Hey there fellow happy-gadders,

Did you ever feel there should have been more levels to Story Mode?
Ever long back to run around in the English garden again, but then with some new levels?
We certainly did and therefore we created:
Lady Bug Level 1: "The Gardens"

As the title says it is set in The Gardens (from Story mode), but with a little twist. The King & Queen have migrated (and they took Humpty with them) and management of The Gardens is handed over to the Lady Bug (lady bug, lady bug, fly away home, your house is on fire, your children have gone..)!

You can expect most of The Gardens more common objects and obstacles in this level. There is also a castle and a race, that should feel like its actually the 4th additional chapter of this part of the story. Jump, jump, jump and a little grabbing and swinging. No 'monster', only some ghosts, but also with the same twist.

The level has a few distinct 'phases' you can run through, and for the carefull player also a few hidden suprises (but we won't spoil those here):

It's not very hard, so please give it a try and let us know what you think!

Wow - I can't believe this has no comments yet. Clarie and I really loved this level. It has some great visuals, I love the way you've incorporated the mm style, plotline and objects. You've managed to make this feel familiar and new all at the same time.

If I was you I would make a new thread for this but do F4F. Go play some other peoples F4F levels then they will comment on yours. This level deserves to be seen, but you need to do a little playing of other levels to get this one noticed. Once you have a good 10+ replies people tend to visit your thread more. Releasing 2 levels together can sometimes put people off too. feels like you're just dumping your back catalogue into the forum.

Good luck promoting this one - you've got talent. You and KZQ can compete for best mm sequels

Played this before, I'll post a more detailed review this time.
Nice to see you hid that bit of dark matter. The flower could be a little bigger to cover it all though. I would just raise them until they are out of sight.

- Some of the small grass sponges arn't glued down.
- On the second windmill, if you jump down there are 2 flaming arrows pointing down. Why are they there?
- Found a secret in the sky this time! Can still see dark matter behind the star cutout, just shrink it.
- Dissolve could be stickered better. You could use the same wood as the ground with a brain, then kill the brain and therefore killing the dissolve. Or even a thing layer in front would work.
- Instead of having to wait for the lady bugs, I would have a directional grab switch so when you grabbed them, they would pull you up.
- The switches would be better with activation sounds as well as the lights.

Nice level. It does feel like the gardens, just with lady bugs. 4/5
Check out my level (in sig) if you have the time.

The challenge i've published here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=25274-Lady-Bug-Challenge-1-Underwater-Maze&p=437626&viewfull=1#post437626) is actually a part of this level, as the challenges in Story Mode are. I thought it would be a good idea to post them after each other. Tells you what I know.

Nice level. It does feel like the gardens, just with lady bugs. 4/5Thank you very much midnight_heist. As you can see I took your comments from LBW to heart and changed a couple of things in the level. I'll try to adjust some of the points you've made here in my next re-publish.

I've reached the maximum size of that sticker. I'll probably raise them.
Some of the small grass sponges arn't glued down.
There not supposed to be.
On the second windmill, if you jump down there are 2 flaming arrows pointing down. Why are they there?
To show you the way you are going to die (really, not kidding). Could you see them without jumping down?
Found a secret in the sky this time! Can still see dark matter behind the star cutout, just shrink it.
I'll try to, thanks for that.
Dissolve could be stickered better. You could use the same wood as the ground with a brain, then kill the brain and therefore killing the dissolve. Or even a thing layer in front would work.
I've tried all black an a few other things before. I'll have a look at it again, thanks.
Instead of having to wait for the lady bugs, I would have a directional grab switch so when you grabbed them, they would pull you up.
Great idea, will incorporate next time.
The switches would be better with activation sounds as well as the lights.
Another great suggestion, will do

Okay, I've taken the comments to heart and did some editing today. The level is republished and feels like version 1.1 to me. Here's the skinny:
the visible dark matter to the left of the hills (when jumping down, which was stickered before) is now completely removed
a couple more ladybugs now have wings (in home town that dangle from the trees)
on almost every cloud there are now score bubbles to be found
added a break effect to the lock and a squeak effect to the bridge
changed all of the ladybug winches from proximity to grab switches
shrunk the dark matter behind the star sticker trigger so that it is no longer visible from the tilted angle
re-stickered the dissolve materials with photo's of the surrounding structure
tweaked the wind mill toss
tweaked the platform on which the wobbly grass stands (in front of the second wind mill)
made the key to the unlock-challenge wobble in the air
added an additional light by the score board (in another depth)
added a few 'play things' to the beginning of the level
added an 'instruction' when entering the castle
added intuitive sounds to the two way switches in the castle

And for everyone who cares to check it out (again) I've also added a second price for getting 100% objects to the score board.

I played this yesterday, it was awesome, especially for a first level. The gameplay and bubble placement was nice. I liked all of the lady-bug prizes throughout the level, and I do like MM made objects. The ladybug characters were cute and I liked the use of the damage crack at the hill area. Overall, this was a great start for a great creator, keep up the great work.

I rated it :star::star::star::star::star: and hearted it.

This level is now officially LBPC Community Spotlighted (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=25574-Community-Spotlight-Episode-37&p=443044&viewfull=1#post443044) (episode 37)!

This is what our friendly fellow LBPC-ers and Community Spotlight crew had to say about it:

Somewhere between a garden and a maze, this is a treat for those who like their levels with extra cute. Of course there are well designed obstacles along the way, but with secrets around every corner there is plenty to keep Sackboy coming back for more.

Adi & Clarie

Another level that shuns hyperrealism for the sake of simply being cute as hell, this is sure to put a smile on your face. The puzzles and platforming are not too challenging, but the difficulty curve is just right and if you are up for some exploring, there's a tonne of secrets hidden far off the beaten track.

rtm223

This is a level that the more time you spend in it the better it gets. I lost count of all the nooks and crannies and secret areas to explore and each one was filled with cute characters and all the charm of the original Gardens level. High replay value and really fun platforming will keep you coming back for more adorable action!

Morgana25
Thanks a bundle you all!!
