Power of the PlanetRhys125 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=15352"Immerse yourself in this vast, violent and vibrant world, showing our planet at its most beautiful." A relatively easy level that focuses more on visuals than gameplay. This is the first of my levels i've posted in the level showcase. I'm looking for some substantial feedback because you can only get so much feedback from the in-game comments! This level was originally just me practicing with the corner editor but it turned into a full-blown level! xD I wish I learned to use it at the start! http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=15357http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=15358http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=15359http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=15360http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=15361 So yeah, looking forward to reading your feedback and playing your levels! http://lbp.me/v/rzhpsw | 2010-04-14 16:13:00 Author: Rhys125 Posts: 841 |

Awesome, it's finally out. I'll try this when I get back home, it looks gorgeous. You are similiar to me as in I love making levels with visuals more then gameplay. D: | 2010-04-14 16:36:00 Author: AbstractSam Posts: 332 |

This level is amazing, I wish it was longer because it was really good.. 5 stars and a heart | 2010-04-14 16:51:00 Author: Alec Posts: 3871 |
Great level here. I really enjoyed it 5stars plus heart! But even so I thought one or two things could be tweaked. There's a hidden cave near the start you have to pull a piece of rock out and it dissolves. The sfx of something breaking keeps repeating then after that when you pass by it. Maybe put the sound on that little chunk of rock that dissolves and set it to on destruction. The underwater section seemed a bit too dark, I'm not playing on a HDTV and the resolution isn't the best so this probably has some impact on what I'm seeing. But what was in the background looked great but too faint. Increasing the radius/brightness of the blue lights could help, that's if there is blue lights down there.. Last thing that stood out to me was the bit after the water your in a cave and you push a rock out of the way. Light pours in then and it looks great but as you run through and past it you visibly see the light going off. Maybe increase the radius for which it stays on just until it's off screen. Other than that the visuals were lovely. I really liked the volcano and all the little details around the place. Great work | 2010-04-14 16:59:00 Author: OneEyedBanshee Posts: 1370 |

*yawn*... no this level was any thing but boring. Some of the greatest scenery I have ever seen in lbp. I particularly liked the forest. Great job! | 2010-04-15 00:31:00 Author: austimerr Posts: 385 |
I was browsing around the newest levels yesterday and found this. I'm glad I was one of the frist to play it []. Awesome level, a nice break from the survival ones. | 2010-04-15 00:33:00 Author: Snappyguy Posts: 710 |
Saw this in the ideas and projects section before. Looked good then and I'm sure it does now! Will play! | 2010-04-15 02:58:00 Author: piggabling Posts: 2979 |
Interesting level. The visuals are amazing and the platforming is good. The volcano scenery is awesome and the jungle scenery really feels like you're in a tropical forest. | 2010-04-15 03:03:00 Author: JustinArt Posts: 1314 |
I'm gonna have to check this out. I saw part of it earlier and that was purely amazing and the ending you were talking about sounded awesome Ill have to play it this weekend. | 2010-04-15 03:32:00 Author: bmoney2310 Posts: 187 |
Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it! @ Banshee, I'll give "Malevolence" some feedback now! | 2010-04-15 17:43:00 Author: Rhys125 Posts: 841 |
Wow, I must say, you fit a HECK of a lot of stuff into one level, not only the length of the level, but the different pieces of scenery, and then there were so many corners! You're really good at handling the thermo! Everything looked top-notch, and gameplay-wise there was nothing wrong. Great platforming, with some nice obstacles and backtracking. The different environments really made this level stand out for me, and they really made you constantly want to keep playing. The only thing I found wrong was at the end; Right before the final underwater lava part, you placed some barnacles on the background. Sorry to say this, but they were terribly placed It made it look like another level compared to the rest of it. This is because they were all the same size, and spaced apart. Try putting some in larger groups, or making some bigger/smaller. In the end I somehow got the high-score, and I gave it 5 stars and a heart. VERY well done, especially when this was just fooling with the corner editor o_0 If you wouldn't mind, could you give me some feedback on my level 'The Mythos', the link is in my signature, so you can find it there. Thank you very much! | 2010-04-16 00:12:00 Author: Kog Posts: 2358 |
Saw this in projects, glad it's turned into a level! As usual I'll note stuff as I play then summarise. - Volcano + steam hazard was great. - Lava looks nice moving. Nice one. - Raptor skeleton = win! (I assume it's a raptor) - Rock slide + spear gun was awesome. Cool how the spear gun shot the same thing in two directions from the same starting point. - Waterfalls looked nice. - Eyetoy sticker is cheating! jk You could just sticker MM's shell (from gardens) instead. - Wobbly cave platform could look better, thin layer spikes didn't match the rest imo. - The water reeds are cool. Never seen them in LBP I don't think. - Jungle is my favourite part so far. Love the snake. I think it might be better if you put a thin layer in front of the parrot's feet, atm the look like they are floating. Custom flowers are coolies! Bunny ears, monster arms, bat wings and horns, nice! - I hate that music during the ending water scene, so I muted it and enjoyed the scenery. Luckily it changed pretty quickly. - Ending was cool too. Was there anything to the left of the underwater lava? (i forget the real name for it haha) This level has a very organic feel, which is way harder to achive than metallic/futuristic in LBP. Kudos. Fantasic work. 5 stars, hearted for visual reference. (to steal your techniques muhaha) (my f4f link in sig) | 2010-04-16 05:02:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
wooooow what a level very nice visuals i must say. the geyser hazards were a surprise and welcomed...enough underwater exploration with some nice challenges...this level really made me think how beautiful this planet is in its natural way too bad you didnt put that cool techno-like song from the music pack in that secret underwater cave with all the lights....love that music | 2010-04-16 05:48:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |
Really nice visuals, everything was dense and layered, you really squeezed in a lot of variation in there! Loved the amount of interactivity of the scenery too, its always fun when things start collapsing around you. : ) Would have loved a little more gameplay like the harpoon sequence and that kind of thing, but totally get that you weren't focussing on that aspect for this one. Looking forward to seeing what you do next! | 2010-04-16 11:49:00 Author: julesyjules Posts: 1156 |

