The tanks factoryonturenio
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_YJHQnk-6NJY/S8TeaqqBx_I/AAAAAAAAAJQ/NxZRm8MEWVk/Una%20foto_8.jpgMake your way through this long time ago abandoned factory. But... was it really abandoned? Be careful, as there is a dangerous secret ahead.

EDIT: MrMemodrix has recorded a video of the level

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ufc5ULT490A

THANKS SO MUCH!!!

In this level you begin in an elevator, but you don't remember how you got there.

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_YJHQnk-6NJY/S8TeaXSiJrI/AAAAAAAAAJE/txvIhy5V3uw/Una%20foto_5.jpg

The elevator takes you to an old factory, but soon you realise that there are some machines still working

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_YJHQnk-6NJY/S8Teau6DY3I/AAAAAAAAAJM/NA_kUVKavxQ/Una%20foto_7.jpg

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_YJHQnk-6NJY/S8TeaqqBx_I/AAAAAAAAAJQ/NxZRm8MEWVk/Una%20foto_8.jpg

In the level, I have tried that the player has to go forth and also back again, not just walking forward all time. You will also have to change of layer to avoid obstacles.

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_YJHQnk-6NJY/S8TexuXPIBI/AAAAAAAAAJU/jbpCTTpTMuA/Una%20foto_9.jpg

There are several puzzles, which are easy to solve, I hope, and many things get broken as you touch them (I love the levels that gets completely destroyed after playing, and I have tried to follow this phisolophy)

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_YJHQnk-6NJY/S8TexjVSjWI/AAAAAAAAAJY/xFuNeEqOLKk/Una%20foto_10.jpg

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_YJHQnk-6NJY/S8Tex3eE0cI/AAAAAAAAAJc/SwvU_ic2h50/Una%20foto_11.jpg

As you go further, you realise that you have found a tank factory, and you decide to stop it

http://lh5.ggpht.com/_YJHQnk-6NJY/S8TeyN3QnmI/AAAAAAAAAJg/zxqSYh_gN-0/Una%20foto_12.jpg

Nevertheless it won't be a trivial task

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_YJHQnk-6NJY/S8TeyFGdvCI/AAAAAAAAAJk/QE-Dfnz3row/Una%20foto_13.jpg

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_YJHQnk-6NJY/S8TfAB9jkcI/AAAAAAAAAJw/IxlwfgU41_U/Una%20foto_15.jpg

In fact, you will have to face the ultimate tank, developed to conquer LBP

http://lh6.ggpht.com/_YJHQnk-6NJY/S8TfAbGUBGI/AAAAAAAAAJ0/oLQl0dLENjE/Una%20foto_16.jpg

Those of you that have played my level The equilateral tank (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=23790-The-equilateral-tank) may notice that the final boss is almost the same. That's right, and in fact this level began as an improvement of the visual aspect of the other level. Nevertheless I have performed so many modifications that I have decided to publish it as a new level, and tag the older as deprecated (maybe I will even delete it, but I don't know what to do to respect the people that hearted the level...)

Hope you enjoy the level and give me some feedback.

Hey, onturenio. Played through your level twice this morning and here I am with feedback. Woot!

Cool Things:

- I really like the decrepit vibe the whole factory has. The fact that it's literally falling apart gives it a lot of personality, which I think is awesome.
- It seems like so many little details are together in the right place that really enhance the atmosphere. The machinery in the background making triangle blocks, then tanks - great stuff
- The whole level has a really good flow to the platforming
- I LOVE the way the level criss-crosses behind itself as new paths open up. Ingenious.

