How to play comunity levels offline.

Archive: 22 posts

Sometimes it gets really annoying when your friend is spamming you with invites and join requests. Sure you can play offline, but then you can't play comunity levels, right? Wrong. Here's a way to be signed into the LittleBigPlanet servers but not be signed into playstation network.

Sign in to Playstation Network
Load up LittleBigPlanet
Make sure you are signed into both LittleBigPlanet servers AND Playstation Network
Sign out of Playstation Network
Sign back in to Playstation Network (Lol, this is true I'm not trying to waste your time )
Go back to the game
You will get a message saying something similar to You have been signed out of playstation netwrok, would you like to try to sign back in? Click yes.
As it's signing in to the LittleBigPlanet servers press the PS button and sign out. It will continue to connect to the LittleBigPlanet servers even though you're offline.
Ta da! You're now offline but you can still play comunity levels!

I'm still experimenting with the things you can and can't do with this.

Enjoy the freedom of not being bothered with join and invite requests!

And for people with only a couple friends online, but they're not the most fun to play with.

I know I delete most people like that, but if they can contact me on a forum, then I just don't.

It usually ends up being an 8 year old kid...

Presumably there's a shorter way to do this, by signing out of PSN while the game says "Connecting to LittleBigPlanet online" when it's first starting up.

Also, for those people who get a lot of friend spamming, have you tried simply deleting them from your list?

:o Never thought of that good idea. But this is useful if you're already playing and then you get spammed.

True, if they do it a lot delete them. But sometimes people have a bad day and don't think about it. So they could be a really good friend that you want to keep. I have to admit I've had a bad day and have spammed people with join and invites ages ago. It happens, people aren't always in the mood for thinking .

Okay, just tried this last night. It's awesome!...for about 10 minutes. Then suddenly my PS3 freezes to the point I have to shut it off in the back. :S Tried if about 5 times before I finally decided to just play online. No more freezing problems after that.

Does anyone else have that problem?

Ehhh... I wouldn't ever shut it off from the back. That's a one-way ticket to corrupt-profile city. Instead, hold down the power button until it beeps. Let go. It will do nothing for a moment, then will beep in quick succession and shut down.

Listen to him. I turned the PS3 off by shutting it off from the back all the time. Because of this habit, I got the YLOD.

So, "Turn off system", good. Shutting off system from the back, not so good.

Yep t'is true. But this isn't the topic.

I'm really sorry if it froze your PS3. I didn't try it out for more than a few minutes to be honest . But I can't really see why that would freeze your PS3. I'll try it out in a bit and see what happens.

Although it's good advice to avoid turning off using the switch on the back of the PS3 unless absolutely necessary, it's perhaps a little unwise to assume that it's more likely to cause your PS3 to fall victim to the dreaded YLOD.

The YLOD is caused by a hardware failure, whereas the worst that would generally happen from cutting the power is some data not be correctly written to the disk.

But I can't really see why that would freeze your PS3.

I could imagine why it might.

If the programmers assumed that you can't be logged in to the LBP servers without being logged into the PSN, they may not bother to check both conditions before the PS3 executes a piece of code which will only work correctly when you're logged into both.
