For those of you who don't want to bother going to the link (I know I did ), here's the rules, information, deadline, etc..


Now while the title may confuse some, This contest should be one of the easiest contests ever.
Before we begin into the rules first a little definition of a "Platformer Game".

"The platform game (or platformer) is a video game genre characterized by jumping to and from suspended
platforms or over obstacles (jumping puzzles). It must be possible to control these jumps and to fall from
platforms or miss jumps."

Rules

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

?1: No prior levels are allowed, levels submitted MUST be a new level.
?2: The level may not contain anything that is against the LittleBigPlanet Online TOS.
?3: No templates are allowed, be them community templates or built-in templates.
?4: This contest is open to ALL regions.
?5: This contest is for the PSP version of LittleBigPlanet. Please do not create and publish levels on the PS3 version of LittleBigPlanet for the purpose of entering this contest.
?6: Each player may only submit one level for the contest. Any further submissions will automatically be disqualified. Only your first entry will be accepted.
?7: Editing your level, for whatever reason, after publishing is allowed, as long as you do not alter the level majorly.
?8: If you already have a Superstar! Gold Rare Sticker you can still enter the contest and your level may be in the winning 5 but due to you having a sticker already whoever is #6 will obtain the sticker.
?9: Must be published by May 9th. 12PM CST.

How To submit your level.

To make your level eligible for entry you just simply have to reply to this thread, stating both the level name and the PSN ID that it is published under.
Level names are to include the term LBUP somewhere in their title so that searching for entrants to the competition can be found easily.
Please do not include any other characters (brackets, underscores, periods, extra letters etc.) that join immediately with the LBUP term, as that will render the search for that term useless.
So please make sure that there is a space between that term and the rest of your level title.
You will not be disqualified for missing this term or incorrectly/not adding it to your level name.

Final Notes.

All correctly submitted levels will be downloaded from the LBP servers as soon as possible after the deadline, no levels will be downloaded/played before this date.
Judging will be based on a number of factors, namely originality. Stats, such as hearts and star ratings are not taken into effect.
I do not have a timescale as to how long the judging will take, but we aim to complete the judging as soon as possible after the deadline.
We also will not be replying to posts asking if we have seen your level yet. If your level has been submitted correctly, it will be seen.

You only need to log in if you want to post something. Also note that LBW uses the same login information as the PSN, so if you already have a PSN account, then you effectively already have a LBW account. You can just log in using your PSN details, which will be the email address you used to register on PSN, and the account password.		2010-04-14 12:57:00

Seriously, there's no smiley here able to express the evil grin across my face at the moment. I've been hard at work with ideas for a platformer already, and could have finished and released it by now. I am SO glad I didn't.

I think this is gonna be harder than the last one because a platformer attracts more people than the WDSD contest, I think. So there will be more entrants (probably) and Spark and VelcroJonze will probably enter. So, that leaves us with 3 stickers 2010-04-15 13:36:00

I just wanted to reply saying that my entry looks very awesome!
Really, it's something you wouldn't expect me to make.

To make things better, my level took up a lot of materials and obstacles, but so far, only 1/4 of the thermometer is full.
It surprises me because I used many items and stuff and was expecting at least half full.		2010-04-18 03:38:00

I mean, I seriously used maybe 30 or more different materials, and I didn't think that it played much of an effect on my thermo. On PS3, using that many materials would be the death of a level.

That's probably why I didn't run out of much thermo space.
I only used like around 3 total materials for the level.

Dang, I just looked at when the contest ends, just to make sure, and I have a lot of time.
I just finished half way through my level so far, it's awesome.

Kind of a bummer to hear that I'm only halfway done, but it'll be all worth it at the end.

Well, I simply believe developers shouldn't be the ones deciding how good a level is. I think that should be left up to you and I, the players, and the communities we form. If LBPC wants to host awards and give their own prizes, fine by me. But I think it is wrong, especially in a game that's supposed to be so friendly, to create feelings of resentment in the game's world. In other words, let the players decide how it's judged.

Well, now I'm certain that I will miss the deadline. These past days I couldn't work on my level as much as I needed, so it's best not to rush it and publish it next week or the one after, once it's done and polished. At least, the contest has given me the push to go back at creating, and the idea of designing a platform-only experience was refreshing. So even if I'm not participating, I'm grateful for the inspiration.

I won't complain about this extension because it may allow me to publish my upcoming level on time. I understand the purpose of the extension but I also understand that creators who already submitted their levels may be upset about it, and rightly so. Well if I'd known this would happen I'd have spent another week working on my level before uploading, and I wouldn't have stayed up 'til 4am on a work day to finish it.
