-Introducing Dubstep to the LBPC community!-

For those who don't know, dubstep is a type of music concentrating on its filthy bass-lines, heavy drops, and grimey beats. Dubstep is a underground genre popular in the UK and beginning to grow in America. Basically i just want to show everyone what they're missing...and maybe pick up a few dubheads. So enjoy:

btw, song don't "drop" right away, so give some songs some time, they don't start right away..you'll see what I mean...

Did it occur to you that the people who are not aware of dubstep would in fact be the exact same people unfamiliar with terms such as "filthy basslines" and "grimey beats"?

I could never understand subgenres of electronic music, except things like Ambient and Techno. All of the upbeat stuff sounds like it could be in the same genre to me.2010-04-14 14:06:00

dude, I love dance music and I'm a DJ i perform any range of dance music including Dubstep, and well you haven't really explained it very well.. sorry but that's just the way it is ... not all dubstep contains "filthy bass-lines, heavy drops, and grimey beats" and it's kinda easy to promote these elements because they are the most common, I mean I can come up with a Wobble Bass* (this is the correct term can be easiest described as side to side or high and low) in about 5 minutes it doesn't really show talent as a musician and most dubstep performers try to push the limits a bass line and get out of stereotypes.

"filthy bass-lines, heavy drops, and grimey beats" are also common in other forms of dance music so the defition of dubstep is, again not very strong. I can name some artists that don't use any of these in their pieces.

I could really go on moaning about how dubstep works and it's methodology but i really can't be bothered. So last fact about Dubstep is that it formed in london in early 2000 and formed from the roots of garage music.

But loving the music none the less....

thnx for telling me everything i already know... besides if ur going to get that technical then i guess u'd want to point out all the different sub groups of dubstep...which i didnt feel like writting. i just wanted to show ppl the general dubstep feel. so stop acting like a professional and pointing out the obvious to fellow dubhead... Don't get angry lol. I'm not being professional in anyway. If it was so obivoius why didn't you mention it not all people on this forum understand the concepts of Dance music it just needs alittle more explaination. It wasn't an attack on your knowledge...

btw don't leave "no ****" on my rep...

lastly sub genres isn't really a hard question.

Not for me, sorry.

Dont like artificial music. Well, i dont mind a bit of it, aslong as its mixed in with a hell of a lot of real stuffz.
I myself have no real love in any particular genre of music, but i'm really lovin' this tune at the minute. It's called Rockin' the Suburbs, and it's by Ben Folds.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=As_z0aBQJc4

This version of the song is the only one that has no naughty words in it. Yes, it was used in the (brilliant, if i say so myself) film Over the Hedge.
This is just my opinion. So, you know, don't give me teh grief.

I'm totally feeling the love here. Chill out man, in fairness you did give a really bad description of the genre, and reading pattington_bear's comments it sounded like he was attempting to make a clarification for everyone, not to try and out do you!

Lol, it has rhythm, you can dance to it. Actually dubstep is pretty easy to dance to. Breakcore on the other hand, I kind of appreciate and occasionally listen to it, but I don't think I'd ever wanna hear it at a rave, there is just too much going on for my liking

Ta for the tracks anyways guys, I don't think I knew any of them other than middle of the night

Wait which prick negative-repped me for not liking your music?

Just because i like to taunt and annoy you all doesn't mean you should be doing that...

I never neg-rep anybody :'(

So yeah, whichever **** did this...

Who am i kidding, i don't give a **** about my rep, but still, who did it?

Not really a fan of dubstep. Or the vast majority of techno for that matter. I like a lot of music with electronic elements, but just wubwubwubwubwubthumping beats really bore me. I don't understand the appeal.2010-04-14 22:45:00

Stop abusing the rep system please. We all know it's you and you're starting to **** everyone off. Pattington made the most contributory post in this thread besides the OP, there's no need to act like a **** because he tried to explain dubstep. "Filthy basslines" and "Grimey Beats" is NOT a good explanation of a music genre, that could describe almost any genre of music.

Thanking everyone doesn't help, either.
