My Current Projects (Your Opinions Please)
Archive: 20 posts
Well as you know, I created the side-scrolling level "Sackboy Plays LBP PSP! V1.1", and it was a hit. So, after I was given a suggestion on making another side-scrolling level, I decided to make another one. This time, however, it's a DS side-scroller. So, where am I going with this? Well I'm planning on making a side-scroller series (or pack), and I wanted your opinions on this. The series (pack) will consist of 3 levels: A PSP one (which is the "Sackboy Plays LBP PSP! V1.1" level). A DS one (I'm think Mario on this for this side-scroller). An iPod Touch one (not really sure what games are on here though, but I'm working on it). So, I want you to give me your opinion on this. Things like "maybe this game for the iPod Touch" and "I think you've done enough side-scrolling" will be nice opinions. :hero: Now, my other projects (yes, there's others)! I always wanted to make an actual story level. As some of you have noticed, my levels are either mini-games or just platformers. However, I want to try something new. So this is where my new project comes in. Basically, you crash in a jungle, and you must escape while fighting off some tribes. This will be a 4 level series, so I'm hoping this story will go fine. Oh, and I haven't named this yet (but I might have an idea though). So maybe you can suggest me one, if you like. Here's the descriptions on all 4 levels: You crash in a jungle. You must fight your way to a mountain where you can start a signal fire and get out. You get attacked by a tribe near the mountain, so you cannot leave how you planned. Now you must escape the tribe. You escape the tribe, but you end up finding out why the kidnapped you. You discover a temple in which the tribe thought you were going to enter in order to steal the sacred item. You enter this temple and your journey continues. You finally lay your hands on this item, but now you're being chased by the tribe and the treasure hunters you met inside the temple. You must get to the treasure hunters' chopper, or you're dead. I'm already making the first one, so please tell me what you think before I get to far in this, only to find out that you guys hate it. Finally, I'm going to make an arcade series (or pack, whatever you like to call it), and it's going to either be one level, or just multiple ones. Why multiple? Well, LBP on PSP is sometimes too laggy, and with it's not so powerful system, I don't think I can put all these arcade games into one level. So ya, I'm going to see if I can make these. Here's 2 that I'm thinking of making: Tetris Brick Breaker So, your opinion again? Oh, and add some of your own suggestions if you like. I know I’ll add more, when I think of them. So thanks for reading, and please give me your intake on these things. I really want to make another great level, but to do that, I need you guys. I will tell you, your LBP PSP was a fantastic level. I loved it so much and hearted it. Although, maybe this is just me, but if you create a ds side scroller, I'd be disappointed. Especially since it's mario. I mean this is all up to you and your decision, but I would rather sitck to psp instead doing ds or ipod. This is just me, once again. Who knows, maybe you can pull this off too, and maybe I'll change my mind. If you do this, I'm hoping you do very good for it. As for the iPod side scroller, just make it some futuristic level or something, like an app wannabe. Hope this helps and I hope I didn't bring your hopes down. | 2010-04-17 01:46:00 Author: Spark151 Posts: 801 |

I'm asking for opinions here. If I wanted everybody to say "OK, that's great!", then it's not really an opinion, now is it. So, right now the DS looks like it's not to accepted. I'll have to look into that. Now for the iPod Touch, I guess I can make it a app based game like you said. Maybe it can be about deleting all the apps you can reach while you scroll through your system's memory. Anyways, thanks! Keep 'em coming. | 2010-04-17 01:51:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
Hi! I've never played games on a DS or an Ipod Touch, so I really wouldn't be able to give an objective opinion about those ideas... but I think your arcade and story level plans sound really cool ^^. The plot of the story levels seems especially exciting and I really hope you choose to push through with them XD. | 2010-04-17 02:59:00 Author: Phalaina Posts: 181 |

I was hoping that my first attempt in making a story level series would go smoothly, so seeing your post makes me feel more confident on it. | 2010-04-17 03:04:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
Personally, I love the idea of you making games for different "platforms". Like everyone else here, I loved Sackboy Plays LBP PSP! and I want to see more. I think the sidescroller format works very well, although you could even do a vertical scroller as well if you were feeling adventurous. Spark151's Solid Journey has a great vertical scrolling section with the lava - a whole level like that would be awesome. | 2010-04-17 03:19:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |

I barely learned on that day that a piston has a limit to it's length... That's why the lava rising part didn't last as long as I wanted it to. | 2010-04-17 03:22:00 Author: Spark151 Posts: 801 |