Suggestions:

- The columns in the very beginning that rise and fall are very easy to get past. All you really need to do is hold right on the analog stick. I know there's not much overhead clearance, but modifying these somehow so they required timing to pass would enhance this section in my book
- After the part where you first come out from behind the scenery (where you just miss the flaming cylinder behind you), if you go left instead of right you fall back down to the broken lift/spinning platforms and have to climb up all over again. I like to explore levels to the greatest extent that I can, and being able to fall here seems like it's punishing exploration. If you could add a small wall or something to avoid falling off, that would be cool
- There's a part where you need to pull down a grab ceiling to gain access to a Paintinator gun to hit a switch. You can just as easily use the fallen grab ceiling to jump off of and hit the switch without it. Since you lose the gun immediately afterwards, is the gun really necessary?
- At the part where the villain reveals himself at the spinning platforms, it's not clear that it's safe to jump down to proceed. I basically just had to take a leap of faith. Could you add a visual cue here somehow directing the player where to go next?
- Like I said, I played through this level twice. The first time through I beat it with no problems. The second time through I encountered a bug - At the final tank, I took out both sides with the Paintinator gun. When I went to flip it, I ended up flipping it twice accidentally. When it flipped over the second time, the whole tank disintegrated , and the path to proceed remained closed. I'm not sure what happened, but it's something you might want to look into

Bottom Line: I had a really great time with this level, 5 stars

I second this. I didn't know where to go exactly. Also ended up doing a leap of faith down.

Other than that though, I had no problems with the level. Love how the factory falls apart in places & how you did the machines that change the blocks & triangles. 5/5 stars. Good job.

Yeah, my intention is that the level is not too hard, but this part is especially easy. I'll separate them, and make some of them electrified in the next update

Well, I know what you mean, and in fact I thought it several times. Nevertheless it is part of the atmosphere. I mean, you are supposed to reach that part with the yellow elevator that gets broken in the very beginning. After the explosion, you have to found an "alternative way". The way must be open, as it is supposed to be the "original way", when the factory was not so old. I don't know i you know what i mean. Nevertheless I'll think about it...

- There's a part where you need to pull down a grab ceiling to gain access to a Paintinator gun to hit a switch. You can just as easily use the fallen grab ceiling to jump off of and hit the switch without it. Since you lose the gun immediately afterwards, is the gun really necessary?

Really??? I didn't know you can reach the switch without the paintator. That's a bug, obviously. I'll modify the geometry as soon as I get online again. Thanks

Yeah, I know what you mean. That was the last part I made before publishing the level, and I made it too fast, as I was eager . I'll try to improve that too.

- Like I said, I played through this level twice. The first time through I beat it with no problems. The second time through I encountered a bug - At the final tank, I took out both sides with the Paintinator gun. When I went to flip it, I ended up flipping it twice accidentally. Yes, I know that bug That happens because when you flip the tank, several contact bombs are emitted inside the tank. This is only to improve the visual aspect of the final explosion of the tank. Nevertheless, if you flip the tank twice, the movement make the bombs to explode accidentally. I have to think how to fix that, but I think it should not be very difficult. Maybe if I use simple bombs, instead of contact bombs... yeah, that should work.

Bottom Line: I had a really great time with this level, 5 stars

It's great to know that . Thank you for your so detailed feedback and for finding bugs.

Thank you MrTran, I really appreciate you liked the level. I'll try to modify that part, as I did it too fast and few carefully.

BTW, I have played you level again, I found it much better, you was right about the boss... I go to you thread to leave some more feedback

Well, I have already performed several modifications taking into account your suggestions

In the beginning I have added some fire in some columns. Now it's not trivial to pass, although still quite easy. In my opinion, the difficult of a level must be from very easy to hard. If you begin a level with a hard challenge, many players will abandon the level without giving it a chance.

I have modified the geometry of the area where you have to use the paintator. Now (I hope) you can't reach the switch without it. It's important to force the player to use the paintator, as this puzzle is in fact a clue about how to use the it, together with a switch, to flip the final tank (looks that many people have problems finding out how to flip the tank).

I have also modified the part when the villain talks. Before this modification, the explosions that reveals the new path was not clear, as it was triggered at same time that the conversation. Now it is impossible to trigger the explosion before reading the conversation. Furthermore, the hole, and well as the explosions, are much larger, and it is impossible not to realize that something has happened there

I had no time to modify the bug in the boss, but I'll fix it soon.

