Why don't you use F4F?
Archive: 27 posts
I see a lot of threads in the PSP Level and Object Showcase (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?106-%5BPSP%5D-Level-and-Object-Showcase) that don't use the F4F system, and I'm a little curious why this is. Of course, there are plenty of perfectly legitimate reasons to not use F4F. I, for example, do not typically use F4F on my level threads simply because I already do my best to provide as much feedback on as many levels as possible, which ideally is 100% of them. EDIT: What's F4F? As ConfusedCartman puts it: "Feedback for Feedback is a system that helps creators improve their skills by offering to trade feedback with others." Click here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=22700-Feedback-for-Feedback) for more details. | 2010-04-06 00:49:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |
Maybe some people don't want to give feedback back. To be honest, but I didn't want to give feedback back. Then, I decided that seems unfair, so I agreed to F4F. | 2010-04-06 00:51:00 Author: Spark151 Posts: 801 |
Hey Taffey, Why don't you use F4F? Of course, there are plenty of perfectly legitimate reasons to not use F4F. I, for example, do not typically use F4F on my level threads simply because I already do my best to provide as much feedback on as many levels as possible, which ideally is 100% of them. I was going to call you a hypocrite until you explained yourself . However, I don't understand the logic. If you already do post feedback on as many levels as you can, then why not just put the F4F level just for show? The Pied Piper always promotes F4F but doesn't use F4F himself! Oh, the irony. Just because you're using the F4F system, doesn't mean you can't leave feedback for people who don't comment on your level thread, just saying. Anyways, I was just in a mood for a flame war with you Taffey: you're just too nice . I personally use F4F because I'm just way too busy nowadays, and as much as I would like to leave detailed feedback for everyone like I did in the past, I just can't do it anymore. I think it's a great feature and just good etiquette to return a favor someone has done for you. Writing constructive feedback takes a whole lot of thought and time, so why should someone help you become a better creator if you're not going to do something in return? The magical part of this system is that good deeds are rewarded. If you take the time to leave detailed feedback for someone, you know that that someone will also give you a detailed feedback in return. This is a beautiful system if you ask me. And it's also a convenient feature for new users. Being new can be quite overwhelming when it comes to making "feedback friends," and F4F is a great way to make these new friends. If your level isn't getting the attention it deserves because no one is acquainted with you or your work, then F4F is the honey to attract players to your level. Taffey, grow some backbone and back up your principles,:kz: jc | 2010-04-06 03:05:00 Author: jeffcu28 Posts: 648 |
the only times i can post my levels in the showroom is wen i get on a pc. most of the time im stuck on my crappy psp browser. this site is not psp compatible so i have to use a few tricks to actually be here. thats also why my feedback for others isnt as long but wen i do get a chance, i always use F4F. i love hearing what ppl think of my level and improvements they would like to see | 2010-04-06 03:32:00 Author: Alismuffin Posts: 1328 |
Aha, I love it! DISCUSSION!!! Why don't you use F4F? I was going to call you a hypocrite until you explained yourself . However, I don't understand the logic. If you already do post feedback on as many levels as you can, then why not just put the F4F level just for show? The Pied Piper always promotes F4F but doesn't use F4F himself! Oh, the irony. Just because you're using the F4F system, doesn't mean you can't leave feedback for people who don't comment on your level thread, just saying.I know, I know... I'm actually quite ashamed. I actually think that sometimes I should use F4F just so that I'll be practicing what I preach. Ok, so really one of my main reasons is that I don't want to give the impression that I'm mining for feedback. Is that what the system is for? Yes. However, when I'm on one of my runs giving feedback to every level in the showcase it just kind of seems unfair to everyone else if I'm asking for it back. I mean really, the popular guy demanding feedback for his level that's already on the highest rated and most hearted page? That just seems wrong to me. I'd much rather spread the attention around to the rest of the community struggling for hearts and plays. Heck, if there was a way to give out my own hearts and plays to other people I would have already done it! Of course I