Emotion Switches
Archive: 8 posts
Aswell as magnetic switches what about Emotion switches to go with them ? The basic idea is that when you push up or left or down or right on the D-pad it can corrispond to a emotion switch. This could be used as a: - A multi option conversation where what ever emotion you choose in response chooses a suitable reply. This could create a good and bad option in the level. E.g- Infamous - A arcade or minigame where you can use the D-pad to control a object. E.g- Pong, Car racing game. - A multiple option quiz where there are four options (one for each emotion) Aswell as these ideas they could also include a option for the grade of emotion E.g- smile, grin, sticking tongue out This could be used to change the speed of the car in the racing idea. I would like peoples opinions on this idea as I might send it to MM and see what they think. If you want to show your backing to this idea then post a reply | 2010-04-07 21:20:00 Author: AssassinatorRFC Posts: 715 |
Sounds cool but there ?s just 2 problems: 1. What would happen to the switch if your playing with more than 1 player and everyone does different emotions? 2.If you don't see the emotion switch and goes by it, with a big smile () and your not prepared and the switch would get activated? Other than that I would have found this useful. | 2010-04-07 21:28:00 Author: Alec Posts: 3871 |
If they find a way round the problems CrazeAlec said, this would be great! You could make someone say, what do you think sackboy? Smile for yes, sad for no. | 2010-04-07 21:36:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |

Or you could include a "require all" setting which would mean everyone would have to be happy 2. It would be good if there was an option to make it invisible or not but it would be up to the player if they wanted to have a emotion switch as a secret E.g- so if the player is enjoying the level they could unlock some points :hero: | 2010-04-07 21:40:00 Author: AssassinatorRFC Posts: 715 |
sounds confusing | 2010-04-07 22:53:00 Author: Delirium Posts: 349 |
Well the host could be the only one who could trigger the switch. But require all sounds much more reasonable and better functionality. I think it is a really cool idea. I see patterns when people will smile like after a difficult obstacle so you could reward them at the same time secretly and make them even happier! | 2010-04-07 23:03:00 Author: OneEyedBanshee Posts: 1370 |
This is a really great idea! When I just saw the name of the thread I was thinking that you meant a switch that would change the emotion's of sackboy/girl when he/she passes it lol. This is definitely a much better idea than that | 2010-04-08 06:32:00 Author: Fancy_Zombie Posts: 226 |
Nice this is definitley one of the more interesting suggestions of late. I can see the main advantage of this, like you said before, being that it would give us four more ways to trigger switches, just imagine the control pods we could have It would also really help levels be less linear, which also means replay value could be considerably improved. | 2010-04-08 07:39:00 Author: SR20DETDOG Posts: 2431 |
