Just Cause 2

Archive: 21 posts

So, anyone else got their teeth into this little gem yet? It's an awesome game IMO. The grapple/chute combo is one of the best original concepts I've ever seen in a game and gives an unprecedented level of freedom to explore a massive, sandbox style pacific island on a scale that rivals GTA: San Andreas. I've been playing for more than 30 hours and I'm only 18% complete....this is a huge game with more missions and collectibles than you could shake a stick at. IMO, the only thing letting Just Cause 2 down is the way the military over-react to the player's smallest actions. Basically, you only need to fart near a soldier and you'll have an airstrike brought down upon your head, meaning things can get pretty tough in the blink of an eye and I wouldn't recommend the game to those who like to play within their safety zone. "I'm drifting...I'm relaxing...I'm gazing upon panoramic vistas with vibrant sunsets...I'm letting out a fart...ah **** it, there go my human remains in a relentless hail of chopper fire again! Still...epic stuff for anyone with steel balls and a death wish!2010-04-05 12:54:00

it beats the crap out of any GTA game an saints row combined for me, so it's pretty awesome.
I love attaching my pell silverbolt to a flying aeroliner 747... it's madness.

I would say the desert island is already as big as San Andreas and that's only a quarter of the whole map.

Great game this.

I'm enjoying it so far. Loving what you can do with the grapple hook.

Horrible voice acting and an absolutely retarded air force but the rest seems quite quality.

I think they mentioned on the bombcast a while back that the bad voice acting is on purpose...but that was a while back and they might have talked about a different game so I could be way off. I only tried the demo briefly so I can't say.2010-04-05 18:48:00

Played the demo. I'll just say that this is the best sandbox game I've ever played. It was a tough decision between Just Cause 2 and GTA IV, but Just Cause 2 lets you screw around with your grappling hook and the destructibility of some objects more than GTA IV.2010-04-05 19:26:00

I played the demo. One thing really really bothered me: every time I fell down or something, the character would go into complete ragdoll mode until I stopped rolling. That is, he makes absolutely no effort to get up or stop his roll. This is absolutely hilarious but kind of irritating when you're getting shot at...

Was this fixed?

I've only played the demo, but one of my favorite things to do is shoot one of those propane tanks that fly upwards, and when it takes off, I shoot it with a grappling hook and latch up to it and ride it on the side into the sky...
It's a good idea to jump of before it blows up though. I learned the hard way.

Played the demo a bit and debating on whether I should get this in the future.
I like sandbox style games that take a long time to complete, but on the other hand I'm wondering if there is more to do in the game then going from place to place and blowing stuff up (like interacting with people instead of ventilating them).

And yes, the voice acting is so hilariously over the top that it has to be intentional.

I played the demo, IT WAS EPIC!!! I love attaching people to your car and driving around, ahhh so awesome.

But in the demo I hate the fact you have to listen to that annoying women every time you play...

Going from place to place and blowing stuff up is half the game. You can do it by land, sea or air, but at the end of the day it's all about mass destruction. The other half is pure exploration, searching high and low for the 1000 + collectible items available. Of course, you don't have to actually "play" the game. If you grow tired of the action, you can alternatively spend long hours just messing about and experimenting with new inventive ways to get a laugh out of the grappling hook.

there is a glitch in the ps3 and 360 demo, that glitch can give you unlimeted time and the whole map.
see this video tutorial!
look luck with it.

(for the PC demo ther is a trainer which does the same)

Or just drive around the island in a car while listening to your favourite podcasts like I did the last one and half hours.

MP on consoles? not a chance.
buy it on PC, they're creating an MP mod for it.

This game looks like the ultimate mucking around game, that hook... Dang I'm going to have fun attaching people to cars. Would be ace if it was multiplayer like Saints Row 2 (One of my favourite games ever).2010-06-22 14:17:00