love feedback - it's one of the main reasons I enjoy making levels so much. Not only is the actual creating fun, but it's really a treat to know that people are having fun because of something you conjured out of nothing and made a reality. However, I see a lot of really talented folks out there that aren't getting the airtime they deserve, and I'd rather the attention be on them. I guess the system I use is one-way F4F. If someone leaves me feedback I try to make sure I leave them a detailed review as well, provided I haven't already done so. If I leave feedback for someone else, I don't necessarily expect it in return. I'd love to have it of course, but it's not a requirement. Anyways, I was just in a mood for a flame war with you Taffey: you're just too nice .What? No more flames? Well then what am I supposed to do with these hamburger patties I've defrosted? I know you weren't serious, but you did make a very excellent and valid point that deserved an answer - plain and simple. :hero: The magical part of this system is that good deeds are rewarded. If you take the time to leave detailed feedback for someone, you know that that someone will also give you a detailed feedback in return. This is a beautiful system if you ask me.Yes, it's an incredible system that I've seen really help people grow. It's done wonders on the PS3 side and it's finally taken root here in PSP land as well. I really want to see creators use F4F to its full potential. | 2010-04-06 04:20:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |
Hey Taff, Oh no! You're not diffusing the flames that easily. I shall avoid emoticons to make this more serious, unlike you who obviously use them to hide your pretentiousness. I know, I know... I'm actually quite ashamed. I actually think that sometimes I should use F4F just so that I'll be practicing what I preach. Yeah...well you should! On both counts... You know what this sounds like? Like you're too good for F4F. That's right, I said it. Your just so popular and attention-grabbing that this magnificent system can't work for you the way it works its miracles on other players. No, you have to take special measures to correct this fabricated injustice so that you can parade your success in a subliminal message that masks itself as altruism. What a hero... I guess the system I use is one-way F4F. If someone leaves me feedback I try to make sure I leave them a detailed review as well, provided I haven't already done so. If I leave feedback for someone else, I don't necessarily expect it in return. I'd love to have it of course, but it's not a requirement.Isn't this how normal F4F works? In your made up one-way F4F system, players who leave detailed feedback on your thread will be rewarded--or rather punished--with your dehumanizing feedbacks that only focus on their flaws and shoves them into their place below you. Take your snarky comment on amazingflyingpoo's A Dingo Down Under as a case and point. Oh wait, and you're just too good that you might have already left them feedback before they do so on your thread... And you say that you don't expect feedbacks in return. Well, if they're not participating in F4F, then you won't. And if they are, then you can just say that you don't want feedback. So why make up this "one-way" F4F if you're simply avoiding the normal F4F system? It's a cover up, plain and simple. What? No more flames? Well then what am I supposed to do with these hamburger patties I've defrosted? Oh it's burning alright. I have enough flames to saute your ego and feed it to the common people. Yes, it's an incredible system that I've seen really help people grow. It's done wonders on the PS3 side and it's finally taken root here in PSP land as well. I really want to see creators use F4F to its full potential. How can you say that if you're limiting its potential? According to you, F4F is a divider that's only good for people not getting enough attention. Thanks, I guess it's easier to weed out the have-nots then. And I guess all the other creators on the front page of highest rated should also abandon F4F so they won't steal the attention from others not in highest rated. Thus, they can also be "philanthropic" like you. Okay, what do you have to say to that Mr. Taffinator? Come on, shed your false front and tacky emoticons, and let your true inner jerkiness shine. Or, you can admit that I win. You can wave your white flag by using F4F on your new level. Thanks. Was that serious enough for you?, jc (Dope, I couldn't resist the emoticon!) | 2010-04-06 05:51:00 Author: jeffcu28 Posts: 648 |