Except for me it was with winches - while I was building A New Hop. The Death Star trench was about 50% longer, but the winches maxed out at 1000 and I had to take a section out of the middle. | 2010-04-17 03:47:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |

I'm probably going to make the verticle thing, but seeing that my other level took up the whole horizontal length, I'm not expecting the vertical part to last long. Oh, and I know a way how to increase your desired vertical side scrolling needs. In fact, I might make a tutorial on it and add it on your thread. | 2010-04-17 04:17:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
Oh, and I know a way how to increase your desired vertical side scrolling needs. In fact, I might make a tutorial on it and add it on your thread. Interesting - I'd love to see what you have up your sleeve. I've had a hard time coming up with anything that would do that very well. Of course I have no immediate need for the, er, technology but I'm very intrigued. | 2010-04-17 04:43:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |
Okay, so with the tutorial, I have about 7+ levels to design (the "+" means that I might add more, especially for the arcade pack... when I get ideas for it). Man, do I have my work cut out for me or what? | 2010-04-17 05:10:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |

Awesome! Btw, did you ever fix that level "Into The Pipes"? | 2010-04-17 13:38:00 Author: Fastbro Posts: 1277 |
Warning: Excessive caps ahead. DO NOT ABANDON THE DS PROJECT. PERIOD. DON'T LET STUPID FANBOYS *cough* Spark *cough* TELL YOU THE DS ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH. Okay, now that I've gotten that out, I love all of these ideas, and here's a suggestion for DS Mario if you haven't thought of it already: Make a section where you can rise to the upper screen and have one of those cloud sections. However, keep the other scroll for this as horizontal. Also, there is already a really good Tetris on LBP, so keep this in mind. | 2010-04-17 14:24:00 Author: Voltergeist Posts: 1702 |
Warning: Excessive caps ahead. DO NOT ABANDON THE DS PROJECT. PERIOD. DON'T LET STUPID FANBOYS *cough* Spark *cough* TELL YOU THE DS ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH. Hmm... I never said he shouldn't make it. I just said I wouldn't like the idea about it. Nice way to mention my name too. Especially since it's in caps and underlined. Anyways, I don't want to be a badguy, but CyberSora did mention opinions. Personally, this just happens to be mine. | 2010-04-17 15:03:00 Author: Spark151 Posts: 801 |
Yeah, sorry about that. I just want to make it absolutely clear that Cy shouldn't skip a DS installment. | 2010-04-17 16:03:00 Author: Voltergeist Posts: 1702 |
Looks like we won't be hearing from Cyber for awhile. | 2010-04-17 19:28:00 Author: Silver39 Posts: 1703 |
Lies I say! As you can see, I'm posting right now. Seriously, don't blame a guy for using up his Saturday morning for some serious sleeping. :kz: Anyways, thanks for all the opinions and ideas so far. I can tell you right now that some of your ideas are going to be used in these projects *cough* Tap Tap Revenge *end cough*. MAKE TAP TAP REVENGE FOR THE IPOD TOUCH!! sorry got excited! but yea! its sorta like guitar hero. vertical scrolling, make three platforms which are attached to the base w/ springs, and yea! perfect umm if u need more help just ask Can you elaborate on this? Post me a video or something? Sorry, but I never heard of this game (but by the way you mentioned it, it seems that I'm really out on some fun here ). Awesome! Btw, did you ever fix that level "Into The Pipes"? No, sadly I decided that my fustration towards this level won't be making so eager to re-create it soon. Sorry. Well, I'll see if I can top that level... or at least meet its standards. As for Mario being on the DS, I was thinking the exact same thing! I was going to do that vertical scrolling part when you reach a pipe, though. But I might squeeze yours in. Oh, and WOOT! One of my quotes finally made it in a sig! http://images.intomobile.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/tap-tap-revenge3.jpg ok basically you have to tap the coloured buttons as the balls come down in their assigned lines. now im thinking instead of tapping them on lbp, just jump on them! and play some music in the bg. hmmm.. OH YEA!! add a sensor to every single ball and attach to an emitter which will give out bubbles. This way the more balls you intercept by "tapping" the button, the higher your score | 2010-04-18 08:46:00 Author: Alismuffin Posts: 1328 |
Ah man, but that isn't a side scroller. Then again, it is an arcade game. Maybe I'll put that in the Arcade Pack. | 2010-04-19 14:23:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
