suit has been added, the Cloud Suit. You are covered in small fluffy clouds and have 3 small smiling clouds that follow you ( they look like the ones that Lakuita rides.) and every time you jump and spin, one of these clouds appears right beneath you and creates a floating platform that can be blown around. And probably another exciting aspect is that the second player returns in a new form. Now, if a second player turns on, then a orange Luma ( my favorite color orange) appears and now can hold coins for Mario and shows a active role instead of a pointer stick. And if it isn't doing anything then it just follows Mario. There's so much more that I'm just going to shut up and let you watch these videos: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/cloud-suit-super-mario/64708 http://www.gametrailers.com/video/new-features-super-mario/63922 Impressive, eh ( So Canadian of me). | 2010-04-22 01:03:00 Author: orang3dragon612 Posts: 243 |
Sounds pretty interesting, I like how they've done the second player in the SMG games. My only real problem is that Mario needs to die, it is possible to overdo anything... No matter how awesome it was at first. Same with Sonic and the like... Don't get me wrong, the games are classics... But do we really need 27 of them? | 2010-04-22 01:21:00 Author: microchirp Posts: 412 |
Will, the thing with sonic, as soon as it went 3-d BAM instant failure. They just didn't know what they were doing so now the whole series has a bad rep. Sorry Sonic fans, but Mario has one of the greatest game designers in the whole game industry. Plus, Nintendo is a much bigger company then Sega so it needs a mascot. | 2010-04-22 01:28:00 Author: orang3dragon612 Posts: 243 |

Yeah, but Nintendo really needs to branch out from Mario. Unfortunately, they are making millions off of it so they technically don't . | 2010-04-22 02:57:00 Author: microchirp Posts: 412 |
I really like that mixture of 3d levels and '2d' levels. What I don't understand though, is that Roselina. Can't wait to pick up on this game, it looks pretty good I'm still waiting for Starfox to come on the Wii, though... | 2010-04-23 09:58:00 Author: Recurracy Posts: 166 |
Cool stuff! I'll only say one thing... the last game I bought for the Wii was Super Mario Galaxy 1. Amazing game. Love the Mario game line. But in my opinion I wouldn't feel my console is a success if EVERY OTHER GAME IS HORRIBLE. Ugh... I haven't played my Wii in over a year, it's on the floor just gathering dust, not even plugged in. I forget I even have it sometimes, at least this will give me a reason to use it. And I guess the next Zelda if/when that comes out. | 2010-04-23 20:46:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |

EVERY OTHER GAME IS HORRIBLE. Nope, not at all! Shovelware does vastly outweigh the quality titles, yes, but there are way more than enough stellar games for the system. Just this year we've had Tatsunoko vs Capcom, No More Heroes 2, Red Steel 2, Monster Hunter Tri, all amazing titles. The only reason your Wii gathers dust is because.. well, I dunno. No good reasons. Not to mention TOTAL backwards compatibility with the Gamecube library, which (IMO) was the greatest system last gen. | 2010-04-24 04:42:00 Author: monstahr Posts: 1361 |
I'm really stoked about this game coming out, but I'm going to have to wait to play it until three or four weeks after it comes out, since I get out of school in mid-June. Why does college always have to get in the way of the things that matter? Oh well. I just can't wait until we get Zelda Wii. On the topic of Mario dying, it won't happen. Mario is Miyamoto's bread and butter. It's the mascot of the company. But, as long as they continue to innovate their titles like they never fail to do, I've got no problem with it. Some may say that Galaxy 2 is just prolonging the inevitable in keeping him in space because there's nothing left to explore, but I'm not so sure. I think they'll drop outer space with their next title and try to redefine the genre again. Just look at the jump from Super Mario World (SNES) and Mario 64. Both are great games, but from my perspective, Mario 64 really changed platforming. Really, as long as Mario is still synonymous with great, quality platforming and innovative gameplay, I don't think he needs to die. | 2010-04-26 07:55:00 Author: Unknown User |
