LBP installed to harddisk

Archive: 9 posts

LBP is the kind of game you keep coming back to, so it would be ideal if you could play it without swapping disks. It could be done either by a new Install option, or by releasing it on the Playstation Store (like they did with the PSP version). Added benefit: I could still work on my level depsite my broken bluray drive.2010-04-09 11:09:00

I don't understand this "disk swapping" you speak of. Do you mean to say that I can take the LBP disk out of my PS3 2010-04-09 11:20:00

LOL, that is all

well not really, the whole point of the blu ray disc is that there is only one copy of it, so the only way to get this to work would be download of the store, and with all the patches and everything it would take up a helluvah lot of space on the HDD.

Perhaps it could be some kind of HUB version of LittleBigPlanet with no Steven-Fry-related material (which takes up a majority of the Blu-Ray Disc). If the player attempts to open a video or voiceover, it could show a message that says "Not Available in HUB mode. Please insert disc to view content". Also, when playing a Story Mode level or a tutorial level with a video screen, it will show a simple slide show of text and pictures rather than video footage.

EDIT: HUB mode should only be available to those who complete the Gardens.

The space saving suggestions are great, but in the end I'll put in a bigger harddisk if that's what it takes. 2010-04-09 14:22:00

I for one would play LBP so much more if I had it installed on my HDD and didn't have to get off my lazy butt and switch it. It's one of those games where you can quickly jump in and jump out which makes it ideal for this. Good 1!2010-04-09 20:22:00

Good idea! They should have it on the PlayStation store to buy it would probably cost little as much as ?25 (About $38) due to it being like ?17 (about $26) on Play.com and stuff. It would be useful to me because then I could buy it and even when my PS3's drive dies I can still play the best game on the plannet!!

Thanks for the awesome idea!

It'd be nice, but it would take up Gigabyte upon Gigabyte of data on the HDD, far too much data.2010-04-13 15:10:00

Great idea, seeing as I'm one of those people that always tends to return to this game, even after almost a year break.
But as pokemainiac pointed out, it'll probably take up way to much space of the HDD.
I like to store movies, music, etc. on my drive, and if LBP would be fully installed I would probably run out of space very very fast...
And besides, getting off my butt every now and then to swap the disc is good excersise
