Linked Levels Logic Lend-A-Hand

Archive: 14 posts

Wow. I just HAD to figure out a synonym for help that started with L so that my thread name could be an alliteration. That's hard to do.
Anyway, I am a new member and I need some help making some logic for a boss in a series of linked levels I am going to be publishing soon (if I can figure out how to make a whole level low-gravity).
It's the Alien-In-UFO boss from the old DOS game Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure by Apogee Games
I have a program that lets me rip sprites out to paint, so I don't need any help making him look good; however I just can't seem to wrap my head around the concept of just how to make him move right and be able to be destroyed by jumping on him the right amount of times because he has pieces fall off of him midway through but the jump count needs to keep going on even while pieces of him are falling off. (Sorry that sentence was so long.)
I have the MGS and POTC packs so if that helps, there you go.
Here's a link to the online version if you haven't played it before: (thanks to jwwphotos for giving it to me on another thread)

I'm not sure you're going to get many people to download that, and I would advise our younger members to avoid downloading .exe files from unknown sources. It's nothing personal, it's just the nature of the internet.

thanks for responding to my thread here.
two things-first it is the online (java-based) version so nobody has to download anything.
and second- i know what my name is. i looked for something else but this was the first one available.

I'm definitely getting a prompt to save an .exe as shown in this screenshot:

The picture's a bit tiny, but it looks like the Java Runtime Environment which should be safe. If you don't trust getting it from there, then go grab it from Java's official site (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp) before going to that page.

I already had Java installed, so I didn't get any prompts to install.

Not to be rude but can we get back to the question at hand?
I need someone who is great at logic to help with translating the boss into LBP.
If you want, I think you can download the original game (it's shareware) from Apogee.
Get it here: ftp://ftp.3drealms.com/share/1cosmo.zip

I'm pretty handy with boss-logic having done 3 decent bosses. Feel free to give me a friend request and I'll see if I can help.

NOTE: My PSN (ChamionB) is different from my LBPC name (Chamion B).

Thanks, I mean I can do some logic and am in the process of making a logic level in which I give the secrets that I know about good, reliable logic, I just have a little trouble with boss movement logic, so thanks for offering. I will send you a friend request soon.
P.S. I would like you to play the game I am referencing just to know what you're going to be helping with. Just follow the .zip link above, or if you don't want that, the other link will get you to the online version, but you can't save, etc. The game is free to download, so I would recommend that option. I think the boss's first appearance is in level 8, but it has been a while since I've played it.

Now that LBP2 has been announced, I wonder if I should just wait till it drops to make this level series.
Either way I'm totally going to pre-order LBP2.

What do you guys think?

OK, so I need someone to download 2 things to their computer (kids, get your parents permission) to help me, since the game stopped working on mine.
First, the game. Follow the link (.zip) above.
Second, Wombat Game Tools. (http://www.szevvy.com/downloads)
Then open wombat and extract the boss images as .png files and e-mail them to me.
If I could do it on my computer, I would.
(darn you windows 7)
