Who here draws storyboards?

Archive: 12 posts

Just thought I'd see how many hardcores we have here . Before I make a level I pretty much always draw down a low level-detailed picture or storyboard of the level so when I go to make it I know exactly what goes where, some many call that a bit retentive but I still enjoy doing it.

Anyone else do this or something similar?

I sometimes draw out ideas but not often. I'm able to keep them in my head pretty well.2010-04-14 15:21:00

I usually do this, with "A Curious Sack", all of the "Real World" scenarios were previously drawn in a sheet of paper, as the LittleBigTrivia environment, and then for my "actually without name", I have previously drawn some of my environments in paper.2010-04-15 05:55:00

I keep a notebook handy for when I come up with ideas, and every once in a while I'll storyboard sections of my levels. I have almost all of my dialog written beforehand, as well as general concepts of how the story will progress from one scene to the next.

To answer the original question, however, I rarely do formal storyboards. Not only am I terrible at drawing, I'd much rather spend my time experimenting and "drafting" objects and level sections in create mode.

You just described me.

I think my "Storyboard Challenge" counts as a drawn out storyboard. I don't know, I rather mess around Create Mode until I get an inspiration or something. 2010-04-17 01:54:00

I used to never draw my levels before creating them until I started making area 2 in my level A Bubbly Garden. I was just putting bubbles around randomly for a scenery level like Velcro, but then I thought to myself "Why not make this focused on huge combos?" So I started to draw out everything making those crazy combos. So now, I do sketch out pictures before I create.2010-09-12 00:03:00

Just like many others mentioned, I'd rather fool around in create mode, and I'd probably never be able to interpret my drawings anyway so it'd be a waste. Usually I'll just keep ideas in my head and then just start impulsively building up sections around trying to incorporate those ideas.2010-09-12 02:05:00
