A Screen for yourself
Archive: 8 posts
This was just at the top of my head at the time, just a thought anyways. The main issue with (One of the main issues) playing online is that your screen is shared with the rest of the people, so you can't go off on your own, and this really limits the player's ability to explore the level. As you know creating online with your friends already lets each player(s) to go off on his/her own, so, why not add this to the 'Play' aspect of the game? Each player with their own console (and whoever is playing with them on that console) that our playing online with someone else, can take their own screen, and go somewhere else in the level. Though of course, there would be a toggle switch for the Creator of that level to allow this or not. Interesting? | 2010-04-16 00:00:00 Author: DaSackBoy Posts: 606 |
Hmm.... i think it would be cool... though you should have searched to see if there has been suggested before... (It has) | 2010-04-16 02:56:00 Author: Joshofsouls Posts: 1569 |

Until I can find the missing link to the thread Josh spoke of, I'll just leave my 2 cents worth on this one. @DaSackBoy...I like this idea very much. It would come in very handy playing levels with my, soon to be 8 yr. old, daughter. She is definitely "a happy gadder". Rick | 2010-04-16 23:57:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |

Rick It's the first thing anyone says the first time they are run off the screen by someone - "Why can't we have our own screen"; I can see the merits (having it as a toggle may be a good solution) - but I'd rather not see this in the game. Part of the beauty of LBP is that feeling of togetherness - of 'Community'; It's bad enough already with 'happy gadders' just running ahead thoughtlessly leaving everyone one else to time out off screen - but imagine how much worse it'd be if they could just continue running ahead? - they'd run right to the end of the level before you've even got to the chance to start looking around. At least with the current way you can catch up with them next checkpoint and give them a slap or drag them back to where you wanted to explore. It'd make the 4 player pretty meaningless - as all you see was your own Sackboy - and be wondering why everything in the level has already been triggered (by the happy gadder); Nope - split-screen/individual screens - that's for 'other' games.... LBP is all for 1 - 1 for all | 2010-04-19 18:58:00 Author: Macnme Posts: 1970 |

LBP is all for 1 - 1 for all I think you've made a good point about LBP's "togetherness". Having individual screen or screens that don't kill each other would remove this whole point. What if someone rushed and took the only vehicle or someone took all of the point bubbles? There are a lot of things that can go wrong with individual screens which would make online player very boring. | 2010-04-20 04:49:00 Author: xKaijudox Posts: 32 |
Having 4 individual screens would introduce some annoying problems, particularly with checkpoints and music and things. I say keep it the way it is. The part where this feature is most important is create mode, and it's like that in create mode, so I'm happy. | 2010-04-20 10:08:00 Author: qrtda235566 Posts: 3664 |