Thanks again for the feedback, and you did an awesome job with this level! Amazing visuals and platforming, and gimmick free. Just awesome platformy goodness. Loved the grappling hook section especially! I can't suggest any ways to improve because it was absolutely fine. | 2010-04-18 19:48:00 Author: Skeggers Posts: 583 |

Power of the Planet by @Rhys125 I'm gonna give some thoughts whilst playing the level, because that way it's just easier for you to know exactly what I liked/ didn't like! The badge looks good for a start, and the ratings on your level are positive so far - I'm expecting something good already. First challenge was nice, I wasn't quite surewhy I died to start with, but upon going back I realised. The first checkpoint seems oddly placed at first, but it's quite useful actually. Visually it all looks strong and the layers are well manipulated. The second half of the volcano section again looks good - some very nice effects employed, especially liking the lava waterfalls. The hidden area is clever, but I feel there's a lack of score bubbles there - kudos on the prize though, that's gonna be useful. Love the cave section - the harpoons were a highlight, and a very clever idea! It feels a bit devoid of life.. I think it would have been nice to maybe have a spider web, or a bat flying across the screen. Really minor things, but they could help the overall atmosphere. The backtracking was another good point here that I certainly enjoyed. The swimming area was another well worked section, really enjoyed the visuals but again there could be a couple of fishes or something, really your choice though. I found the secret area, and I thought it looked great. Really liked the fact you give away such good prizes, your own made things are really good! The R1 sign you've used fits well and the stone blocks falling are a nice touch. Second half of the cave section is probably my favourite bit so far. The waterfalls with sound are amzing, and there's some challenging platforming. The highlight was the use of lighting as I pushed the stone back at the end - that truely amzed me, nice details. Visually, this forest section excells amongst your others. There's so much going on, what with the 3D glitch, and it all looks phenomenal. I'll be coming back to try the 2x challenge next time I have someone in my pod! I think the vines you swing on could maybe have a decoration? They look a bit empty and a little out of place - otherwise though this section is great, lovely layer manipulation as usual. I felt the ending was really well done, the volcanoe erupting was a lovely touch. Nothing more to say than the excellent 5 star rating and of course a heart for you! Loved it | 2010-04-19 10:04:00 Author: Coxy224 Posts: 2645 |
Wow wah woo wah. This looks really good! | 2010-04-19 17:28:00 Author: qrtda235566 Posts: 3664 |
I've added some of your suggestions to the level. I've made the underwater section a big lighter and i've changed the arrangement of barnacles near the end. | 2010-04-21 15:20:00 Author: Rhys125 Posts: 841 |
This looks like fun, I love the pics, I'll play this soon. | 2010-04-21 23:01:00 Author: X-FROGBOY-X Posts: 1800 |
Great level. It was just so satisfying to play. You said that gameplay was not your priority but I didn?t ever feel that there was anything lacking as I played, simply because you managed to fit so many different environments to explore. You obviously have a real talent for visuals. The lava ?waterfalls? at the start were great; the caverns were wonderful with all the stalactites and stalagmites and some great waterfalls; the jungle was vibrant and beautiful and the volcano at the end was amazing. I also loved all the movement that you managed to create in the landscape with rock falls, earthquakes, falling branches and erupting volcanoes. My only nitpick is something Coxy mentioned too ? the vines that you swing on didn?t look very natural but it's not a big deal. I think I only noticed it because the rest of the level is so polished. A really beautiful and satisfying level. 5 stars and a heart. | 2010-04-21 23:41:00 Author: shropshirelass Posts: 1455 |
There are all types of levels. Some need gameplay to make it succeed. This one was so beautiful that the gameplay element wasn't missed at all. Actually, this is one of the most beautiful levels I've ever played. I love how clever you were with your stickering on the flowers. And your greenery was the best I've ever seen. Great job and I'm so glad I didn't miss this one. 5 stars (beautiful) and hearted! | 2010-04-21 23:56:00 Author: TheCountessZ Posts: 537 |
Love how the level starts with volcano and it erupting Great visuals throughout the whole level with lava flowing , waterfalls , 3d backgroung, environment , and much more . Hey there. This is a splendid level. Going through the level is a very inspiring trip, which is because of all the great details you putted in this level. Every single detail is worked on, and it looks splendid. Me and my friend was blewn away by the graphics. Especially the part with the 3D background. The end totally lives up with every other part of the level, it was a great way for the Scoreboard to appear. It isn't hardest puzzle experience, and there wasn't any story, but it was just a delightful trip through a lot of different parts in our world. Really deserves the 5 stars and a lot more plays. It's bad that it's stuck on 4 right now. I have no complaints about it. You might not find my level as decent in visuals as yours, but I still want you to play it, if you have got the time. It's called Dragon Ball - First Book. Link to thread: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=24798-Dragon-Ball-First-Book | 2010-04-22 21:35:00 Author: ghik16 Posts: 311 |
