Either you've neglected to set the three-way to 'speed' mode, or you haven't connected it to every motor bolt you're using, so one or more of them are always active even when the switch is in its neutral position.

If I'm understanding your question, it's: How to make something directional AND speed controlled, yes?

If so, this is a rather tricky conundrum in LBP. There is another Help! thread on this subject, with several of the best brains at LBPC contributing, and I don't know that they came up with a truly viable solution. But it's probably worth reading through:

Good luck!

Can I ask how to get around the problem of the dodgy deadzone with a three-way switch? My vehicles tend to creep forwards or backwards a lot.

I remember horwitzer writing somewhere that they had overcome the problem.

I will have to try what Aya042 suggested (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=23656-Directional-AND-Speed-logic&p=413972&viewfull=1#post413972) in the thread v0rtex linked in the meantime and see if that works.

As far as I can tell, there's no way to access the dead zone of a speed-based three-way once it's been moved from a neutral position. Double-bolting is seemingly the only option, unless there's some funky way to re-emit a new three-way set to the dead zone, but I don't see how that could work.

i recommend doing this buddy, instead of using a 3 way switch, how about 2 grab switches that change directions from forwards to backwards, To do this make a box of dark matter, place a 3 way switch inside, then connect a piston, or winch to the grabbing part. 1 on each side of it/ Connect a grab switch to the 2 sponges, connect one grab switch to one piston, and another grab switch to another, get me? Here is a video by my friend Bifbuzz. Check out his level to get one of these, "logic boxes" as we call them.