I just played this and I have to say on the part with the villain above I still didn't get exactly where I was supposed to go. In fact I jumped into the electric things about 20 times lol. I know the explosives happened there but I didn't really pay attention and my mind only later said to me you know those explosions happened there? Have a look.. and sure enough that was the way! A light coming on or camera focus on it might help make it a point of interest. The boss was insane I thought, I don't mind a challenge but there was so many ways to die! I liked it don't get me wrong but the rotating plasma balls seemed too harsh, maybe make it 2 instead of 3. I have to laugh at the start, too easy? With the added fire I thought it was too harsh! It wasn't so much the fact the blocks were on fire but the block behind comes down so fast, you have very little time to get it right, if you even get singed your guaranteed squashed. I guess it's personal preference but I died a good few times, I had to replay once, which isn't the best way to start a level! Also when you push the block to the side to go in behind it a fire block rolls down as you head to the right, I thought that was kind of annoying, maybe put a red light on the fire block so it's less invisible and stealthy. I now it makes a noise but it's not enough to make the player think oh crap better get out of here. Maybe I was just playing really bad though! Other than that it was very nice, the only other things that stood out to me was the text. The English wasn't perfect which considering it isn't your first language, understandable. I took down some but it's kind of hard to say which exact speech box as there is quite a few!

Triangle machine text box bit should say something more like(in this part of the sentence, I only took down bits):

somehow this machine is capable of breaking metal blocks into triangles
But.. what for?

Vehicle part:

converted into a kind of vehicle

Villain:

my factory(you said mi factory)...you belong(not sure but I think you said something else instead of you)...for my latest tank(think you said last tank, you can say last but I think latest is more suitable unless they plan on never making another tank which I didn't get that vibe)...little sack, looks like your trip finishes here(little sack, looks like you trip finish here)...into my trap(not sure)....now I will go(rocket part)

Sorry about that jumble I can't even tell what parts I was referring to very well and I wrote it down! Just have a look through villains speeches and you might find the parts I mentioned.

I really enjoyed it other than those things I mentioned. Cool level!

Hi OneEyedBanshee, and thank you very much for so detailed review

Ok, I see. I have to think how to make it more apparent. Perhaps with a magick mouth...

The boss was insane I thought, I don't mind a challenge but there was so many ways to die! I liked it don't get me wrong but the rotating plasma balls seemed too harsh, maybe make it 2 instead of 3.

Well, that depends on the player. Me (after having played the level 1000 times) find it trivial, and can beat it in 2 minutes without dying at all Personally the three plasma balls are one of the things I like most of the boss.

Ok, that's a horrible new. I definitelly have to modify that aspect to make it easier.

I think I'm going to modify that part, with a huge explosions that blocks the returning path, as suggested Elijah... I have to think about it.

Yeah, my English is lame I'll check again all speeches taking more care. Thanks for the warning.

Pretty pictures! *plays*
As usual I'll note stuff as I play then summarise.

- Broken door piston is cool. Like a glitch on purpose.
- Getting burnt then moving without control and getting squished is a nice combo of death.
- Heavy block checkpoint point not glued down.
- How did you do activate the second broken part of the white roof to get the paint gun (logic wise)? sensor switch?
- Left paintinator in boss room not glued down.
- Tank room looks cool in the dark!
- I love the visible logic. I would replace dark matter with another material as I don't think it fits the abandoned/broken factory theme.

I liked how you played with scale in the background, lovely lighting, stickering, sound effects, visuals, etc. All great.
Had no problems gameplay wise, a fun level.
5/5, would like to see more of this story/style.

I have already updated the level.

- I have corrected the grammar (thanks again OneEyedBanshee, I really appreciate it).

- I have modified the beginning to make it easier (hope not too easy) and I have also added a small surprise once you pass this part

- I have added a magic mouth with camera after the explosion in the villain zone. Now it's impossible not to notice the hole lol

Still have to think how to improve the area where you go behind the gears and get outside. I'm thinking in a large explosions that blow up the gears and block the returning path xD

Finally, someone notice it! haha, I was bit disappointed as none commented it. I'm quite happy with the effect

- Getting burnt then moving without control and getting squished is a nice combo of death.

Yeah, I agree. Nevertheless I don't want people to find dificult this part, as it is in the very beginning. As I said, I have modified this part, separating the columns. Now it's really easy.

