| Do you guys like the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy series? If yes, what book, or any other of Douglas Adams books? I've read the first three books, but I also liked the TV series of it, if only for the hilarious animations of "the guide". I've also read his two Dirk Gently novels which were pretty good. And, yes, that's why my PSN ends in 42. The extraneous zero is because (at least in the UK) PSN names must be at least six characters. And you didn't read the fourth book, "Mostly Harmless"? | What operating system do you guys run? Do you like it? Would you ever want to upgrade/downgrade it? If so, why? Yay, questions! Running Vista on this laptop, XP on the other laptop, the most recent Ubuntu on one network server, and a fairly old version of CentOS on the other network server. I'd quite like to 'upgrade' the CentOS to Ubuntu (just for consistency), and downgrade Vista to XP (cos XP was better IMHO), but I'm too lazy. Wow, never heard of CentOS or Ubuntu. :o I'm with you on the XP > Vista. My vista hates everything and everyone. Months as a mod have made him beaten, grizzled. He is determined to enforce the rules no matter what the cost. mrsupercomputer has been Comphermc's partner for most of their career. However, tensions ran high when the new guy, rtm223, was assigned the role of Comphermc's partner, placing mrsupercomputer with the fellow newcomer of BabyDoll. mrsupercomputer and rtm henceforth try to outdo each other to be the bane of Comphermc's existence. BabyDoll, the token female moderator, takes up a motherly role despite being the new guy... or girl. She treats criminals with respect, never resorting to tactics such as unleashing the banhammah upon an entire forum of the city. Her warm-hearted nature pits her against Comphermc, who just can't get along with nobody. Aya042 is the tech guy, creating new and crazy gadgets that every Mod Squad needs. His inventions come in handy each and every week, Friday nights at 8. schm0 is the even newer guy, who boots rtm out of comph's partner position, causing the grizzly comph to have an even newer officer to train and demoralize. rtm and mrsuprcomputer, former sworn enemies, are assigned as partners- and swear revenge on schm0 and return to fighting over who gets to annoy comphermc more. The Mod Squad has it's work cut out for them. In addition to Cartman's constant heckling, a series of crimes take place around LBPCentral each and every week. From the bombing of the Cool Levels district to the Peanut Smugglers down by the docks, The Mod Squad will need to band together to fight the trolls and spam threatening LBPCentral. We have plenty of "spies" so we don't always need to be everywhere I go out of my way to check on threads that have titles that suggest they might get out of hand, and threads that are seeing a lot of action (lots of action means people might be getting "over excited"). I enjoy a good plot, but I also enjoy levels that are pure platforming fun and also those that are low on platforming but are visual treats. I also think that you don't make a plot too deep unless you're committed to follow it through to the conclusion... er... so the short answer is NO. Definitely not. (I was sniped by BabyDoll) No, there are plenty of abstract levels that work completely fine without a story. Even MM admitted that a story was sort of "patched on" to their levels that were included in the game. But there are also other levels that integrate the story so well that the level wouldn't stand on it's own without it. It then becomes another facet of the level itself. Wooot! | I know people asked early on how you became mods, but I would like to ask a slightly different question. What was your initial reaction (aside from answering) when you were asked to be a mod? Shock... and I closed the e-mail straight away and couldn't open it again for the rest of the day... lol... That disgusted by my writing, huh Babydoll? My invitation wasn't terribly exciting. I was chatting with CC, and he says, "Hey, would you want to be a mod?" The end. See, not very exciting. My reaction was plain excitement. Lol.. no. Just astounded that the staff knew I existed and would even consider someone like me. I was honored and consider it a privelge. I wish I could put in more time on the site, to be honest. What I'd really like to do in the future is help coordinate efforts here with those in LBP2 and LBP.me. Sounds exactly like my reaction when I was asked elsewhere, Babydoll. (With that though I'll quit making it appear as though I wish to flaunt being a mod on other sites and go back to being the new user still adjusting. | When I was in kindergarten, there was a restroom connected directly to the classroom for kids to use. One day, I went into the restroom and pulled out a set of those plastic vampire teeth that they sell at costume shops, I looked into the mirror and said "This is gonna be great!" as I placed the teeth into my mouth. Moments later, the restroom door burst open and I jumped out and gave a mighty roar! The rest of the class, clearly confused, just stared at me in silence. After a couple moments, my teacher said "Brent, please give those teeth to me and put your name on the board." I was completely devastated and still have nightmares about it to this day. So, my question... Have you ever had what you thought was a brilliant idea but it turned out to be a dud? Many. MANY. But one that was similar to yours... we had show and tell in kindergarten (we call it prep here) and I had a cool pirate costume my mum had just made for me. It wasn't the striped tee-shirt and ripped pants but the kind like Captain Hook - velvet coat, frilled cuffs and boots and puffy pants - and eye patch, of course. Anyhow, I wore my costume for show and tell this one day and, coming from a theatrical family, I gave them a few lines of 'in-character' dialogue which may or may not have included a few threats because one boy jumped me and tackled me to the ground yelling "kill the pirate!" and then the rest of the class joined and it was a complete melee. I was dragged out, crying, from the bottom of the stack of bodies and didn't even get some consoling from that horrid teacher. I hated that school. I've had this happen several times, usually around 9:30-10:00 PM EST. CC was online once and I asked him and it usually occurs when the forum is going through a DB refresh/backup or something like that. All requests to the server are temporarily blocked until it's complete. At least, I think that's the error message you're getting. Also, if it didn't work, you could have cc take away its mod powers and then you could delete it. That sounds like a lot of work to test a pointless theory.
