Glitches

Archive: 7 posts

Having just read a thread in general gaming, and raised the issue with Aya, i would like to suggest an addition to the rules. From what i am told, there is no rule against telling people about glitches in games, and how to exploit them. This is ok to a point, some of them in LBP are apparently useful, however when it is telling you how to cheat in a game to gain an advantage, i don't think it is something which should be allowed.

The site is about a game, and enjoyment of the game. If people are glitching on a game, it spoils the fun for everyone else, because they are unfairly disadvantaged. Advertising how to do it makes the site look bad, and in my opinion should be against the rules.

Any threads with information on how to do it should, in my opinion, be locked (with exceptions, LBP glitches that make for a better experience being an example of this) and if a user persists in posting threads like it, then further action should be taken...

Maybe everyone will see it differently to me, but it doesn't seem right...

Hey, can you give an example of the glitches you speak of? I've only heard of the ones useful for creation.2010-04-14 21:36:00

To clarify, he's referring to this thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=25351-Uncharted-2-Fountain-of-Knowledge).

Oh, I thought he was talking about LBP glitches, exclusively. Thanks. Yeah, it seems ridiculous lame, but there's really nothing making you read the topics.. I guess I might have a stronger opinion on this if I really played any competitive games.2010-04-14 21:55:00

If you play a game online and are getting killed by someone who is in a location which makes them invulnerable/hard to see, because they shouldn't be there, it's incredibly frustrating. Sure you could leave, but you shouldn't have to. As far as i'm concerned, people passing stuff like that around is unacceptable, because it defeats the object of playing games, which is to have fun. If you have to cheat to have fun, then play on private servers, because most people don't want to play with you, and most will dislike you.

Having threads saying how to do it and encouraging it is not something we should want on the forums, except for possibly LBP and other *fun* glitches which cause no harm. Cheating and glitching go hand in hand, and i don't think the forums want to become known for that.

I think this is already a type of rule here. Sony does not allow players to glitch/hack/or take advantage of a game through any way that is considered "cheating". It's a rule in the PS(R) Terms, and if it's a rule there, it's a rule here.2010-04-14 22:32:00

I thought so, but Aya didn't see anything in the site rules, so i thought i'd bring it up...2010-04-14 22:40:00