- Left paintinator in boss room not glued down.

Thanks for the warning, I have to fix them

- How did you do activate the second broken part of the white roof to get the paint gun (logic wise)? sensor switch?

Exact. First one is grab sensor, and second one position sensor in the left.

- Tank room looks cool in the dark!
- I love the visible logic. I would replace dark matter with another material as I don't think it fits the abandoned/broken factory theme.

Awesome idea! This part of the level comes from an old version. I still have to work on this part to improve the atmosphere according to the rest of the level.

Hey, I couldn't finish your level.
LOL blame my noobiness, but I got stuck in the part where you grab the ceiling to activate the switch but it falls on you. (after the path with gears.)
I just can't seem to reach it.

Good:
-Nice atmosphere.
-AWESOME VISUALS.
-Good gameplay.
Bad:
-A bit hard.
-Really hard to find. I kept typing 'the tanks factory' but yours wasn't there. The only way I could find it was by typing @onturenio.

Anyways, :star::star::star::star::star: since everyone but me managed to finish it, so it's my fault.

Hahaha, it's ok, thank you for the 5 starts anyway. It's not that hard. You have to climb to the left, and then it falls completely. Then, you can use that piece to reach the paintator. And with the paintator you can reach the switch. You should try it again, so you can know the final boss, which is the best part of the level 2010-04-17 14:16:00

UPDATED

I have performed several modifications in the final tank:
- I have corrected the bug that Elijah found. Now the tanks does not explode until you beat it
- I have improved the visual aspect, as commented by midnight_heist. Exactly I have modified the look of the tank using different materials and stickers according to the atmosphere of the rest of the level. I have also included some decorative elements non essential for the boss, and used stickers to hide the dark matter in the logic elements
- And more importantly, I have modified the system to flip the tank. I have enlarged the switch and the platform. Now it's much easier to flip. I have also intensified the spring. Now the tanks flips in the air several times before falling. This makes the effect of flipping the tank much nicer
- I have also reduced the number of times you have to hit the tank to beat it. I hope this will make it easier, and will increase the number of people that are able to finish the level (I'm tagged hard)

This is the new look:

Hey Onturenio, I tried your level today. I really enjoyed it! I think your choice of materials is good, as it goes well with the atmosphere. The gameplay is good, and I like the idea of everything falling apart. The only problem I encountered is the heavy block you have to pull. Do you think you could make it a little lighter? Because I think I gave my sackboy a concussion from slaming his head on the floor while pulling it out..... Nice level!!

Could you give me feedback on my LBP Paint Factory? Thanks.

Saw a bit of darkmatter to the right of the top rotating electric things. (after the second elevator breaks)

Nice fixes. Cutscene cam on hole, and tank flip switch makes it heaps more awesome.
Maybe too easy now.

Hehehe, well that's the idea. I mean, it is not supposed to be a challenge, but the idea is that it's a really heavy block that you find it by chance after the elevator broken. Is something like that you have to make yourself an alternative way to proceed the rest of the level.

You didn't comment anything about the boss. Some people says it's too hard, some others (like me) think it's too easy. Could you please tell me your opinion about it? I'd really appreciate it

Thank you midnight for playing again to check the modifications. I have already fixed that dark matter part . I'll publish later today, with further small modifications in some areas.

And regarding the difficult of the boss... uff, it's really hard. My opinion is just like yours, too easy. Nevertheless people have commented in the level that it's too hard, and in fact I have been tagged hard. By the way, people seems to play less now, so I thing the hard tag is scaring people for playing the level . Perhaps the problem is that first time you play the level you may find difficult to cross between the pink plasma balls. Nevertheless, once you learn, defeating the boss without dying is really easy, so maybe the problem is that people don't give a chance to the level. I can't do anything to avoid that

Hey I just played your level and I enjoyed very very very very much!

I really like the visuals and all the different parts where you see the tanks being built were done very well. I also thought the end boss was great and very good looking. I liked the mysterious atmosphere behind the place.

It's really hard to give any suggestions as I can see from reading the posts you have fixed everything. I actually didn't find anything to complain about. If I was super picky I would say it was hard to jump over the rotating plasma balls during the boss fight but honestly I didn't really care.

