a problem...

Archive: 16 posts

I want my little 11 year old brother to use my psn for many purposes such as DLC. However, what if my friends invite him to do stuff? I need some kind of way to differentiate between me and him with my friends and also published levels.

Thanks in advance!

If one account buys DLC every account on the PS3 gets the DLC.

Simples, problem solved...

In the description of published levels you could put,"my little brother made this" or something like this. For the friends problem make sure one of you were a costume item all the time, like your brother could wear a baseball cap, and you can tell your friends that means that your little brother playing.2010-04-13 18:08:00

when your little brother is playing make it automatically refuse invites, and shouldn't this be in the help section?2010-04-13 19:39:00

You can only auto reject join requests, there's no option to auto reject invites.

join, invites, i meant that. But can't your brother perform the simple task of refusing to join?

You could always use this trick: https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=24961-How-to-play-comunity-levels-offline2010-04-13 21:36:00

One option is to make a new PSN account, he will have all the DLC but will have to re-do the story mode. Another option is to set the phrase that appears above your PSN tag in your friend's list to "little brother playing" or something similar.2010-04-14 02:47:00

You need to be careful with this. Technically, it's content-sharing, frowned upon by Sony. Only the account that initially purchases the DLC has the sole licence to use it. Any other account that uses another account's DLC is breaking some EULA somewhere.

Actually no. It's not. It's completely different. It is allowed.

I would suggest doing also what silverpanther suggested, making the comment say that you are not playing. I have little brothers and sisters who play online sometimes, so I have them put "ImNotPlaying" in the comment box and it helps others differentiate between me and my brothers and sisters. Also like x-frogboy-x said, having a costume that is yours and yours only makes it easier for others to tell also.2010-04-14 16:38:00

I would recommend creating a PSN sub-account for each sibling who wants to play LBP (with yourself as the Master Account holder). This will give them each their *own* PSN user name, profile, and "moon", while permitting you (or your parents) to place restrictions on what they are able to do. For example, you can restrict their text/voice chat ability, and permit *only* the Master Account holder to use your "wallet" at the PSN store (stopping them from making purchases on their own). Note, however, that if *you* make a purchase using your Master Account, the Add-On can be used by everyone else under that account -- you need only buy an expansion pack once per "family."

In our house, only Mom and Dad have the Master Accounts, while the minor children (ages 9 and 11) have parental-restricted sub-accounts.

Ah...no.

Account sharing is wht it says, Sharing an account , meaning letting someone in another PS3 use an account originally created in another PS3.

DLC bough in a console is usable for any account in that console as the owner bough the content thus it belongs to "his PS3" technically, any use of it on as many accounts as they want is completly legal as long as its on the same PS3.

So, what you're saying is that ALL user profiles on my PS3 (some of which are my friend's that he signs in with HIS PSN account) can use MY DLC without fear?
If this is indeed true, it seems very odd - but helpful nevertheless.

Thinking about it, there's no real advantage to Sony throwing their hands up about this. For instance, my friend would not be able to edit any DLC levels created on my PS3 if he saved them off and took them home, so technically HE would not be able to gain any advantage. I suppose Sony is being fair then. Cooloies, I'm happy!
