I want to get more stable results from a jumping mech
Archive: 2 posts
I've posted questions related to mech building in the past, and here I am with another one. So I've got the jumping logic and everything worked out now and it works pretty well: the mech jumps every time i tell it to unless I'm walking on a really bumpy surface. I've got a motion sensor that will cut off the directional rockets if the mech gets moving over a certain speed, but what I need now is a way of actually slowing it down in mid-air. Depending on the angle and whether you're moving or not when you jump, the mech can leap a short distance or get moving really fast and leap over a football field length. I'm happy with the shorter end of it, but I'd like to knock off about half of the longer jump. As I said, the motion sensor cuts off the rocket so you can't add any speed, but now I need to go one better and actually make it slow down. The obvious solution is a retro rocket, but they're just not especially effective. Any ideas on something that would actually make it slow down mid-air? Like a drag chute or something? And how to best implement it in a way that won't make the mech go crazy during flight? | 2010-04-06 21:13:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |
hmmm...could you create a hollow space inside the mech and then fire say, pink floaties at the back out of an emiter. | 2010-04-06 22:02:00 Author: theamilien Posts: 485 |