Great job! Sorry for the lack of feedback but I just love the level the way it is.

Got to playing this, and had a great time with it. Nice use of multiple layers, the paintanator, and good visuals too.
There was some nice dialouge and platforming too.

My only real criticism is that the boss fight at the end was a little tricky, but it's not a big problem. Oh, and I broke the bouncy thing where you tear the roof down to grab a paintanator, Don't know how, I just bounced a lot.

Hey onturenio! Thanks for a great level!

I loved how everything broke when you touched it. I especially liked the part where you have to reach the paint gun where the ceiling breaks twice.

The visuals were great, making it feel like you were in a factory.

The conveyor belt sequences were nicely done, reminiscent of the Logic Pack introduction level.

Your use of logic was my favourite part of the level, particularly the visible logic at the boss.

The boss itself was very challenging and another highlight of the level.

I gave the level :star::star::star::star: and a heart!

Thanks for the feedback on my level!

Hmm... and again another factory level. How orginal.
Bad:
-Story: you should tell more about it. What kind of memories evil guy erased? Why does HE want to conquer LBP? You should make a seguel that tells about the same thing at the time BEFORE this level.
-I got stuck: after evil guy was shown up and turned bridge off and opened way down. Propably there was a checkpoint down there and there was no way for me to move back up.
Good:
+Gameplay: Puzzles and obstacles weren't copied and that's exactly what I appreciate.
+Visuals: Were not bad at all. Elevator at the beginning was a little lame but otherwise visuals were better than okay.
Critic: :star::star::star::star: The tanks factory is enjoyable level what may get little ''old''. If you want cool gameplay this level is definetly worth of playing, but if the most important thing is good story like in fantasy movies, this will end up little too alternative.

For some reason I had not noticed your post until now... Thank you for the criticism, I appreciate it, and I'll try to take it into account.

I'm not sure where you got stuck... Did you notice the explosion that opens a hole when you jump to the first platform in the bridge? It opens a new way just down the electrified bridge. You have to go down and re-activate the moving platforms, so you can finally cross the bridge and get the final boss (which is the best part of the level. If you didn't see it, you could try again and let me know you opinion )

Why didn't you like the elevator? How disappointing! I'm so proud of the special effects: how it is broken, the intermittent lights and door once it has crashed... Do you mean the visual aspect? Do you have any idea how I could improve that?

Regarding the story... yeah, perhaps I have to develop it little bit more. It is nevertheless further explained once you cross the bridge, so maybe you didn't notice it. I'm planing a second part, but it won't be released (if so) until Summer.

Thanks for the feedback

Hey dude! I have reviewed your level, and really I have to say is very good, details of which are things like breaking the door and the explosion that is just before the start of the tour is a good idea, the machinery is well designed, and the originality that you put to make this building a level well made, fun, dynamic and keeps you in doubt that more will, we have taken some photos my wife and I and you we have posted, I like the changes light, music and amplitude with the cameras, making each detail look great, the enemy has a certain complexity that makes it interesting, that time did a jigsaw in your mind to wonder what now where you have to shoot ? but well, the door that helped you come back I found interesting. We liked very much and have a very good job at that level, I have given :star::star::star::star:.

Congratulations is a good level

After two months offline I have updated the level. I have published a copyable version of the final boss which is blocked. You get the key to copy it when you finish this level.

BTW I'm finishing just now the sequel of the level, which is longer and with more gameplay. I'm plnning to publish it this week. But I would like people to help me in the testing of the level before to publish. So if some one of you is interested in beta-test the level, add me as friend and I'll show you the level.

Also, maybe someone is good creating characters and wants to help creating the evil for my level. I would give credit in the description of the level

Thank you very much!

Your boss is undisputably awesome, but the level could use a bit of graphical polish, and the gameplay isn't that original(except for that awesome boss)

Hey, I'd love to help make some characters and test for you!

Exactly, the game play is too short and not original. I have taken care of that in the next level. I'll send you a friend request just now, ok?2010-08-16 11:21:00
