Shigeru Miyamoto Level

Archive: 11 posts

Its not really an idea for a level but how cool of a level do you think Shigeru Miyamoto can make in Little Big Planet? I mean this guy has his name some of the greatest games ever like the original arcade Donkey Kong(Saved Nintendo from bankruptcy and the debut of Jumpman aka Mario), the original super mario bros(Saved console games and made them popular again after Atari went into bankruptcy), Super Mario 64(only the blueprint for most 3d games today), Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time(Highest rated game of all time) and Super Mario Galaxy(GOTY last year on most major sites/magazines). It was even his idea to change metroid to First Person view after the first gamecube build was apparently lackluster (What happened next? Only Metroid Prime another game on the highest rated of all time list). Even the controller for the wii was based on his idea and thats got my grandmother playing video games with me.

The above is just a few examples from key series since the list would go on forever. The man is a video game god. I'm scared to think of what hed come up with Little Big Planets ridiculously deep level creator. Whos with me on petitioning sony to find a way to hijack him and put him in front of a PS3 until hes done?

Well he's not specifically a level designer and more of the guy that comes up with the awesome games (lyk wii fit lulz) but if he and a professional level designer got together to make a LBP level there would be probably be an explosion of awesome.2008-10-03 20:06:00

I'm not sure he would play a game on a competing system, but I'm sure his levels would be great. 2008-10-03 20:32:00

Thats tru now but back in the day he used to do everything. I know this because i remember reading a story about the reason he gave mario a hat was that it was easier for him to draw lol. But I'm going to agree with Marino on this one he's probably so loyal to nintendo he prob doesnt even own a sony tv let alone a playstation lol

i cant say i hate nitendo because i like the ds, i liked the gamecube because it had some hardcore game and some casual, pretty much how the ps3 is, but to me the wii gone a step back, it gone for complete casual, now what i have notice that their are tons of minigames for the wii which are all the same, to me the wii gettin repetive, and mario use been use almost for every good game for the wii
their are some good games on the wii but it seem to get boring and their hardly any game with a great story like resistance, halo, uncharted ect, to me wii just a ps2 with motion contol, some can say that a ps3 is just a ps3 with better grafics, but the difference is that ps3 can open a new world of game eg lbp, while wii is limited by the hardware

I'm not a fan the direction the Wii is going in terms of third party support(ie Gamecube/ps2 ports with slapped on wiimote controls) I'm still very much a fan of nintendo mainly because they're the only ones who kno what theyre doing with the controls. in terms of gameplay Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess are on par with anything the PS3/360 has to offer just lacking HD graphics. The problem is all those games are from Nintendo. Everyone else is more interested in making garbage like World Circus Games or previously released games with painful to use waggle controls or whatever and right now nintendo needs more time to develop more AAA titles so we're stuck with garbage. I haven't been interested in buying anything for the wii since smash bros came out except wii fit and my gf bought that cuz she wanted it lol. You gotta give it to them though theyre getting people like my gf to buy games who before wii wouldn't even want to play let alone buy.

Well the Wii is on top, so they obviously didn't take a step back, and they did get game of the year for 2007 with Super Mario Galaxy.

And no I don't own a Wii, I just don't think they went a step back, they're doing better then Microsoft and Sony, console wise.

If he made a level, yes, it'd be either the top-rated and played in the game, or close to it. He's a self-professed perfectionist, if I recall correctly, so yeah...

I just don't think that a Nintendo lead would be sitting down in front of the PS3 exclusive for the purpose of making and publishing a level. Then again...who knows. It may be it gets huge, and he looks into it to see what makes it what it is. But that'd probably involve just some creating for himself, to see the power of it. But ya never know, he may end up making something great, and decide to publish it for the fun of it.

Officially, I do NOT like the Wii, and I've used quite a bit of it. Motion controls, even at their best, either phail, are okay but clumsy, or are just imprecise and require a level of input that just an analog stick is so much better at. Don't try to reinvent the wheel and replace it with a twelve-sided star. Motion controls are, however, great in some more minor applications, typically imprecise, backup functions, but not as the main controls.

I dont know man the shooting controls in the RE 4 remake were pretty f'in sweet. Same with metroid prime 3 especially during the boss fights. Its not quite as precise as a mouse but i found it definately better than an analog stick plus you get the feeling that your really shooting at the monster with the whole arm extended pressing the trigger motion. I heard the controls in Okami remake were perfect too compared to the PS2 controller but I had played the original ps2 version 2 years ago so I never picked it up. I think the problem is everyone is either overdoing the motion controls and making them too complicated or being lazy and regurgetating the same crap since people keep buying whatever comes out on the wii. Its a shame too because when its done right the wii controller gives you a totally immersive way to play a game. But I cant really blame them at the same time cuz if i was running a business and even though my game was getting terrible reviews but reg people kept snatching every copy on the shelf I wouldn't be too worried about impressing the critics either. Oh well hopefully all the new gamers the wii is attracting will smarten up and realise theres so much better out there and stop supporting lazy developers
