The Unofficial LittleBigPlanet Create Guide **RELEASED** (Unfinished version)

Archive: 26 posts

As you can tell by the title, this is an unofficial guide to creating on LittleBigPlanet!
I have been making this for a few weeks now and so far I have allot of tutorials for people to enjoy! Version 1 and 2 are PDF files, the new versions are a website to make it easier to update and change. (I removed the list as it has started messing up the HTML code of this post)

You can read and/or download the unfinished version HERE:

+ Every weekend I will be posting a youtube video create tutorial on this link: http://youtube.com/user/TheMrMalro or find them on here: http://littlebigplanetcreateguide.weebly.com/

http://littlebigplanetcreateguide.weebly.com/ (V3)

http://www.scribd.com/doc/30357321/T...reate-guide-v2 (V2)

http://www.scribd.com/doc/30035838/L...l-Create-Guide (V1)

As you can see by the last page from the V2 or newer, this guide is not finished I will be working on it every time I get some free time. As I have GCSE's and coursework to do. Please suggest below of what I should do and add to the guide.

Thanks!

I locked the other one and moved this one to Ideas and Projects.

As for the project, you offer to provide a guide, but have you actually made anything yet? What does this offer that hasn't been made before?

Basically its going to have allot of tutorials and glitches and explanations in so they don't have to go searching through forums and they could just have this one guide ready to open on their Desktop, Laptop, PSP, PS3, mobile phone or anything that can read PDF file types.

Read the main post for what it has in so far. Thanks.

May we see a page of the guide? How in depth are you going? Because along with comph's question a lot of stuff has been posted on lbpc and this might be unnecessary.2010-04-14 04:02:00

The guide contains pictures taken on LittleBigPlanet to show how its done and all the settings with the pistons and things like that. I made it as noob talk as possible but I will be doing an advanced section for more advanced creators but first i want to get the easy stuff out of the way. Any suggestions what I could put on it anyone? I have ideas but there may be a few I miss or forget.

Perhaps, but having all the most useful stuff in a single guide could be very useful to new creators.

A video? I thought you were planning to make this in a PDF format?

But, sure, it would be interesting to see what you've got so far.

It might be worth your while to scan through the Help! forum, and see what sort of things come up the most often. Ones that I've noticed in the past are:-

Confusion over different switch settings, i.e. on/off, directional, one-shot, etc.
Making objects disappear without using dissolve, e.g. demitters, creature brains
Vehicles with controllable speed and direction, e.g. remote three-way, double-bolting
Use of logic gates in practical applications

Plus a section on what to do when you've finished your level, perhaps including tips on beta-testing, advertsiting, and publishing tricks to get your level noticed.

OK! This is it. Tomorrow I will be releasing the UNFINISHED version tomorrow! I just need to finish a few things here and their but I will post it up on a website that lets you read and download PDF files. I would appreciate if no one claimed it is their own. That has happened to some of my projects before, its not nice.

The reason I am releasing it now is so you can give me feedback on it and tell me what's missing. I will do a quick scan through it before I post it to correct some mistakes but please post all problems and suggestions below!

Thanks! I hope everyone enjoys the guide I will post tomorrow some time.

Please leave all feedback below!

Very well done, although maybe you could make subdivisions of it for other more specific things... ie: a whole guide on building advanced vehicles. maybe you should reach out to the community for people to help create one on there own niche. None the less very well done.2010-04-17 03:01:00

I just browsed through a little, but I noticed this: the information you have about keping the thermometer down is partially incorrect. Yes, the more materials you use, the more the thermometer fills, but materials fill the materials thermometer, which is typically not the thermometer that will max out. For more information check out this guide here:
https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=16840-Comprehensive-Thermo-Overview-and-Guide

Just doing my part to debunk a common myth.

Hmmm...Not bad, but your grammar can be improved. I mean, there are going to be so many people viewing this guide, you'd want it to look more professional, wouldn't you?

Also, the information on the switches wasn't anything I didn't know, and I'm a new creator. They weren't covered very well. You might want to give out information that you can't already find in the in-game tutorials and be a bit more detailed. The planning section wasn't too bad though.

Now, do you plan to elaborate more on 'Starting to Create Your Level'? I would have liked some info on where exactly to start. There should be some advice on being creative and the do's and don'ts of level-making, too, but that's just my opinion.

Overall...Not bad so far, but there are a lot of things that can easily be improved.

I find this guide to be a little unprofessional, something thats not going to help woo the new creators to look at it. Also, the picture quality in the first few examples is pretty bad.2010-04-21 21:40:00