Visually interesting, might even have a few things i would consider using myself. Hearted it for that reason. But where was the gameplay? Luckily you knew that this level lacks in that department, and luckily for me I was in a good mood and appreciated the visuals you have created. | 2010-04-25 13:06:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |
Thanks again for the feedback guys! Just wanted to say that i've got an idea for my next level and I plan to have much more gameplay in it! | 2010-04-27 08:45:00 Author: Rhys125 Posts: 841 |
Hi, I have played your level. It is really nice visually. Nevertheless, as Lous said, there is a lack of gameplay Overall, 5 stars, as it is soooo good visually (especially the caves) GOOD: - the visuals, in particular the volcano at the very beginning and the caves - the level is funny, you do not go forward all time THINGS YOU SHOULD THINK ABOUT - I found the volcano part little bit laggy - there is a strong lack of gameplay. I mean, in my opinion, the player enjoys the trip, but it's a trivial trip, without challenge Sorry if I sound to crude, but I think this can become an awesome level if you just add some platforms/creatures somewhere. Could you take a look at my F4F level? I'd really appreciate your feedback, mostly regarding the difficult of the boss. Thanks | 2010-04-27 18:03:00 Author: onturenio Posts: 138 |
I played this a while ago, it was a really cool level. You are great when it comes to using the lava material. The visuals in this level were very clean cut, and interesting. The plant life you made was awesome. The flower with the bunny ear decoration as the petals was truly ingenious. The gameplay was really cool too, from the lava falls to the just plain jumping, it was always fun. I also liked the level badge, and the ending was the best I've ever seen. Overall, this level is really worth giving a play. I rated it :star::star::star::star::star: and hearted it. | 2010-04-28 22:06:00 Author: X-FROGBOY-X Posts: 1800 |
Awesome visuals, nice music cues, great atmosphere. I love the harpoon. Ooh, I found a secret area in the water with these lights attached to winches. Personally, I would like the winches to be invisible cuz it doesn't really fit the level. Love the earthquakes and the different waterfalls. Love the animals. Why are the parrots floating though? Maybe attaching the piston end to the bottom of the branch instead of the top would help. Awesome sunflowers! Creative! Incredible visuals. 5 star/heart/creator heart. Great work! | 2010-04-29 01:54:00 Author: MrTran Posts: 216 |
THINGS YOU SHOULD THINK ABOUT - I found the volcano part little bit laggy Thanks for the feedback onturenio! The Tank Factory is great! As for the lag at the volcano, I don't think there's much I can do reduce it. In an older build of the level, the lava underneath the platforms was in the form of a wave, with at least a hundred pieces of lava moving in a wave formation. The lag at this point was terrible so I had to change it to one simple block. i gave away the original object i made as a prize though. I forget where I put it but the name of the prize is "large wave platform". Ooh, I found a secret area in the water with these lights attached to winches. Personally, I would like the winches to be invisible cuz it doesn't really fit the level. Thanks MrTran! Your levels were hilarious! The lights on visible winches in the secret area are meant to be a species of cave glow worm. They lower a silken strand to capture insects. Check out this video to see the look i was going for! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCX1fM387eQ&feature=related EDIT: I've finally fixed the floating parrots! | 2010-04-29 10:31:00 Author: Rhys125 Posts: 841 |

Also, It's possible to shrink winches to make them really thin. Just attatch both ends of the winch to two different blocks, select the whole lot and then shrink it down! Just a suggestion for if you'd like to have thin glow-worm strands! =) | 2010-05-11 16:57:00 Author: Weretigr Posts: 2105 |

This level was absolutely gorgeous, the best use of the lava material I've seen. Some really cool scenery, I liked the diversity of the whole level. I personally didn't feel that gameplay was amiss as the purpose of the level was to show the beauty of the world we live in and you did so with flying colours! A few jumps were all that was needed in my opinion. I really want to replay this level and admire it once more, great work and congrats on the spotlight- well deserved! =D :star::star::star::star::star: for a beautiful level. http://i.neoseeker.com/mgv/272671-Blackfalcon/671/5/animal0064hb2_display.gif | 2010-05-18 20:47:00 Author: Blackfalcon Posts: 409 |