LOL Oh, ok FINE. Yes, yes, you are right. F4F officially added! http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac207/tross13/TaffeyF4F.jpg There! Now I can sleep at night. :hero: :generic happy disarming emoticon: But wait! Oh noes, look what I found here! http://i900.photobucket.com/albums/ac207/tross13/jeffcu28F4F.jpg Now try and reply to THAT with a straight face! Those levels were published prior to the F4F system. I could change them all to F4F and claim that you photoshopped it to make me look bad, but I'm going to stand the higher ground by not covering up something that's not my fault to begin with. And this is why I'm better than you! Smug, jeffcu28 | 2010-04-06 07:21:00 Author: jeffcu28 Posts: 648 |

Advantage: Taffey. Your tell-tale emoticon usage gives you away. You see, I took the low road and converted pre-F4F levels! Notice how even The Right Stuffing is now F4F? Muahaha, weren't expecting that were you? And this is why I'm better than you! Smug, jeffcu28Hm. Well you may have a point there, but the "sad scorpian" screenshot I posted is still funny. | 2010-04-06 07:26:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |

Muahaha, weren't expecting that were you? See everyone, Taffey's friendliness is a FALSE FRONT--he is indeed a conniving jerk. And yes, emoticons are my tell-tale heart, but at least I have one! Okay, so the score stands: Taffey: 1 jeffcu28: 1 I guess that makes us even...for now. Hm. Well you may have a point there, but the "sad scorpian" screenshot I posted is still funny. It was very funny. I choked on an Oreo cookie just laughing at your genius comeback. I should note to be careful when I challenge you again next time my frienemy. Thanks for the laugh, jc | 2010-04-06 07:37:00 Author: jeffcu28 Posts: 648 |
The option "I don't have any levels worth rating published yet" seems to be missing. | 2010-04-06 08:10:00 Author: xero Posts: 2419 |

Thanks for the laugh, jcLOL, frienemy - I haven't heard that term in a while. Ever since my wife stopped watching Gossip Girl I think. Thank you for the laugh as well, and watch out for those Oreos. | 2010-04-06 08:13:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |
Darn it! I missed the fight! | 2010-04-06 08:43:00 Author: Fastbro Posts: 1277 |
Bummer... I missed it too Fastbro Anyway, I figured I would jump in and say that I actually don't use it because I always figured that you want to have people who go posting on F4F threads if they need feedback and then you also need people to post F4F threads. So I go with the "Person who posts on F4F threads if they need feedback" category, though I do really try to post as much feedback as possible even if I don't want feedback (though I am nowhere near Taffey in Jeff at being awesome about giving feedback on EVERY level). Maybe my thinking is a bit dumb since anyone with an F4F thread can still go posting on another F4F thread... hmmmm... (BTW, GREAT post Taffey!) | 2010-04-06 11:15:00 Author: amazingflyingpoo Posts: 1515 |
I used F4F on my first decent level, but eventually I had to remove it because I didn't have enough time. It's not often I create a level, but I do use F4F if I have the time. | 2010-04-06 11:29:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
Thanks poo! Maybe my thinking is a bit dumb since anyone with an F4F thread can still go posting on another F4F thread... hmmmm...Heh, that's the EXACT same thought that went through my head after jc's.... ehm "gentle nudge" in the right direction. So here I am making a thread to try and get people to use F4F more, and it ended up working on ME! I guess it was an effective concept then. | 2010-04-06 16:45:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |
I didn't use F4F for my first two levels for the PSP. I just wanted people to know that they were there. I was busy with a lot other things, but I'm considering to use F4F for my next level.. | 2010-04-06 21:59:00 Author: ghik16 Posts: 311 |
The option "I don't have any levels worth rating published yet" seems to be missing. Heh, yes I suppose I forgot that one. Well just choose the "I do use F4F!" option then because you're going to. Right? Hmm? *hint hint* | 2010-04-06 22:26:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |
Oh ho ho! I see that jeffcu and Taffey had a go at each other! Who shall be next? I await to see! http://images.whatport80.com/images/6/6d/CostanzaPopcorn.gif | 2010-04-07 00:45:00 Author: CyberSora Posts: 5551 |
ahhh every second post is a wall of text anyway, im not sure why i dont use F4F, i always try to leave feedback on every level i find on the forums but if i somehow can't ill seem like a jerk so i always try to leave feedback for other levels but i dont want people to play my levels just because they want an opinion on theirs (i hope this didn't come out wrong) | 2010-04-07 10:11:00 Author: Lilman1101 Posts: 91 |

Your Akira bike is pretty awesome. A bit of tuning here and there and you'll have yourself a very nice little race level. | 2010-04-08 21:07:00 Author: Taffey Posts: 3187 |
